Let's get into it. Hi, I'm D, or Phaze if you prefer. I'm currently the only person working at OOMM Interactive. I have game dev friends and contractors who come in and help with different stuff if I don't specialize in it, but for the most part, the games don't happen if I'm not pushing them forward.

You may have heard about all the hubbub happening in the games and tech industry. It's a tough time in the tech sector and jobs are hard to come by. That's mostly what's been taking up my time the past few months, looking for work and then doing some dev for myself on the side.

As you might imagine, getting rejected, or not even getting replies from places, is tough on one's mental health. I'm lucky at least to have a place to stay, and savings to keep me going a while. I'm not going to go into depth of how I am, but sufficed to say, I'm trying new ways to dev, and diving into the deep end with this whole make a video game company thing.

Now on to the show!

I'm working on three games at the same time! Hahah......

Ok, a little background. I've been trying new things these past few months, and having multiple projects to switch between works best for me. Originally, I wanted to just stick to EEE and get it done, but that just sorta kept getting bogged down and bloated. I wanted it to just be done, as opposed to focusing on doing it well. A lot of avenues felt closed off, because it would take too long, and some tech debt related to the tech tree made the backend somewhat unstable.

That's all gonna change with the new multi project thing. If I don't feel up to working on something I can switch projects. This also has the benefits of letting ideas and design percolate longer, and possibly come up with better solutions.

I've currently finished up a game, Castaway Soul. It'll be coming out on the 5th of July, and I'll make a separate post for that. This one is actually fully finished before release. X)

I'll be working on a hyper-casual, sci-fi mobile game around bringing free wifi to the galaxy. The drones in that game actually informed how I could rework EEE to be a lot more fun. I'll also be working on a sequel to Castaway soul pretty much right after it releases.

As for EEE, it's still all in the planning stages. What's set for now (but still subject to change) is:
  • There will be a "galaxy exploration" progress visible at all times;
  • Self-replication will be moved to the new drones, drones will start out few and grow exponentially;
  • Drones essentially can do almost all the work that previously went to buildings;
  • Buildings are now more specialized, and can be demolished;
  • All sites will have limited mineral resources, so they can be mined out;
  • Energy will play a larger role, solar panels, solar sats, solar swarms will be more important than ever;
  • Leaving a site will still save it's outputs, so old sites can still provide power and other resources, with there being a limit to the total number of sites before old ones start being abandoned;
  • The Expedition Vessel will always be accessible, and data can be sent up without Ascending;
  • The main focus will be on building space exploration drones, and observation stations to survey the galaxy faster;
I think all these changes will make for a much more fun/engaging game, while adding that sort of griebly feel of drones clearing out the tiles bit by bit. This does mean that the game will take quite a bit longer to finish. Current aim is to have it done by this time next year

TLDR:
Life's hard, stuff happens, and tends to keep happening. Getting back into working on the game, will be doing a top-down rebuild to base the game around drones, and will be bringing the main goal of the game more front and center.

  • Raw Mushrooms should now list Attribute Bonuses in the description
Bug Fixes
Building
  • Carnute will no longer regrow trees through player estates. As long as a stump is under foundation or shelter, the tree will not grow even if the Carnute calls
  • Adjustments to the build limit counter to show more accurate item counts
NPCs
  • Sun Giant should no longer summon unintended amounts of Automatons in Offline Mode
Resources
  • Bound Ichor can no longer be refined into Spice
  • Tools built before 0.3 that lost their ability to use spells should now be able to cast

  • Optimized shaders, reducing the installation size about about 10GB

STAND-ALONE - LIFUEL


Hello, this is LIFUEL!
It's a hot summer, but we are working hard on development!
We are working on the next stages and new wolves, elites, and bosses
that we cannot reveal in the demo yet.
However, updating and maintaining the demo with you is still at the top of our priority list!

This update includes a new elite wolf for Stage 1 and added cutscenes for defeating elites and bosses.
There will also be a significant change related to the 'Dodge' battle mechanism.

Additionally, many of you requested 'mouse key mapping', and it is included in this update.
Please check below for more details about the other updates!

1. A new elite wolf, 'Rusty Iron Warwolf' (temporary name), has been added to Stage 1.



This wolf, similar to those riding charging tanks in general battles,
features entirely new and unexpected attack patterns.



Moreover, some existing elites and the Stage 1 boss will have new [Dodge-unavoidable] attack patterns and warning UIs.

We believe these changes will provide a completely different combat experience.
Please share your thoughts and feedback on your experience!

Also, the existing elite wolf, 'Outcast Detonator', has received a new attack pattern!

2. Added cutscenes for defeating elite wolves and stage bosses

With the addition of [Dodge-unavoidable] attack patterns,
we wanted to provide a visually satisfying experience for defeating these challenging elite wolves.

Therefore, we have created special cutscenes and effects for defeating elites and bosses.
We appreciate your feedback on these cutscenes and effects!

3. Mouse and number key mapping is now available.



While STAND-ALONE can be played with just a controller or keyboard,
we recognized that some may prefer to play using mouse clicks or number key mappings.
Thank you for your patience. Mouse left-click, right-click, middle-click,
and number pad key mapping are now supported!
We also added some more user-friendly pop-ups and UI related to key mapping.

