Hi everyone! I hope you've all had the chance to check out the gameplay video I uploaded a few weeks ago. Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping the direction of the game, and I truly appreciate all of your insights and suggestions.

Here's the video, if you haven't seen it:

Development has been very productive lately. The game is in the best state it has ever been in, with a significant number of bugs resolved and the mechanics are significantly polished. I've been focusing heavily on polishing the writing, refining the UX, and fine-tuning various gameplay mechanics, as well as doing extensive playtesting. I've also been incorporating the feedback I received after posting the gameplay video a few weeks ago.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing another trailer towards the end of this month. In the previous gameplay video, I introduced you to the planet Berith II, a western-inspired world where the rebellious faction, the Enlightened, have established their stronghold in the city of Chronos.

In the upcoming trailer, I will showcase a glimpse of the planet Alios and its capital city, Pearl City. This region is mostly under the control of the authoritarian faction, UESA, known for their advanced technology and strict governance. This trailer will be shorter than the previous one (more like a proper trailer as opposed to a gameplay walkthrough-styled video), and will focus more on showcasing different aspects of the game and various locations.

Thank you all so much for all of your warm hearted messages and continuous support. Words can't express how much they mean to me, I feel like I keep saying that but it's completely true. I'm so happy to be back communicating with all of you, and I can't wait to unveil more of the game's world and gameplay features. Also, please don't hesitate to make suggestions or give feedback about the game. Your input is immensely valuable to me and really helps me make this game the best it can be.

I hope you'll look forward to the trailer!

Cat Cafe Manager - RoostRick
Hello everyone!

Here’s our monthly update!

Last month we announced that we are working on a sequel of our first game, called Cat Cafe Manager 2: Big City Bliss, and we are running a Kickstarter campaign in September! We reached 1000 followers in less than 3 weeks!! So exciting!! Thanks so much everyone!! 😱

Remember that Kickstarter works a bit like Steam: the more followers we can get before it launches, the better the algorithm likes us, the better chances we have of the campaign becoming a big success! So please give us a follow and let your friends know, if you haven’t done so yet! 😺

By the way, something important to keep in mind is that when the campaign goes live in September, in order to pledge and support us you must use a debit or credit card associated with Visa, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay, or American Express. Kickstarter does not currently accept Maestro or Visa Electron cards, PayPal or Klarna. Please keep this in mind in case you don’t have a debit or credit card yet, so that you might be able to order one before the campaign goes live. Or maybe you can lend you one from a friend to help you out with their card! (That’s what I do). You can find more detail about payment options here. 🙏

Call Me, Maybe?
It was so exciting for everyone in the team to finally reveal what we’re working on and show the key art of our next game! How do you like it, and did you have a closer look at all the small details?

Especially keen-eyed viewers of the Cat Cafe Manager 2 art might notice your main character holding something... a smartphone! Gone are the days of having to walk over to your pay-phone every day. With this newfangled gadget, you can do all kinds of neat stuff!

Here's a sneak-peek image of an early design for the phone menu. Using your smartphone, you can access different kinds of menus or look up handy info.
And what a cute accessory!

Please note: none of what's presented here is final, including the design, as well as the buttons that are present on the smartphone. Thanks for understanding.

Introducing The Cat Cafe Team!

Today I also wanted to present to you our team. We're currently working very hard on Cat Cafe Manager 2 and preparing the Kickstarter campaign, so that we will be able to show you the first images next month, stay tuned!

Rick first saw a cat cafe in 2013 during his exchange study in Kyoto and couldn't help but think "heck, this might make for a good game!". 7 years and 3 released games later (look for Abbey Games) he started Roost Games to finally make that cat cafe game! Rick's the game designer and story person on Cat Cafe Manager, and the Creative Director on Cat Cafe Manager 2. He might be addicted to board games, and won't let his allergies stop him from petting every dog and cat he lays his eyes on.

Carmen has been a part of Roost Games since the very beginning in 2020 and worked on Cat Cafe Manager as an art director, artist and animator. She’s worked as an artist/animator on several indie titles such as Renowned Explorers, Reus 2 and Tracks of Thought. She’s a big time Sailor Moon fan and is still waiting for the day a talking cat tells her she has magical moon powers.

Joni has been part of Roost Games since 2020 and as a producer and business developer he usually only plays a small part, but in a lot of different things. In the past he also made music, and besides music and games he loves Legos, good food, and cats of course - although he is sadly in between cats at the moment…

Esmeé is a Game Artist/Designer and advocate for the cozy games genre. She directed the 2.5D game Tracks of Thought where she worked with some of the Cat Cafe Manager 2 crew before! Now as one of their freelancers she’s responsible for all the bits, pieces and buttons making up the interface for the game as well as helping with marketing efforts. She takes great pride in befriending all the cats in her neighbourhood and hopes to save a bee with some sugar water someday.

Ernst is a long time collaborator and since 2024 officially part of Roost Games. As the main game programmer for Cat Cafe Manager 2, he makes sure all the game design ideas and art are transformed into a real game. Besides programming and playing games, he likes to cook, read fantasy novels and is a bit of a coffee snob.

Mischa is a game artist working in both 2D and 3D. He also made a tiny game called ‘Little Man has a Day’ so he can call himself a gamedev as well. As a freelancer working on Cat Cafe Manager 2, he was responsible for turning Carmen’s 2D drawings and designs into 3D objects. When he’s not behind his computer making things, he dabbles in amateur theater, but would never admit that on the internet.

Sonya is a musician, game composer and cat-fan. She officially joined roost games 2 years ago after working on Cat Cafe Manager as a freelancer. She’s been making music in very many shapes and forms, playing on big music festivals as a bass player, recording bands as an engineer and even scoring a theater piece using all sound of a piano except for the piano keys. Sonya has had a lot of long conversations with her cat Vosje about how cat music should sound so she’s really looking forward to putting all this new information into practice!

Tim joined Roost Games as a freelancer earlier this year and is taking care of the tech art, meaning he's creating effects and tools to make the game prettier! He has his own indie game studio, where he created Garden Buddies and the upcoming Footsy, and has also helped on the game Tracks of Thought. He loves playing music, is obsessed with Japanese monster movies, and loves to make pretty shaders! One of his first 3D models was actually (a VERY rough) model of his childhood cat!

Irene joined Roost Games earlier this year to take care of Marketing and Community, she worked on the indie games Kraken Academy and Suzerain before. She sadly has no cats due to allergies, but has a lot of plants instead! 🌱

Let's Wrap Up
By the way, we’re working on reactivating our Reddit community server, so if you are redditor, come join us and share your thoughts with us! You can also find us on Twitter, Instagram and our Discord Community.

Thank you so much!!! Our next reveal will be early next month, can’t wait to show you!

Take care! ✨❤️
Rick
