Welcome to our first devlog for 13Z where we take you behind the scenes to explore the quirky origins, inspirations and some future plans for our game.

It All Started With.. Cats
Believe it or not, we originally wanted to create a cat-themed action game because we've got a few cat lovers and pawrents in the team!

During one of our brainstorming sessions, a fascinating tidbit came up: the cat was famously left out of the Eastern Zodiac circle due to mythic rivalries and celestial twists of fate.


For those unfamiliar with the Eastern Zodiac, it comprises twelve animals—Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig—each governing a year in a 12-year cycle. These animals significantly influence the personalities and destinies of individuals born in their respective years. Unlike the Western Zodiac, which is based on monthly divisions and celestial constellations, the Eastern Zodiac assigns a year-long period to each sign, integrating both cosmic and earthly elements.


Intrigued by the legend, we thought: what if there was a 13th Zodiac? And what if it was a cat? What if this was a game about the incumbent Zodiac guardians looking for a new animal to join their ranks?


This idea quickly grew legs - or rather, paws. As we deliberated, our Chief Happiness Officer, a lovable cavapoodle, looked up at us with big, soulful eyes. In that moment of cuteness overload, we thought, "Why stop at cats? Why not include other animals too?" One thing led to another, and our Zodiac game expanded to encompass a whole array of animal spirits.

But you might ask - why is our first character not a cat but a fox? Well, that's a tail… we mean tale… for another time. ;)

Our Vision for 13Z

13Z is a bold blend of oriental mythology and whimsical fantasy that places our studio's love for fast-paced, stylish and fluid action at its core.



Beyond grounded combat, we're also focusing on choreographing moves that make use of the level verticality and aerial combos. Yes, we're huge fans of DMC.



Our character designs and concepts are another area that we're thrilled about. Each Challenger has unique skills, with some able to transform into their spirit animal forms as part of their combat abilities.



We believe a great game is best enjoyed with friends, so co-op will be a key feature of 13Z. Players can find synergistic builds with their teams to tackle challenges together.



Though not shown in our early gameplay video, we're also working on a village that players can upgrade to enhance their abilities in future runs, while interacting with NPCs and fulfilling some side quests. We’ll share more details about this once the mechanics are finalized, but it's an area we're very excited about.


Finally, as with any great roguelike experience, variety and choices matter. We're working on synergistic upgrade systems within and outside of the Trials to design satisfying progression paths for different characters and builds.

Permanent upgrades can also be unlocked using persistent currencies earned from the Trials. From new skills and characters to Village upgrades and run modifiers, these persistent improvements will enhance your strategies and keep each attempt fresh and exciting.



That's right, Challengers! We're currently crafting a demo of 13Z as we'd love for the community to have a meaningful part to play in building a game that we would all want to play together. Expect to see it in a few months—we can't wait to share our progress and hear your thoughts.

Tournament Rules
- The tournament will be held in our brand-new Arena map, "City Siege". Matches will be 3v3, with no respawns. Victory is awarded to the first team to win 4 matches.
- In light of time zones and potential latency, the tournament will be split by region: into Asia, Europe and America.
- Each region will have 8 teams of 4 players (and a substitute). If you're interested, form a team of your own and prepare for the qualifiers!
- This is a knockout tournament in which a champion team will be determined for each region.
- Players select their own equipment, which must be of Magic or lower quality. Using illegal equipment will forfeit the match.

- Regional Times:
  • NA: The Final Test - July 7 20:00 PDT
  • Asia: The Final Test - July 7 20:00 CST
  • Europe: The Final Test - July 7 20:00 CEST
- Players must record the matches in full, and submit their clips once the tournament ends. We recommend using Steam's Game Recording Beta.
- Further details will be announced on the Tournament Finals channel.

Rewards
(To be issued after Dungeonborne's official launch)
- Teams who complete at least one match will receive 1 piece of [random Epic Equipment]
- Teams who make it into the top 4 will receive 1 extra piece of [random Epic Equipment]
- Teams who make it into the top 2 will receive another piece of [random Epic Equipment] and 5 Mithril Tokens
- The champion team will receive yet another piece of [random Epic Equipment] and 10 Mithril Tokens
- These rewards are issued to all players on a team, including their substitute.
- Rewards will be usable in the live version of the game and will be issued 3 days after the official release.

