Silence of the Siren - Oxymoron Games
In Silence of the Siren you're not limited to taking over the existing buildings on the map. There are a few useful structures that your commanders can construct to defend your territory, boost your income or surprise your enemies.

The Rules

Any commander can use their movement points once per round to construct something. The objects cost some resources and usually take a short while to activate, but if you so desire, you can spend a little bit extra to power them up immediately.



There are also special points on each map, building zones, that allow you to construct these structures with a big discount.



If one of your structures isn't needed anymore, you can always take it down. You will even reclaim some of the materials that were used to build it.

Some of your commanders will learn the Builder skill. It allows them to construct more powerful versions of the buildings and gives some nice discounts for various actions on the map, including upgrading your mines!

The Structures
First, let's list them all, then we'll have a closer look at three examples!
  • Mining probes,
  • Automatic turrets,
  • Outposts,
  • Drone dogs,
  • Cybersnares, traps that catch enemy commanders - available to commanders with maxed-out Builder skill.
Drone Dogs are small stationary bots that extend the visibility in the fog of war. It's always nice to leave one behind when returning from an expedition to see if somebody is following in your steps. :)



Outposts let you leave guards at your chosen location - and provide a few special perks.




Most importantly, if you have a gateway-type building in your base, you can send troops to your outposts directly!



Also, when some enemy units want to join you during negotiations, but there's no space in your army, no problem! The nearest outpost can accept the recruits instead!

Then, on the economy side of things, there are Mining Probes. Here, we're talking about a classic risk/reward mechanic. A probe will mine some resources each round, until somebody pays it a visit and empties it. Do you need the resources right now? Oh, somebody else left an unguarded mining probe nearby! And so on. :)



While we still have some work ahead especially when it comes to game balance, you should now have a pretty good idea about the options your commanders have at hand when they're out in the wild.

  • Increased Dexterity scaling when assigning Ashes of War with corresponding weapon Affinities.
  • Increased Stamina consumption when guarding against attacks of the following weapon types:

Bug Fixes
  • In the inventory menu, added the amount of FP consumed for Skills in the "Ashes of War" display information.
  • Reduced the time it takes for some gestures to become cancelable by rolling.
  • Adjusted the input speed in some menus, such as conversation menus, to prevent accidental skips.
  • Fixed a bug that caused damage to the player and friendly summons when using the "Last Rites" Skill under specific circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug that caused higher than expected poise damage when performing left-handed attacks with Thrusting Swords.
  • Fixed a bug with Spinning Slash Skill that generated poise when used with Twinblades.
  • Fixed a bug in The Queen's Black Flame Skill that did not apply poise when using this skill.
  • Fixed a bug where the characteristics of some weapons were not working properly against mounted enemies.

  • Fixed a bug where the spectral steed did not trigger a death fall under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented players from getting hit by other players under certain circumstances in Multiplayer.

  • Fixed a bug where item names and the cursor were not displayed correctly in the inventory menu under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where event actions were available while being in the map menu.
  • Fixed a bug in the map menu that caused specific terrains to be displayed differently from the actual terrain.
Steam-only adjustments
  • Changed the initial layout of "Key Settings" in "Keyboard and Mouse Settings" in the system menu. Note: If you have created save data before this update, your layout will not be affected.
  • Fixed a bug where the mouse cursor would blink in the title menu, causing the game to be unstable under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where a submenu with no items would be displayed after a right click during the tutorial.

Open Beta – Mining Update


As some of you might already know, the open Beta of our upcoming Mining update is live! If you like to test all the upcoming features, you are more than welcome to do so! All Early Access players are eligible for the Open Beta. Just right click on "Pioneers of Pagonia" in your library, click "Properties". then "Betas" and choose the Beta branch from the dropdown menu. We are happy to receive your feedback on our Discord server or in the Open Beta Steam Forum. Have fun testing!

Sneak Peek: New Enemies called "Scavs"

Next to the Geologist and Subsurface Mining we would like to introduce our new enemy unit: The Scavs! These guys will definitely change up the game and cause some trouble! Here is all you need to know:

The Scavs are a new and challenging enemy type completely different from the Pagonian faction!
They will expand their territory and exploit mining resources. Yes, you read this correctly: If you don’t defeat them fast enough, they will spread like wildfire! Not only do they claim neutral territory, they will also compete for mining resources above and below ground! Their base is called Grimy Bulwark, and it serves them as a smithy to craft their tools, weapons, and armor. It also stores all their mining resources.



