Hey everyone!

We're happy to let you know that one of the most requested features - FULL GAMEPAD SUPPORT - is now available in Of Blades & Tails!

Over the past few months we have put a lot of effort into making Of Blades & Tails controller friendly and improving Steam Deck compatibility!

We gathered a lot of feedback from players. Everything that you shared with us, we took to our hearts and we're very excited to finally bring the news to you!
We genuinely hope that you like what we achieved.

Most of the aspects of the gamepad support were covered before in our beta preview post (read here).


Additionally, we took some time to work on some bug fixes and other improvements which include:
  • New options in settings to automatically switch between directional mode and cursor mode (helpful between fights).
  • Gamepad icons next to gamepad prompts (previously was text only).
  • Updated translations to support new features (including gamepad prompts).
  • Increased label size that indicates number of items in item stack.
  • Second tutorial variant for gamepad.
  • Fixed long lasting issue causing random crashes when switching between scenes.
  • Virtual keyboard support.

With this we're hoping to get the Steam Deck verified badge very soon!

Dear CTS: Tram players,

Thank you for an amazing launch in Early Access! Your enthusiasm and feedback have been, and still are, invaluable to us.

It has been an insanely busy week for us and we’re actively working to address the most significant issues you've reported, and a patch will be released shortly. We are also still actively listening to your feedback and your opinions.

For instance, you've told us that customizing controls and joystick support are important to you. As a result, we have elevated these two features on our list of priorities.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to join the official ViewApp Discord and share your thoughts! The Discord is also the best place to report any issues, so be sure to join us there.

Our current plan is to implement the following fixes for the upcoming patch:
  • Fixing incorrect switch settings at the “Unterer Ring” junction
  • Grounding the floating signal at Engelsbrunnen
  • Correctly integrating the ULF as an AI tram
  • Removing the graphical glitch on the R2.2b model door
  • Correcting the destination displays of AI trams
  • Resolving existing issue with passengers blocking the shunting desk in the R2.2b
  • Addressing crash issues following collisions with trams
  • Eliminating brief loss of driving sound when crossing switches
  • Corrections to the Text-To-Speech announcements
  • Correcting vehicle slots issue in sandbox operation
Please keep in mind that this list might change before the patch releases.

We appreciate your patience and support as we fine-tune the game to provide the best tram simulation experience possible.

Galactic Civilizations IV - [SD] redskittlesonly
Last week we released the Species Pack DLC and today we've made updates to that pack that include; more species, multi-selecting portraits, and adding the ability to 'copy species'.

For clarity on what's included in Galactic Civilizations IV versus what's exclusive to the Species Pack, please refer to the chart here.

Newly added species include:
  • Elesaran: Avian Phenotype with low Diligence and Resolve but high Social. 
  • Ganthari: Thanks to their powerful memories, the Ganthari are known as one of the galaxy's wisest species. However, they are not overly popular, as the Ganthari will never forget a grudge.
  • Glendorian The Glendorians are a mysterious and aloof species. They are known to seek solitude and prefer isolation. With the galaxy at arm's length, they've kept many secrets.
  • Phaelerian: The Phaelerian's appearance hides a vicious and opportunistic nature. Their quick wits and surprising speed make them shockingly competent warriors and allow their scientists to maintain an edge in the arms race. 
  • Seculoid: Seculoids, having adapted to drastically shifting climates over millennia, can make most environments habitable. Their extreme intelligence makes them some of the most competent scientists, and their versatile tentacles can adapt to almost every task.
  • Truskar: A species of trophy hunters, the Truskar takes pride in defeating powerful foes. Single-minded and tenacious, the Truskar will forsake most things if it means achieving victory.
  • Unirix: The Unirix are a paranoid and untrusting species of insects. Their survival instincts are unmatched, in part due to their experience with discrimination among other species.
  • Zpherian: Intelligent, charismatic, fickle, and cruel, the Zpherians are compassionate allies and vindictive foes. 

All GalCiv IV players will see minor tweaks to the base species, improved AlienGPT image generation, and some bug fixes. See the full changelog here.

Hello everyone!

Emiliano, our game director, along with Yannis and Steven (that's me), the community managers, hosted a Q&A on our Discord last week. Inspired by the questions from that session, we want to share some key points that we feel are important for a larger audience.

What is the story behind Ale Abbey?


The game originated from Emiliano's passion for brewing and tycoon games. Although he has been working in the industry for a while, he had never had the opportunity to develop a tycoon game until now. Venturing into managing a brewery felt like a natural progression. Our Game Director has read extensively about beer crafting, and it was during this research that he stumbled upon trappist abbeys. The traditions and history behind these monastic ales captivated him. This and the fact monastery beers are some of his favourites.


What’s my goal as a player?


You will begin your journey with a humble abbey and the ambition of growing larger and more prosperous. To achieve this, you'll create unique recipes and sell your freshly made beverages to nearby villages.

As you advance, it is essential to continually evolve your brewing practices, as brewing is not a practice set in stone. By allowing your monks to conduct research, you'll unlock new tools, ingredients, and rooms, thereby enriching your monastic life.


What divine drinks can I concoct?


There are over 20 European styles of beer in the game at the moment, ranging from blond ale to Bohemian pilsner. For each of these styles, you'll be able to craft unique recipes by selecting your desired ingredients. You can also tweak these to gain specific bonuses—or risk getting your beer infected!
Different towns have varying preferences for beer types; not everyone enjoys the same brews. By catering to local tastes and fulfilling special orders during events, you'll be able to earn more florins.


What’s up with the monks?


The monks under your charge are essential for producing the best beers. Each monk has unique stats that will get better over time with training and experience. However, be mindful of their individual needs and desires; providing a bed and a beer is a good start to keep them content.


Will I be able to play a demo?


After two years of development, the game is in a good state and we’ll absolutely do a demo later this year. In the meantime, we are also considering the option of conducting some playtests beforehand.

We Are Lost - maddoggames1111
This is just a quick fix which will hopefully resolve players getting all achievements as soon as they start the game. The problem seemed to be in the fact that we included a persistent save file to the build while we tested the latest update. This was a persistent save from our own files that we should have removed before uploading the build on Steam.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully, this issue is resolved now. For players who have already faced this bug, we also apologize. Sadly, there is nothing that can be done to reset those achievements.
Again, our deepest apologies for that.
