The final update of the v0.7.x line of patches is upon us. It brings new extreme special locations, new recipes, increased max potential, and some features that prepare us for next week's upcoming major update - v0.8 Settlement Management.
Here's the full changelog:
Added
- 5 new Special Locations: 4 extreme and 1 troublesome difficulty. - Added 3 new recipes to Carpentry. - Added 5 new recipes to Agriculture. - Added hotkey (F11) for Camera Mode in Keymap, which will hide GUI elements so we can take pretty pictures of our settlements. - New Bone resource added. - Stone Bed recipe added to Construction level 5.
Changed
- When building in your own settlement, the fog of war is lifted. - Increased base max potential by 40. - Honey nutrition reduced to 40. - Bed recipe moved to Carpentry level 5. - Drying Leather Rack moved from Construction to Carpentry level 6. Leather on Drying Rack was also added there. - Blood Circus moved to Troublesome difficulty.
Fixed
- Fixed Wolverine Claw stats. - Spore Lamp is now valuable. - Fixed graphic for Mahogany Log. - Fixed resource consumption when building using stash resources. - Fixed generating new buildings in settlements on z levels that were unavailable. - Dwarves no longer struggle to find their own beds. - Fixed Tree Sapling growth. - "Covered in..." status disappears at 0%.
Modding
- Fixed an issue where abilities didn't load for editing when they had special characters in the name.
As promised, I also have some pics for the upcoming major update. It's still WIP, but it's mostly balancing, improvements, and polishing left. As I mentioned previously, we'll have complete freedom to build our settlements without template buildings, and all we'll have to do is meet certain conditions and select an area where the building will be placed.
Once we set up our buildings, they will show up in the new Settlement Management GUI window:
This is where we'll assign buildings to families, people to buildings (if we want to), send out caravans with our goods, monitor the food stock, wealth, and stash, and build our military might for companion reserve and preparation for future wars.
I hope you like this little preview. We'll have more details and a short tutorial for you next week - subscribe to our YouTube channel so you won't miss it. Generating a new world won't be necessary when the v0.8 update hits, so you can start preparing with materials and gold already. You'll need a lot of resources to build a big city that can sustain some workers.
- New Game Plus added to the game - New sidequest (only available on new game plus) - You can now skip the game intro - Some quality of life tweaks here and there - Fixed a bug that caused high level monster to appear in the spring factory entrance for lower difficulties - Fixed a moving platform in the spring factory area
How do I start a new game+?
once you beat the game, you can restart any saved game as new game plus. Your weapons, powerups and maps will be preserved so you can keep growing stronger!
How do I enter the new sidequest zone?
Once you start a new game plus, play as normal until you reach Treasure Island I. Go to the leftmost part of the island and a new building will be there. Inside you'll start your trip to the new area.

We’re excited to share that modders can now download the Homeworld 3 Mod Tools & Editor to create and distribute mods via https://mod.io/g/homeworld3! Players can easily download user created Skirmish maps to Homeworld 3 through the integrated mod.io menu!
For modders:
This editor is separate from Homeworld 3 and allows you to create content specifically for the game. It includes elements that can be used to create Skirmish maps and the packaging tool for exporting those maps for testing and uploading to mod.io.
Once you have downloaded the Editor you will be able to start creating content!
Not sure where to get started?
We’ve worked with our partners at https://mod.io/g/homeworld3 and a select group of modders to provide documentation to help you begin making mods for Homeworld 3! Most of this documentation will be focused on creating and uploading Skirmish maps.
Modding: Unreal Engine – This guide covers the essential features and functions of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor, providing instructions and tips to help beginners navigate and use the tools effectively.
Modding: Create a Skirmish Map – Your first steps in creating your Skirmish Level, giving an overview on how to get started and references for the various sub-levels.
You are now able to download mods for Skirmish maps from the in-game Homeworld 3 mod menu.
From the Mods menu, you’ll be able to browse and search for specific mods. Only Skirmish Maps can be downloaded and run in the game without additional steps. For these mods, select “Subscribe and Install” to add them to your game.
Some mods will have a “Manual Install” tag applied to them. While these can be downloaded from the game client, you will need to perform additional steps to run them. Select “More Info” in the mod’s selection pop up to open a browser window that takes you to the mod.io page where you can see details about the mod and how to fully install it.
Enjoying a created mod?
Show support for your favorite mods and modders by giving their mods a “👍”! Rate mods through https://mod.io/g/homeworld3. If you’re in-game, selecting “More Info” in the mod’s selection pop up and pressing 👍 on the mod page. Higher rated mods will appear first when sorted by Rating and will be more easily discoverable for other players.
We’re looking forward to seeing the maps and other creative ways that you’ll experience Homeworld 3 with the custom editor! Even more excited to play with you in multiplayer on your own maps!
