Survivalist: Invisible Strain - Bob
Hey everyone, there's a new patch out! This one's the result of me doing a playthrough of Story mode and sort of trying to fill in the gaps and finish up all the dialog and text. Also generally fixing bugs people reported to me. So there's a lot of smallish story stuff and bug fixes. Plus, I've added achievements! (But I haven't done the icons yet) I think story mode is basically done, I'm hoping to move it all to the main branch soon and not be adding a lot of new text from now on. Here's the change list:
  • A quest to get to know Cooper McClure (Emma's husband) a bit more
  • Added a dialog path for if Carter dies but you complete the Stranger quest anyway
  • Added a path for Liam to trigger some of the late game stuff instead of Kelly if she isn't around
  • Emma wants cookies mini-quest
  • Kelly directs you to Utopia Park to find more supplies
  • Invisible Strain percentage increases over time (except for the Sandbox Mode Easy difficulty level where it's always 0%)
  • Story Mode starts a bit later in the Spring so your crops don't die of frost
  • Reduced requirement to stock up on gasoline or vegetable oil at the end of Story Mode
  • Added achievements (placeholder icons, not fully tested)
  • Added hint for the first time a community member is unconscious and needs bandaging
  • Added hints for crops dying of frost
  • Added hints for drag-selecting and group assignment
  • Added hint message for when you assign someone to a role while they are taking a break
  • Added a minimum delay between friendly snowfights among community members
  • Added a quest when you first get to FEMA to take Kelly with you if you haven't already
  • Added a little extra dialog if you talk about hitting the road out of Moose Valley to someone who isn't in your community
  • Added threatening dialog used by more aggressive characters instead of begging when trying to get an item from someone
  • Added ability to make car parts using forge
  • In the rivalry quests you can kill the target, but the quest giver won't always thank you for it
  • Crafters can automatically pick up flint that's on the ground
  • Cap the number of times you can get fake FEMA helicopter teams in Sandbox Mode
  • Stop people from attacking people they are in love with if their opinion of them drops, instead they just get over them (via gossip dialog with a third person)
  • NPCs don't declare war on people if they just kicked them out of their community
  • Corpses are shown on the map in the fog of war if you have investigated them already
  • Prevent drinking caffeine if you aren't sleepy enough, as it's annoying to have to check how sleepy you are
  • Prevent Cameron Hines from declaring war on FEMA
  • Prevent hitting the road with corpses or zombies in the vehicle
  • Possible fix for refugees etc spawning behind the entrance gates to the map sometimes
  • Some fixes for Charlie in Ritzville
  • Updated Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Latin American Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese translations
  • Fix for characters with zones set getting stuck trying to make food for others using campfires that are out of their zones
  • Fix for NPCs getting stuck while vaulting while offscreen
  • Fix for bodies flying a long distance when dropped while offscreen
  • Fix for getting stuck in stream in Story Mode
  • Fix for getting stuck unable to use controls while trying to assassinate someone who is walking away at the same speed as you
  • Fix for red strain hordes getting stuck forever in Ritzville if the gates are closed
  • Fix for plantable crops models being perpendicular to the ground
  • Fix for radio/world map not being recognized immediately if you capture a building with them in it
  • Fix for a miner not depositing stone because they also had a lower priority crafting role that used it
  • Fix for characters in snowfights shooting each other with ranged weapons after they get interrupted by combat with real enemies
  • Fix for animation glitch when starting to chop wood or similar activities
  • Fix for glitch where hair goes bright yellow when by a campfire
  • Fix for people burying Martin Steele so you can't complete a quest
  • Fix for Emma getting stuck not reacting to anything while in labor
  • Fix for characters such as Kelly who aren't supposed to be able to join you doing it via a chain of their friends or relatives
  • Fix for Kaleb being able to join you which means his dialog involving the dump truck doesn't make sense
  • Fix for dialog option asking Kelly what she wants gold for not disappearing if she trusts you enough to tell you first time
  • Fix for communities not starting off with enough food if you start Sandbox Mode in late winter or early spring
  • Fix for people (or chickens) being able to get into buildings they are close to even if there is no allowable path
  • Fix for being able to teleport through walls by exiting from a car door next to them
  • Fix for being able to remotely open/close other communities gates from across the map in command mode (e.g. to let zombies in)
  • Fix for quest failing if Morgan Harding can't pathfind to your community, or if she dies
  • Fix for FEMA declaring war on Cameron Hines after Emma plants the bomb
  • Fix for homeless community occupying Pilot's Union helicopter
  • Fix for being able to demolish supposedly indestructible edge fences with tool boxes
  • Fix for sometimes not being able to give Cameron the valid green pass if you are evacuating yourself
  • Fix for Story Mode saves from different new games having the same id and overwriting each other (if you're using save tokens)
  • Fix for captives getting annoyed at you for attacking their captors (or their base)
  • Fix for exploit where you could view another community's Community tab by stashing a body in a building and viewing their inventory
  • Fix for equipment transfer amount dialog allowing you to transfer more items than an NPC wants to sell (e.g. if they have 2 molotovs but only want to sell 1)
  • Fix for bug in mods where builders need a pot to building something, and they would try to get other containers instead of getting a pot from a campfire