※ Fixes ※

[Fix] Cooldown Reset Mechanism Adjustment

Creating your own skill combos by adding combo skills is a key fun factor in STAND-ALONE.
However, experiencing the inability to link expected combos due to the 'Cooldown Reset' booster or the 'Voltage Halberd' special ability felt unsmooth.
Therefore, we adjusted the 'Cooldown Reset' to apply after using the last skill in the combo chain.
This way, you can enjoy the benefits of cooldown reset after completing your desired skill combos, with slightly adjusted cooldown reset probabilities.

- Voltage Halberd: The skill cooldown reset chance is now 25% instead of 20%.
- Booster 'Greater Fortune': The skill cooldown reset chance is now 30% instead of 20%.

[Fix] Minor adjustments to general combat level design

We realized that facing too many monsters at once can feel messy rather than challenging.
Thus, we made some adjustments to the level design to improve the combat experience in some general battles.


[Fix] Improved Jump Motion and AI of Wolves

Wolves jumping over flat tiles and floors would often jump excessively high or far,
even for short heights or distances.
Now, wolves will calculate a more appropriate height when jumping to chase the player,
making them a bit smarter wolf soldiers, we have improved their jump motion and AI!

[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where the game wouldn't progress during text events in certain environments.
[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where some monsters were obscured by background resources upon spawning.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where some monsters displayed abnormal animations.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where elite wolf intro animations appeared on objects instead of the player.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where the game would automatically close when certain monsters interacted with specific objects.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where players occasionally passed through walls or floors unintentionally.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where the camera occasionally jerked during boss monster introductions.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a bug where certain interactable objects were not being displayed correctly.

Starting July 18, 2024, the Official Release version of Brazen Blaze will be available for download on the Meta Quest store, Steam store.
For those who pre-order the Meta Quest version, a 13% discount and exclusive skins will be available.


■Regarding the ongoing Open Beta
The free Open Beta is now live. During the Open Beta period, you can obtain pre-release skins, exclusive cards, icon frames, and badges. The items obtained during this period can be transferred to the Official Release version. The Open Beta is scheduled to run until July 17, 2024 PDT.

■About Brazen Blaze
Brazen Blaze is a melee combat focused 3v3 action game.
There's only one goal in this game: “Strike down your opponent.” Simple, right?
Want to punch someone? Go trigger-happy? Smash a statue of someone famous?
Do everything that you’ve ever dreamed!

■Runners
In "Brazen Blaze," you can choose from a roster of "Runners" each with unique Main Weapons and Skills to battle. Participate in combat using your preferred style, be it guns, shields, swords, or bombs, and employ tactics to aim for victory. 


In addition to the five Runners available during the open beta test—Riot, Legacy, Skybolt, Velvet, and Sunshine—two new Runners, Levin and Chillout, will be introduced in the Official Release version. These additional Runners will be available upon meeting specific conditions, which will be announced later.


■Game Rules

Round Team Match
3v3 team battle. You win a round by eliminating all the opposing team members. The first team to win two rounds wins the match.

Stock Team Match
3v3 team battle. Each team shares a pool of stocks, and when a team member is defeated, they respawn after a set period. Victory is achieved by reducing the opposing team's stocks to zero and eliminating all opposing players.

Custom Match
This feature allows you to create a room and to choose game rules and team divisions for the match with up to 6 players. In addition to the standard match rules, you can choose special rules such as the "Playground" for practice. Moreover, a "Spectator Mode" has been added, allowing you to watch the gameplay of other players.

Target Challenge
Single-player game mode. Players aim to destroy all target drones placed on the stage within the time limit. Various stages and difficulty levels can be selected.

■Stages
In "Brazen Blaze," there are multiple stages where battles take place. 
Dash around these stages with different terrains using your Gauntlet.

■Assist Items
Assist Items will appear during battles. 

These items can be randomly obtained by breaking the "Item Boxes" that appear on the stage. The more disadvantaged your situation, the stronger the items you are likely to receive. Use the various items to turn the tide of battle and become victorious!


■Runner Pass / Battle Pass

Runner Pass
By accumulating Mission Points and leveling up, you can unlock new Runners and new Sub Weapons, as well as other various rewards. In Season 1, two new Runner Passes, "Levin" and "Chillout," will be added. There is no time limit, so you can progress through any Runner Pass at your own pace.

Battle Pass
Similar to the Runner Pass, you can earn rewards by accumulating Mission Points. However, the Battle Pass is a limited-time pass with a set duration, so be mindful of the end date while progressing.

Note: Items obtained through the Battle Pass can only be acquired during the active period, and there are currently no plans to make them available after the period ends.

■Shop
There will be 3 shops in the game.



Daily Shop
The Daily Shop is a shop where new items appear every day. You can purchase various items using "Magna Credits" obtained from the Battle Pass or Runner Pass.

Gold Shop
In the Gold Shop, you can purchase special items exclusive to the Gold Shop using Blazen Gold. Blazen Gold can be purchased in the game.

Gem Shop
In the Gem Shop, you can purchase items using "Hazen Gems" distributed as rewards for specific events.

■Achievements
You can obtain badges and other items by meeting specific conditions.

■Closet
In the Closet, you can freely customize the skins, communication goods, and profiles you have obtained.

Gameplay tweaks: some players didn't know they had a map so I've put a little reminder in. Also, I've made it easier to drag legendary keys into their legendary keyholes, the dragged detection area seemed to be too small previously.

Also, I put in a couple of hints to the legendary tasks that were a little too obtuse.

Improvements to performance too. The game may take a little longer to load up, but this should cause less stuttering(caused by loading) during gameplay.