Please note that this is a small-scale community tournament, and we apologize that places are limited, meaning not everyone will be able to participate. However, we value all feedback received, which will help us improve and create larger tournaments in the future, allowing more players to join in on the fun.

Fixed some balance issues and minor errors.

Hi folks! It’s been one week since we released the Multiverse Designer beta to all our backers, and we have to say the release went as well as it could possibly go. Of course there’s been some bugs and issues (that’s what betas are for!), but nothing too serious or that would significantly delay our development. We sent our best paladin to track and metaphorically slay them with his antibugs +1 long sword (that would be Paulo). Rest assured, they’ll be squashed very soon; stay tuned for some hotfixes in the coming days.

While he’s busy smiting those nasty bugs, we are already planning our next steps and would love to hear your thoughts about it. The first question is about landscapes. Soon, we will implement a new landscape (a terrain for you to put your creations on, basically). Which one, from this pack here, would you prefer us to implement first?

The second is a question explicitly addressed to backers who have already checked the beta: have you noticed a speed/fps improvement in this last version? If you have, or haven’t, how important is that for you? We want to know if you prefer us to focus on implementing more assets as soon as possible or increasing the frames-per-second rate. Eventually we’ll get to both, of course, but we must set priorities, we can’t cover all the bases at the same time.

Hi, my name is Jonas, or, as you can find me here, NobleCourt. I’m the developer of the game EQUIRE which has probably brought you here. In this channel, I want to keep you up to date about the state of the game and my plans. But first, let’s start with the basics: Who am I, what on earth is an EQUIRE and why am I making that?
I’m not some kind of industry professional, nor do I have a big programming background. I’m a 23-year-old student living in Germany. I got into game development about a year ago and started developing some small projects just to learn the basics. There were small prototypes about robots swinging on ropes and an American football management game that never got to the point where you could play a game, let alone actually finish a season. These projects were neither well planned well nor did I have the know-how to finish them, but what they did was teach me a whole lot about what I can and (mostly) what I can’t do.
From the moment I started game development, making a Horse Ranch game was in the back of my head. When I told my girlfriend about the stuff I was doing, she would always tell me how much she enjoyed old horse games like Horse Life and My Horse and Me 2 and how frustrated she was at times that so many horse games lacked quality and maturity. We talked more and more about what a modern Horse Ranch game could look like and what features would fit together. I love playing management games and she is a part-time Sims fanatic, so the game quickly had its three main pillars defined: ride, build and manage.
Although I have lived my whole life with horses, I wouldn’t call myself an expert. I do, however, have tons of expertise around me. Besides my girlfriend, who has owned a horse for 6 years, my mother is my best advisor. She owned horses all her life and worked on a ranch very similar to those you can build in the game for most of it. She is (as you may expect) very happy to answer all the questions about horse care, riding and the benefits of expensive horse food that her usually football-loving son has for her.
Since we started discussing ideas and I started development, the project has grown into a passion project for me and my girlfriend, who is creating the music for the game. Seeing the landscape of games in this genre, I believe there is a need for this game and a community that would really enjoy a game that is more than “Oh look, cute horse” and doesn’t treat their players like fools or wallets. This is the type of game I hope to provide and I would love to have you here for the ride.

Ranch Simulator: Build, Hunt, Farm - RedPandaViking
Hey ranchers,

An optimisation and bug fix patch is now available on the main branch, meaning it's available for all players!



Take a read of the details, which were previously announced:

This interim patch includes tweaked FSR and DLSS settings, as well as optimisations to some elements which were causing hits to performance such as anti-aliasing and chicken eggs. Large ranches with high volumes of animals should see improved FPS on some set ups.

This is in addition to the following:

- Optimized number of draw calls
- Optimized textures and materials of stones, grass, trees and buildings
- Removed unnecessary files from the game
- Fixed issues when mounting horses
- Fixed a bug with a mouse or gamepad when opening a building book
- Eggs now break again
- Fixed a bug where FSR made the picture too blurry
- Fixed a bug where it was impossible to turn off TSR