EDIT - released a quick follow-up patch (v203) to fix a bug where people were being awarded the achievement for making vodka when they crafted any liquid:
  • Fix for some bridge road tiles in story mode being marked as having water on them
  • Fix for Liam being annoyed at you for attacking FEMA on his advice
  • Fix for vodka achievement being unlocked when you craft any liquid

What's this publicbeta thing?
v202 will be in the "publicbeta" branch for a while, before pushing it to the main game. If you want to try the latest features as they come out (and help test them!) it's a good idea to start using this branch. But keep in mind:
  • Because it's the bleeding edge it could be less stable
  • If you want to be able to play online co-op with someone you'll need to be on the same version as them
  • If you go back from the "publicbeta" branch to the main branch you may not be able to load savegames created on "publicbeta".
To use publicbeta, just right-click on Survivalist: Invisible Strain in your Steam library and go to Properties, then Betas and in the drop-down select "publicbeta".

[Job]
- Chef profession added to the game, providing an experience bonus when cooking.
- The running speed bonus provided by the Fishing profession reduced from 20% to 10%.

[Quest]
- The level for the Devil Drako quest increased to 80 and will now appear in Autmn Fields.
- Devil Drako and Devil Wornak quests changed to daily quests.
- Cursed Skin quest adjusted to be compatible with Yummy.

[Fixes]
- The name of the Level 28 "Viking Hat" changed to "Horned Hat".

[Craft]

Rival Students' AI
The AI logic of Rival Students and Enemies are improved. I am still working on this and making better and better day by day.

Player Interaction Logic
Player interaction logic is changed. Now, we don't need to use R key for repair and F key for Follow. All we need to use (Interaction, Cleaning, Repearing, Building, Commanding our Students, etc.) is "E" and Mouse Leff Button.



Message Notification on UI
I have added a notification UI element on Scene. It is located on Top and Right and comes with an animation. So, you will be aware of you have a new message waiting on your Management desk.



3 New Info Panel for Better Understanding of Game Mechanics.
I have added three new info panel about Why we need to do marketing? Who is Grasshopper? and What is the purpose of hanging Posters on our Walls? I think our players will have better understanding now.

Sketchy's Contract - Dimensionless Games
If you haven't followed my streams or been part of the Discord, than you might not know about the progression update which is being broken into multiple parts to allow the player base to provide feedback in stages which will make it easier for me to review feedback to make proper changes and adjustments with each next update.