This week's update adds a new NPC to the game. You can find him in Salem and he might spill some interesting tea...
Additionally, we are adding two new bullets, which were inspired by some ideas from "LeEpicH" on the Discord.
Broken Arrow is... well, it's a broken arrow. What more can I say about it? I guess two arrows are better than one tho, even if one is broken...
The second bullet definitely goes well with those arrows, whether they are broken or not!
This update also brings a change to DISINTEGRATION. To help your memory a little bit, bullets with disintegration loose 1 dmg on rotate. With this update, they will also destroy themselves once they have 0 damage left. It's a small change, but it opens up some possibilities with destroy and further reinforces the mindset of having to strategically place your bullets to prevent them from dying. However, the mystery bullet might just be the perfect bullet to not only keep the disintegration bullets alive, but also strengthen them in the process. If you have two, that is...
As always, we will monitor this change. Let us know what you think about it!
Whats Next?
Unfortunately, in preparation for the first major update, we have decided to suspend the regular weekly updates for now to focus on developing new features. However, this doesn't mean there won't be any smaller updates; they just won’t be on a regular basis. Leading up to the release of the big update, we will share more information with you through a .Forty-five Bulletin, where we discuss changes and new additions. We hope you understand, making the weekly updates slowed down the development a lot. However, there still will be small updates that might add NPCs, teasers, or a bullet here and there; they just won’t be regular. We will announce on our discord when the next update drops; you can join it here.
Also, we have a lot of new bullets and mechanics planned for the big updates, so don't worry, you won't run out of firepower anytime soon :)
We hope you understand our decision, and we look forward to seeing you in the Frontier.
It's no longer possible to place additional Sourcers and Shippers on Megalaser Mishap and bypass most of the level.
Fixed a bug where having no saves for either of the last two levels would mean attempting to play either of them would always send you to Hexahedra Hijack, even if you wanted to play Hijacking Hexahedra.
Updated Unity version to fix an audio issue with some Linux distributions.
Two new packs for RPG Maker! Head to the Wild West with the new KR Wild West Tileset! Introduce 16 new characters to your game with RPG Character Pack 13!
Howdy partners, if you’ve been wanting to make a game all about cowboys then the KR Wild West Tileset is for you! Kokoro Reflections is back with another tileset with interior and exterior tiles to create a dusty town filled with ruffians and troublemakers. Make sandy deserts filled with different cacti that slowly transform into scrubland with yucca and trees where your heroes can track down thieves hiding in closed mines. Create a town where your heroes can rest at the local inn, store their hard-earned gold in the bank’s metal vault, talk to people in the sheriff’s small jail cell, play a hand of poker at the saloon, and more with this pack!
A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, and 4 B sheets offer up tons of tiles to build a little town at the edge of the wilderness. Focusing on wooden walls and furniture, this pack includes tons of little details to tell stories with just your maps. Leave bags of mail waiting to be sorted into mail slots in the post office to show that it’s understaffed, and hang large hunks of meat next to barber chairs in the grocers/barbershop where the owner is happy to share that he’s also the town’s surgeon. Make sure your heroes easily know what each wooden building is with large signs that proudly state what is there, or just mark the places your heroes will need to visit with small signs next to the doors.
This pack also includes 7 character sprites for flames, chests, and doors. Have your hero find useful items in wooden crates and unlock heavy safes to find more money, or kick open swinging saloon doors to put together a team that will break into the local bank’s huge vault! Pick up the KR Wild West Tileset and build rustic towns for your heroes to protect (or rob!) away from the hustle and bustle of city life!
Add new NPCs and possible party members to your game with RPG Character Pack 13! Gee-kun-soft is at it again with another 16 characters to populate your fantasy and sci-fi games. Receive quests from a chipper pink-haired princess, get healed by a duo of nurses, battle dangerous swordsmen and wicked wizards, and even join a sci-fi crew with this pack! Each character comes with a MZ-style walking sprite, downed sprites, front view enemy images, side view battler sprites, faceset with 8 different emotions, and busts so you can give your new party members a full storyline and detailed menu scenes! Fight against an armored royal guard with a serious face and mohawk to prove that you deserve to meet with the princess, or flee from the royal warrior woman who wears her hair in a loose braid and easily swings a battle ax if she finds you in the castle. Learn new spells from an elderly wizard dressed in his dark robes and compete with his young brunette apprentice until he decides to join your party. Or travel to the edge of the galaxy with uniformed ship commanders and crewmates dressed in lightweight outfits.
This pack also includes high-resolution versions of each character so you can adjust their size to be exactly what you need. Want to have a scene where the blond swordsman gets really close to the player’s screen? Then use the high-resolution image to keep things looking crisp! Pick up RPG Character Pack 13 and add even more heroes, villains, and important NPCs to your games!