There are three main types of Scavs:

Creepers
  • These bulky units with their frog-like helmets use stone to extend the Scav territory. If Scavs find copper, they can produce more tools and armor for new Creepers and expand faster!
Stonebreakers
  • Watch out for these guys! They harvest any stone and metal resource available on the surface! (Yes, they take all the good stuff!) Both coal and iron is needed for their tools, but they are weak in combat.
  • If the Scavs find silver, they can produce sophisticated tools to equip an Orescraper. They can build a Pit and harvest metal resources below the surface. (And they are also quite weak in combat.)
Pit Watchers
  • They are in charge of defending the Grimy Bulwark and protect the weak Stonebreakers because they are specialized in combat. Their weapons and armor also need iron and coal.
  • Greedy Watchers use steel weapons and will only appear if the Scavs get their hands on nickel. Be careful because they are serious enemies to overcome!
  • Vicious Watchers need both steel and gold for their armor and weapons and are the strongest enemy in Pagonia for now. Send only your best units to defeat them!
You can’t let the Scavs roam freely on the island for too long. You must be quick and plan your attack carefully. Because if the Scavs find and harvest enough limestone, they can raise a new Bulwark within their territory. Stop them before they become too strong!

How to defeat the Scavs
Most Scav units wear thick armor and are hard to defeat, but there will be a new player unit type which move swiftly as a cat and target their weak spots! Drumroll please for … the Blade Dancer !

As their name already suggests, Blade Dancers are skillful fighters which are best answer to the well protected Scavs. They can be recruited in the Adventurer’s Guild. Depending on their tier-level, they need light armor, padded armor, and steel-padded armor as well as iron daggers and steel daggers.

If all units of a Grimy Bulwark are defeated, the base will collapse. All nearby territory will become neutral again and all resources that were still stored in the base will be on the ground for you or other Scavs to take.

We are so excited that two great streamers lend their voice to our iconic Geologist! For the German version you can hear the one and only Gronkh voicing the character and for the English version it is SodaPoppin's voice travelling through Pagonia. We think both did an amazing job!

In the future we are planning to record a lot more voices also for our female characters. If you have suggestions who should be voicing one of our characters, please let us know! In the next update we are implementing the feature that you can choose which voice for which character you would like to hear in the game. So you can always have your favorite "Yippie"-sound playing in the background.

On June 4th we were on the edge of our seats! (well, Timm was definitely at the edge of his!) Pioneers of Pagonia was part of the OTK Games Expo 2024. It was so much fun to see our city builder made in Germany being showcased to soo many people around the world! We were honored to be mentioned next to so many other amazing indie games!

What comes next for Pioneers of Pagonia?
Magic Update
Last but not least we would like to give you an outlook on our future plans! The current roadmap is still active. After the release of the Mining Update next week, we will shift our focus on the upcoming Magic Update. This will be a major content update with lots of new features and we are so happy to finally be working on all the ideas we've been bottling up for ages!

New Enemy Type: "The Cursed" and Magical Unit "Warlock"

While the exact release date is still being finalized, I wanted to share some frequently asked questions and their answers with you.




Q: When exactly is the release date in August?
A: We will announce the exact release date soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

Q: Will all progress carry over to version 1.0?
A: Yes, all your progress and saved data from the early access version will carry over to version 1.0.

Q: Will the game price change after the release?
A: The price will increase to $19.99 after the Steam Summer Sale ends on July 11th. Regional prices may vary according to Steam's suggested prices.

Q: Are there new features or content in version 1.0?
A: The core content will remain consistent with version 0.9.10. Our focus is on polishing the art, gameplay, and UI to ensure the game is as stable and refined as possible. A supplemental update reflecting these improvements will be released soon.

Q: Will updates continue after version 1.0?
A: Absolutely! We will continue to develop and improve 'Terminus: Zombie Survivors' with post-launch updates that include new content, features, and support for the Steam Workshop. Keep an eye out for more exciting additions!

Q: Will the game be available on other platforms like Epic Games, GOG, or PC Game Pass?
A: No, the PC version of the game is available exclusively on Steam.

Q: Will there be a console or mobile version in the future?
A: We are not considering a console version at this time. We are exploring the possibility of a mobile version, but it has not yet been finalized. Our current focus is on enhancing the quality of the PC version.

Q: Will there be more platforms or languages added?
A: No, the final platforms and languages are set. The game is currently available on PC and Mac, and supports eight languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, German, and French. We have finalized these as the supported platforms and languages to ensure the sustainability of future updates.

Q: What will happen to the supporter DLC? When can I register my name as a supporter?
A: The supporter DLC will be discontinued once the early access period ends. We initially offered the DLC to gain financial support during early access, and your contributions have been invaluable. We sincerely thank you again for your support! Although the DLC will no longer be available for purchase, you can still register your supporter name in the credits even after the sales have ended.