Let's get into it!
NEW
  • Added 2 new Save Slots.
  • Added a song back into the boombox that was removed with the previous track update (community request).
UPDATES
Performance
  • Huge AI Performance improvements. Players should notice a significant FPS increase, especially when at higher quotas when more AI spawn in and when doing Night Shift runs.
  • Texture optimizations with reduced memory usage.
Weapon Changes
  • Pickaxe damage increased from 40 to 55.
  • Shovel damage increased from 30 to 40.
  • Hedge Knife damage increased from 20 to 35.
  • Flamingo and Pool Noodle damage increased from 20 to 25.
  • Boombox healing increased from 2.5 Health per second, to 10 health per second and its diminishing return on stacked boomboxes has been reduced. The idea of this change is to remove the need to stack boomboxes and reduce the downtime of standing still.
  • Boombox now has a 30 second battery life, HOWEVER, the Boombox can now heal for 50% of its effectiveness while held making it a portal healing item. The idea is to reduce the downtime spent standing still by the player.
  • Big Daddy damage increased from 250 to 325.

Gathering System
  • Access Crates that are dug up now grant credits in addition to random loot.
  • Access Crates that are dug up now have a chance to provide level 1 security access. This gives more incentive and reward for going out in the world looking for loot rather than being restricted to security codes found only inside the main building.
  • Shoveling now has a chance to dig up a pirate booty that is very valuable.
  • The value of Ore has increased from 35 to 60 quota.
  • The value of Night Ore has increased from 60 to 90 quota.
  • The value of Edible Herbs increased from 18 to 35.
  • Edible herbs restore 50 health up from 25.
General
  • Melee damage from suit mod points is now scaled by a percentage rather than a flat rate value. This change has been made to ensure that each melee weapon has a different gameplay style. As of now, shovel and pick axe barely do more damage than a pool noodle because the modifier is not scaled by percentage which is not ideal.
  • Melee damage modifier is now 8% per point.
  • Mimics now have a chance to drop a “Mimic Stash”. Mimic Stashes contain currency in them that varies depending on the level of the mimic that dropped it.
  • Mimics now have a chance to drop “leftovers”. What are leftovers? Go find out!
  • Oxy Changes – Oxy is now the fastest moving slime and consumes twice as much oxygen if it attaches a Globule. HOWEVER, Oxy has a very small radius of attachment allowing the player to jump over it without being touched! Just don’t stop to turn around, because Oxy will realize you jumped over its head.
  • Oxy now has a weakness, which is the “jumping” mentioned above.
  • Tectoniss (Sandworm) damage doubled.
  • Vending Machine Chips restore 35 health up from 25 health.
FIXES
  • Fixed an issue where digging up night shift loot would sometimes fluctuate between being an egg and being loot crate.
  • Fixed an issue where the resource UI bar was inconsistently displaying on the screen.
  • Fixed an issue where scanned items such as unburied treasure would still prompt the scanned information after being unearthed.
  • Fixed an issue where plush weren’t being cleared correctly when pressing the “clean” button in the UI.
  • Fixed an issue where some UIs would get stuck on the player’s screen when trying to close out of them.
  • Fixed an issue where player dead bodies held while the ship is taking off remain in the player’s hands after reaching orbit.
  • Fixed an issue where the shrink ray collision would sometimes not register with the corpse its hitting.
  • Fixed an issue where after completing a contract, players were being counted as dead even though they survived when returning to orbit on the first day of the new contract.
  • Fixed an issue where items dropped on death were not spawning with the correct amount of resource.
  • Fixed an issue with the Jetpack where the FOV would not return to the player defined FOV in the settings.
  • Fixed an issue where the Replenisher would allow players to replenish items that already had full resource.
  • Fixed an issue where corpses placed into the Freezer would not shrink if placed on top of another corpse.
  • Fixed various life form grammatical errors in Sketchy’s Data.

thanks for the headsup UnrealExpert.

This patch fixes incorrect saving into the slot 0 and the save file issue when you are trying to start a new save at a new difficulty. Previously, the game seemingly tried to save slot 0 regardless of which slot you had picked when you tried to exit to the menu from the level start menu.

So basically, if you started slot 1/2, went into the game, then chose to leave the game without starting the mission, it would save your progress under slot 0, very specific issue. Very dumb one too.

Just a minor bug patch that fixes some typos, item descriptions and more importantly, errors with the level up system.

I'll have more notes soon as I'm probably veering off the roadmap a little bit this month. I want to add traps (um, the dungeon type of traps ofc) and more story content that's not listed in the roadmap.
