We challenge you to craft your very own Throne Tales!
Gather round, brave rulers and wise strategists, for a grand contest of imagination and storytelling awaits! Summon your creativity and rally your imagination for a joyful celebration of stories in our "Throne Tales" event! We challenge you to craft captivating lore for our beloved realm. Whether you spin tales of daring adventures, mystical beings, or ancient secrets, let your words bring the world of Thronefall to life!
The event's deadline is on June 28, 2024 9 AM CST ; no more stories will be accepted after that. We'll then review the submissions before announcing the winners a few days after!
๐ The challenge's rules are as follows:
Write a short piece of lore with a limit of 500 characters that takes place in the Thronefall universe. Answer a question you would love to have an answer to. Who is your ruler? What is the lore of a particular level? Where did a certain enemy come from? Write about whatever interests you. Anything goes.
Before June 28, 2024 9 AM CST , post your story in #thronetales on our Discord.
Each participant can only post one story!
At the end of the deadline, we'll review the stories and proceed to choose the winners! (Community votes will also have an impact on the result, so make sure you upvote your favorite stories!)
๐PRIZES
Our 5 favorite storytellers will get rewarded with:
The Champion Discord role
2 Steam keys to share with your friends
A spot in the coveted Discord and Steam's Hall of Fame, where your name will remain for eternity...
Join our Discord server, to share your creation with your fellow rulers! Our events are only hosted on our Discord server exclusively to ensure we have a fair and even playing field for everyone so we have one unified community voting system for all submissions, as well as for the sake of simplicity, allowing us to have them centered in one place.
We'd also like to disclaim the following; this is a quest for fun and camaraderie, where every tale adds a sparkle to our community's tapestry. We don't plan to add any official lore to the game. We like that you can come up with your own stories and now's your chance to.
Sharpen your quills and let the storytelling begin!
It's time for the first update to the game! Based on a lot of your feedback in discussions and over on the Discord a bunch of tiny balancing and gameplay tweaks have been made and a few bug fixes here and there are solved in this update.
BUT! The dungeon also received a host of new inhabitants, new creatures, new enemies, and some of the existing enemies and bosses learned a few new attack patterns and skills .. so be ware!
You'll run into the Summoner, who will be summoning a bunch of creatures and won't stop until you kill him! Also say hi to Blobby : he looks happy and cute, but looks can be deceiving !
Key changes in this update:
- Weapon evolutions at higher levels will create a higher-level evolution (never more than 2 levels below the weapon you are evolving). So you can still evolve a level 6 arrow into something new, and not worry about it becoming a level 1 Evolution, it will be a level 4 evolution! (and Evolution weapons are stronger than the base weapon by nature).
- You now have a max-amount of heart containers available to fill from the start. So you start with 3 hearts, and you have a max of 6 heart containers. BUT you can find a Gold heart to increase the maximum amount during your run!
- And the only real big bug is now fixed, some players were "randomly" losing weapons at later levels of the game. This is now resolved!
What's next
Next on my plan is to add more "NPC" like areas, comparable to the monk. Already got a few interesting ideas for that, and the aim is to add alternate dungeon area's for special items or weapons.
I also plan on designing some Character-specific weapons that can only be unlocked and used by a specific class.
If you got ideas, don't be shy and come hang out on the Orangepixel Discord, and I'll see you there!
- Fixed the issue where the card "Recall (Permanent)" would go into the discard pile. - Fixed the issue where removing custom equipment options in minor updates was not timely. - Fixed the error in buff tooltip display in the status bar during matches. - Fixed some errors related to mods.
refactored inventory and equipped item code slightly
lowered shader count by using just a few master materials, and using mainly instances of those materials instead of just using master materials for every single material. hopefully this also lowers vram and ram usage.
improved how bird sounds play, so now it is more optimised on the cpu and is much better in terms of locations the sounds play
while indoors in the first level, bird sounds are prevented from playing, and when you are no longer indoors, they are allowed to play again
optimised sprinting on the cpu ( there was some inefficient code related to "checking if the sprint speed should be set to a lower value or not" being executed while sprinting )
temporarily removed paths in the first level to make building the landscape simpler and quicker
new features:
while paused, unless you are in the graphics or video options of the pause menu, the world will no longer render so your system isn't using lots of power while paused ( this will really help laptop players and players with bad system cooling )
added the skeleton of the first minigame. that's the main reason this update took so long btw ( the other reason is i was sick )

Escape from the Cursed Convent Playtest - KimShyuen
Dear Players,
We have accidentally included test save files in the previous build, which might overwrite your existing save data. To avoid any accidental loss of progress, please back up your save files before updating the game.
To further ensure your save data is protected, we recommend changing your Steam settings to update the game manually. Hereโs how you can do it:
How to Change Steam Settings for Manual Updates:
Open Steam and Go to Your Library:
Launch the Steam client on your computer.
Click on the "Library" tab to view your list of games.
Locate "Escape from the Cursed Convent Playtest"
Find "Escape from the Cursed Convent Playtest" in your list of games.
Right-click on the game title and select "Properties".
Adjust Update Settings:
In the properties window, go to the "Updates" tab.
Under "Automatic Updates", select "Only update this game when I launch it" from the dropdown menu.
Backup Your Save Files:
Navigate to your save files directory, typically found at:
C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Escape from the Cursed Convent\Saves Copy and paste your save files to a safe location on your computer.
After making these changes, you can manually update the game at a convenient time, ensuring your save data is safely backed up.
We have removed the test save files in the latest build to prevent this issue from recurring. Thank you for your understanding and support.
