We're taking our latest Netspectre build to GameAccess in Brno next weekend (30/5-1/6), so come say hi and play it if you'll be around! The current build is perfectly playable from start to finish, so you can see whether you'll manage to beat it. Beware that we're not making it easy whatsoever! See you there –
I have to admit, Waterloo is much harder than Gettysburg. The rules are quite a bit more involved, and the size of the map is much bigger. Building the AI is probably going to be the biggest challenge - the number of roads on the map makes it much more difficult to look at all the possible moves the AI can make. Having an AI opponent is something we definitely want, though.

In last month’s Developer stream, we announced that Top Gun: Maverick would be removed from Microsoft Flight Simulator on May 25th due to our license agreement with Paramount coming to a close. As we were all a bit sad about this news, we contacted Paramount and both parties agreed to extend our agreement for another two months. You can continue to download and enjoy the Top Gun: Maverick expansion until July 25th. Happy flying!
Speaking of Developer Livestreams, our next one is coming up in a week on Wednesday, May 29! Tune in to our official Twitch channel at 10:30am PDT (1730 UTC) to hear our regular panel of Jorg, Seb, Martial, and special guests answer questions from the community and discuss the future of Microsoft Flight Simulator!
Also next week, we are launching a new City Update and Local Legend aircraft! City Update 7: European Cities 2 includes enhanced imagery for Barcelona, Madrid, Monte Carlo, Nice, Porto, and Stockholm. Local Legend 17 is the Short SC.7 Skyvan, known affectionately as the "Flying Shoebox". Both City Update 7 and Local Legend 17 are scheduled to release on May 28.
Finally, please note that the regular Marketplace release of new and updated products for May 23 has been postponed until tomorrow (Friday, May 24) because of the Sim Update 15 launch. We will update this post with the new/updated Marketplace releases on Friday.
This update includes a ton of new Unreal Engine 5 assets that we're testing. Here's an example of a new map we're planning for a military outpost:
There's also dynamic weather that we've setup so the map is sometimes day time or night time, which will automatically enable/disable dynamic lighting such as industrial lights and spotlights.
We plan to add a lot more assets over the coming weeks as well. This should make the game feel fresh and up-to-date prior to re-releasing back on the store.
This update also addresses a critical issue with throwables falling through the ground when landing in water. It fixes a problem with footsteps as well that caused them to sound as if they're behind the player when spectating another player.
We don't disappear from the radar! Today the Dixotomia VR team is sharing the development totals for April! 📃
Game Design
In game design, we've got a lot of updates again: Vampire's new ability, Blood Spear. The ability will form a spear in front of your hand that will fly in a straight line and deal damage to enemies. The trick of this mechanic will be the damage, it will increase depending on the number of targets killed by the ability. The ability can be upgraded to a charged attack. The charged attack will have a high damage initial damage, but it will not pierce the enemy, his target is only one.
The ability of the first mission's boss, Duncan, has been finalized.
New mechanics, increasing difficulty and dynamics of the first boss fight. Duncan will use his energy revolver with laser sight to deal impressive damage to the player. Duncan will aim the scope at the player for a while, before loading a shot and firing it at the hero's location.
In certain situations during combat, Duncan will use this teleportation ability with a boosted melee attack. It will work like this: the boss will teleport in front of the player, make a dash straight towards him and deal melee damage. This ability is designed to complicate the fight with the boss and give the player the impression that it is impossible to escape from Duncan.
Also spelled out a lot of new dialog, branches, tutorials, and different response options.
3D and Animation
New hand animation Here we didn't get anything for a long time. And we should have gotten cool new hands, in which you can see the forearm, and the hand is unlocked. There is no such thing on the market today, and all the examples of how it should work were only in my head. We did a lot of calling, drawing and trying to explain to each other what we wanted to get as a result. One head is good, but five heads are even better. We finally managed to make something sane, haha. No, the hands are really on fire, we'll show you a little later on our social media!
In addition to the fact that the hand can now be rotated in all directions, it doesn't shake, it doesn't break, we've fixed the simulation of the elbows position in space. This greatly increases immersiveness in the game. We also unlocked the ability to make a very flexible weapon recoil system with this feature. Are you sure we did that? It seems like we're really cool.
There's one more thing to do with the arms: it's the addition of Meta Sound when the arm bends and unbends. It's not magic, it's Dixotomia. I'd also like to mention again that we did this because of our combined effort and knowledge. The team may be decentralized, but we keep each other very tightly informed and constantly in touch. Sometimes it's like an assembly line, where everyone knows what they need to do and we get a cool product at the end.
The plan was to make a master material for ERM and ORM cards at once, which would reduce the total number of materials in the project many times. But there was a question whether it will not reduce productivity.....
I am excited to announce that I will be making KIRO II: The Wizards Guild free to download and keep on steam!
It has now been a few years since I developed on launched KIRO II: The Wizards Guild. It was a fun little multiplayer project to develop and I learned a lot while developing it. I feel like I have grown significantly as a game developer and I don't feel like the game is worthy enough to keep behind a paywall so I made the decision to transfer it to free-to-play.
I wanted to make this announcement to warn anyone who is interested in the game to not buy the game and just wait for it to transition to free-to-play.
Featuring a myriad of new gameplay mechanics, systems, unique items, and more, Escalation raises the bar for Unturned.
Escalation's arsenal is designed to feel great between immersive animations, precise attention to detail, and high-quality sound design. A great deal of focus went into weapon balance to ensure that each gunfight feels fair.
You may come across certain objects that can be shot or blown up. When set off, these objects can cause considerable harm to any unfortunate souls caught in their wake.
Strike Calls are powerful, single-use offensive weapons. They can be utilized with the assistance of an LTLM (Laser Target Locator Module) to cause considerable damage at a targeted location.
Base building is designed to be easy to understand but also has a great depth of functionality and detailing. Complex structures are available to those who choose to make them. A variety of decorations allow any survivor to decorate their base however they like.
To host a server running the map add its workshop file ID (3251926587) to the File_IDs list in WorkshopDownloadConfig.json, and set the map to "Escalation" (without quotes) in Commands.dat.
For the next two weeks, as part of the map's release event, you can craft a random new limited item from Menu > Survivors > Inventory > Crafting.
This project was created by dug, NSTM, Renaxon, and Witness Protection. If you enjoy the map and would like to support them, consider checking out their items in the Stockpile:
