Autonomous Anarchy - TomKnocker44
Hey everyone,

We just released a minor update for the Autonomous Anarchy Demo that brings improved graphics, new features, and fixes some bugs. This will likely be that last update for the demo until we release the complete version of the game. We are aiming for a release in late October - early November!


Update Features:
  • Revamped a bunch of sprites, such as background tiles and environment details
  • Added screen shake (can be disabled in the options menu)
  • Added a game over music jingle
Weapon Rebalancing
We've tweaked several weapons to make them a bit more useful
  • All explosive weapons now create their explosion at the impact point instead of the center of the projectile, which gives them a bit more piercing power against groups of enemies

  • Orange + Pink
    • Damage falloff reduced from 50% > 25%
    • Pierce reduced from 10 > 4
    • Projectile speed increased from 25 > 30
    • Range increased by 20%
  • Charge - Yellow
    • Now automatically charges when not being fired, and fires a weak rapid fire shot when held
  • Blue + Purple
    • Pierce increased from 1 > 3 with 50% pierce reduction
    • Now slices enemies multiple times and will home to others after the first target is destroyed
  • Pink + Purple
    • Now gains 10% more damage for each target hit, up to a max of 40%
  • Spread - Green
    • Reduced damage falloff from 75% > 50%
  • Missile - Pink
    • Increased single target damage 5 > 9
    • Explosion damage remains the same
  • Chaser - Purple
    • Reduced spread by 33%
Other Changes
  • Co-op now boosts enemy health and spawn rates a bit less, with all bonuses reduced from 50% > 40%. Co-op was feeling a bit more difficult compared to the same difficulty in single-player, so this should bring it more in line with what we intended.
  • Several rooms have had some small touch-ups to improve their gameplay.
  • Teleporter colours are now more consistent, with only one colour for the entrance and one colour for the exit for rooms with multiple exits. Additionally, rooms with multiple entrances will have the unused entrance removed and replaced with a power-up.
  • Buoys are now destroyable, so you can now fulfill your buoy-slaughtering fantasies.

After more than 200,000 recruits ventured into the procedurally-generated depths of Chasm, Bit Kid sought to return to the Metroidvania genre, while eschewing procedural generation in favor of a single, intricately-designed world. Bit Kid brought together artistic talent behind the Shantae series, Freedom Planet 2, and Sparklite along with a heroic chiptune soundtrack courtesy of musician RushJet1 (Cave Story+, Alwa’s Legacy, PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator).



“While I’ve always been a big fan of retro games and pixel art, I really wanted to dive deep into the style of NES and 8-bit gaming,” said James Petruzzi, founder and lead developer at Bit Kid. “We’re aiming to be as authentic as possible, stylistically: an 8-bit color palette, 320×180 pixel resolution, and a soundtrack composed in Famitracker which has enabled homebrewers to create authentic NES music for many years.”

🔥 Added a new sound to indicate to players the validation of full gauges as well as burnt crates for the factory
🔥 Added a corridor between the two rooms at the bottom of the factory to allow players to join each other
🔥 Added a portal and corresponding buttons in this new corridor to access the next room
🔥 Added two doors to be opened to separate the corridor and the two player rooms
🔥 Added the name of the author of the new validation sound to the credits

💠 Crate dropper collisions for the factory have been adjusted to simplify ‘shortcuts’
💠 The speed of the factory dropper has been increased to improve mobility
💠 Changed the font of the numbers linked to the goal puzzle buttons
💠 The access to the factory floor has been changed, the springboard has been destroyed cause it was no longer needed
💠 Some objects behind which the player could get stuck have been moved
💠 The destinations of the teleporters leading to the factory for players 1 and 2 have been reversed
💠 The order in which some rooms were played was changed to alternate test and puzzle

Corrections :

🛠️ Fixed the problem that prevented player 2 from throwing bananas quickly
