Some Of The New Merfolk Townies!


[Galoong, Etna, Todi and Lanin]


Hey there, beautiful, talented, brilliant farmers! Buckle up because the 1.1 update is bursting with amazing new features and the most adorable NPCs ever. And guess what? There are even more new merfolk waiting to be discovered. Meet some of the New Merfolk:

Galoong: This guy is the sculptor of the deep! With an incredible talent for turning sand into masterpieces, he spends his days lost in creativity and deep conversation with his BFF, Lanin. His longtime partner Vihren also sculpts, but it’s Galoong who runs the shop. His art is all about celebrating the sea and protecting its beauty. Aah!!! What a hero!

Etna: Deemed the most beautiful sea creature in the entire universe by her adoring husband, Tahat (so sweet!!!). She spends her day tending to her garden, and that charming, sweet smile? She’s passed it on to her daughter, Denali. Talk about a winning genetic lottery!

Todi: The friendly general shop owner with a knack for finding great deals on rare items. He’s always got the latest in stock, from fresh petalia seeds to unique sea spices. Todi runs the shop with his amazing wife, Lawu, who’s a wizard in the kitchen. When he's not minding the store, Todi loves exploring the coral forests and dreaming about life above the waves. He even has a land-dwellers watch—sure, it may not work, but hey, it looks awesome!

Lanin: The chatty and vibrant clothing vendor of the sea! She's always ready to brighten your day with her dazzling smile and perfectly curated outfits. Lanin’s shop is close to Galoong's decor store, making them best friends in both business and life. She's full of curiosity about life on land, often marveling at human habits and inventions. Whether you're looking for the latest fashion or just a friendly conversation, Lanin’s the mermaid to visit!

Dino Suits for Ranch Animals

This is BIG, folks! In the 1.1 update, you can transform your ranch animals into dinosaurs. The dino costumes automatically adjust the size based on the animal you dress up, ensuring a perfect fit every time! Unlock the dino suit by completing the dino hologram in the museum. Each completed hologram unlocks a specific dino costume for your animals. How cool is that?

A new week has come and gone, and here is the first short-term update to the program.

Game Play
  • A new instructional level will be added before mainline 1-8.
  • The following mainline chapter levels will be adjusted in difficulty: 2-4、2-5、2-8、2-9、2-10、3-1、3-4、3-5、3-8.
  • Mainline levels will support replay in free mode.
  • The above update will not affect the archive.

Known Problem
  • Some of the instructional levels do not properly block shortcut key operations.
  • Some instructional level processes do not reset the camera position correctly.

Couriers
  • Fixed issues where couriers would drop items unnecessarily.
  • Fixed variety of issues where couriers could get stuck in the Garage
Worker AI
  • Fixed an issue where workers could get stuck forever if they were knocked over (by a car, or leaf blower etc).
    • Any workers that might still be stuck, try knocking them over (with a car or leaf blower) and see if that snaps them out of it.
  • Fixed issue where Maintenance workers would stop working if they could not find a valid path to one or more of their bubble guns.
  • Fixed performance issues that could arise if your town was extremely dirty.
  • Farm workers will now collect and correctly stock Animal Feed.
  • Changed priorities of the Blower/Trimmer so that workers will prefer to store held items before using those tools.
  • After workers have done their priority tasks, they will now attempt to fill all locked storage, even if those items are not actively 'required' by the current town.
  • Farm workers should no longer attempt to water the same plot forever.
  • Workers should no longer stand in one location using a tool forever.
  • Workers should no longer attempt to harvest or collect items they are unable to store.
  • If a worker is unable to store held items, they will dump them on the ground instead of holding on to them forever.
Bug Fixes
  • Stopped birds from floating in the air
  • Fix some articles of clothing not showing for players in customisation menu.
  • Fix for players who are stuck with Fishing Rods after the previous patch.
  • Fixed issue where entering the same Jailbreak Code twice could cause an error when trying to load a game.
  • Fixed issues where tourists would never leave town if they could not find a valid path to the train station.
  • Player can now knock over tourists who are in their 'wander' state.

