Hey everyone, I've been itching to let you know what I've been up to as I have been very hard at work cooking up the next update and planning future updates for Sketchy's. Let's get right into it.
Update 0.0.6.0 Preview
1. Controller Support!
This is a BIG ONE. I have been seeing an increasing request for controller support from day 1 and have decided to begin work on controller support. I have started developing the backend code PS4 and PS5 remotes and have successfully gotten both in-game controls and UI controls to work, but I'm not all the way through it of course. However, this confirms my ability to get controller support up and running which I am super excited about.
It's important to note that controller support will release for PlayStation and Xbox with Nintendo Switch being added in a later update. I am super excited to be able to bring controller support to Sketchy's Contract as know how many of you might prefer it and/or have been waiting on it.
2. Existing Map Redesign:
After reading through community feedback and picking out critical pointers, I found that Map Design is currently a bit of an issue in that lots of maps feel too difficult to complete compared to other maps like Portal Coral and offer no real reason for picking them over simpler maps as the rewards and experience don't pay off. This is NOT how I want the situation to be so I am revisiting map design to make maps more diversely meaningful while at the same time reimagining their visual aesthetic.
Keep in mind that only 1 Map will be reimagined at a time and released throughout a number of updates. Port Coral will be the first map to arrive.
As an example, Port Coral will be reimagined to be Themed as a Pirate Ocean Bay with cavernous hideouts, coral reefs with shells to find and loot, and undead pirate skeletons that walk the sands. Here's a glimpse at the pirate cave leading into Level 2:
3. Features:
Resurrection System for Solo Players.
New Plush.
New Lootables.
Night Shift AI spawn with Animation/Visual Effect Delays.
And more.
4. Bug fixes:
Issue where the Access Code does not spawn - I found the issue to why codes were not spawning like in Port Lumin. Sorry it took so long to find the root cause to that one but it will be taken care of now.
and more.
So what date am I targeting? It's hard to say exactly, as I did fall behind schedule due to COVID-19 and moving, however, I would love to have the update out in the next 2 Weeks. Keep in mind that is a goal that I would like to meet NOT a locked in release date. I will be working as hard as I can to meet it, but Controller Support itself is a lot of work and I am, after all, just one person. So, please be patient with me.
Thank you all for continuing to support and play the game! I can't wait to get this update out!