We're back once again with a hotfix to resolve a few more issues you might be encountering. If you aren't encountering these issues, awesome, keep assuming the game is bug-free and perfect, and be sure to leave a positive review stating as such.

Please update your game and servers when you get a moment away from scientific study.

Hotfix 0.8.2.10487 Changes
That's 10487, which is different than our last hotfix, 10478!

  • Fixed several issues with Duct Tape repair not functioning as intended.
  • Explosive Damage type now has an icon and text name when it appears in the Compendium.
  • Fixed an issue where an item (Water Filter, in this case) would not properly be researchable even though it no longer required research if the player had already discovered the recipe.
  • Crafting Bench rename button has moved to the left side of the Crafting Bench name in the crafting interface.
  • Fixed Splints and some other consumable/useable items not properly working using medical radial wheel (hold X key by default) or when using the right-click context menu to use the item.
  • Fixed location of interaction text on Wall Clocks.
  • Field reports from a strange tile-laden locale have indicated there are no longer multiple buttons available, but just one, which will reveal the exit.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could soft-lock by spamming Tab and Escape key.
  • Shortened the range which certain enemy subtitles might appear, to not give them away so blatantly...

Handful of Notes from the Design Director
Hey all! Zag here. Got a few things I wanted to talk about with the scientific community.
  • We've absolutely heard the feedback regarding the fog - some people love it, some people find it a bit overbearing. That is sorta the point, but we will look into some future sandbox settings and/or some in-world methods for dispelling weather early. We have ideas, but we'll need some time.
  • We're also looking at ways to call forth specific weather types. You know, eating a foggy hamburger or something. (That's a joke, probably.)
  • We've heard some feedback about optimization. We can share more in the future on this topic, and how we're fixing it if you're into the technical side, but the simplest reasons for low framerate are largely CPU overhead. We have a lot of enemies roaming the world, and our levels are very large, so a lot of stuff is just too active all at once. We're planning some fixes for Crush Depth that should improve this in a few areas, with better support for loading and unloading additional sub-levels. Our first test of this will be in the Labs / Adjustment Wing where this manifests the most, and we'll tackle more as we go along.
  • We also recommend if you're struggling to run the game well, try running in DX11 mode, and/or with Global Illumination and some other graphical features turned down. That dynamic lighting can really do a number on your system and these settings disable it. Still, if you aren't having trouble, we recommend for the best "intended look" to run in DX12 with Global Illumination as high as you're comfortable. It's worth noting here our intent is not to just mimic Gold Source as lighting plays a much, much larger role in Abiotic Factor than whatever that game is you're comparing it to.
  • We've heard some feedback about overworld weaponry being hard to repair. This is also the point but fret not, we have some other plans cooking. We hear Warren wants to open a business, whatever that means down here.
  • We've also heard some feedback about difficulty - some people want things harder, even when solo. We'd like to provide those options, and we're working on a plan for that. We'll see what we can squeeze into Crush Depth, which is jam-packed with new stuff already. And with that...
Onward to Crush Depth, releasing this Summer!

We're releasing the test build for Update 0.5.02, which includes a major graphic overhaul, new locations and islands, a dynamic weather system, additional items, and more base-building options. This version is in the testing branch, therefore it may not be stable and have some bugs. Please keep this in mind before opting into it.

How to Opt-In:
To switch to version 0.5.02, go to your Steam Library, right-click on the game, and select 'Properties'. Click on the 'BETAS' tab and choose 'publictest' from the drop-down menu.

Due to the drastic changes to the world map, we do not recommend continuing your previous game, as your base may end up in the air or other locations or could create other conflicts.

If you encounter any issues, please report them on our forum in the bugs section together with the Test Build note in the header.
