To say we're excited would be an understatement! Only 7 days left so we wanted to just share some of the happenings on our end.

Since our launch announcement, Carbon and I have spent every spare minute playing through the game again. Looking for last minute bugs, typos, and tweaking a few tuning numbers one more time. Everything is feeling great, so we checked in a slew of these small changes for our press build. Then we spent a large majority of last week emailing gaming news sites and trying to extend our marketing reach to new audiences. We sure hope they are enjoying the preview of the game, but we probably won't find out until launch week. 🤞

I also just wanted to mention if you missed it, that the game has full controller support and is fully STEAM DECK COMPATIBLE. We don't have control over when we might get official Steam Deck verification, but rest assured it works great!

Our goal for this last week is to continue playing, continue outreach, and continue supporting all of you and answering any last minute questions. It's final countdown time and don't forget to wishlist if you haven't already!

Our new game-jam-spawned eldritch baby, Pool of Madness, has a brand new demo and it's only available for the duration of the Endless Replayability Fest, so make sure to give it a spin!

Pool of Madness Endless Replayability Fest Demo - major updates:
  • updated graphics, visibility & high resolution
  • rewritten physics
  • new feature: ability to freeze the ball (check Help), making the gameplay more dynamic and unique
  • new phase, power bar, explosion & blood marks and other smaller changes!
The first demo was a huge success, resulting in 11,000 wishlists and a very enthusiastic response from players, which was an awesome surprise, as it was a very early build of the game created within a month since the internal game jam that spawned PoM. We've used your feedback to introduce some updates to Early Demo #2 and plan to do the same with the current demo, so we'll really appreciate all your opinions (here on our Steam forum, Twitter or Discord!).

Please note that Pool of Madness is very much a work in progress and we're working on improving every aspect of the game. We're sharing an updated demo so we can continue gathering feedback from players early and shape the game together.

Thanks so much to everyone who's taken the time to play Hades II in Early Access so far! We've been delving into all your impressions and feedback, and we're very excited to move forward in this new phase of development. In this post, we wanted to share our short-term plans.

We're Focused on a Smooth Play Experience
Following our launch, we've deployed several small hotfixes that alleviated rare crashes and progression bugs. We typically don't provide patch notes for small technical hotfixes such as this, though they help us make sure we're building on a solid foundation. We are continuing to watch for error reports closely.

We're Gathering Feedback and Data
Impressions posted here on Steam, our official Discord, and beyond are letting us gauge how everyone's feeling about the game and how that aligns with our goals. With the help of our translators, we're getting feedback from players all over the world! We're also collecting anonymous gameplay data voluntarily submitted by players, which helps us identify opportunities to improve the balance of Boons, weapons, foes, and so on. This is an ongoing process that's just getting started.


Our First Patch is In the Works!
Our first patch should be coming later this month, though note we don't have a more-specific timeline. With it, we're looking for improvements we can make in the near term, in a way that makes Hades II better for everyone and come closer to realizing our goals. For example:

  • Resource Gathering: We want Hades II players to focus on goals that are important to them, though don't want resource gathering to feel too frustrating, such as if you didn't bring the right gathering tool along for the ride.

  • Getting Around: It's important to us that Melinoë have her own distinct style, and for players to be able to navigate her battles and other interactions in a nimble, responsive, expressive way. We have ideas for how to improve her Dash and Sprint.
Our first patch will likely have a few other enhancements and fixes, and we'll have comprehensive patch notes when the time comes. So stay tuned!

We're Considering Our First Balance Changes
If you were with us for the Early Access development of the original game, you know we love making balance changes! We're always looking for opportunities to make the content and choices in the game as interesting as we can. However, we're still gathering feedback and data that helps inform the kind of changes we like to make, so don't expect too many such changes just yet.

We will likely have at least one more patch after our first, to make additional improvements and fixes in the short term. From there, we will focus on the development of our first Major Update planned for some months from now, which will contain various new features and content.

Early Access has already been incredibly instructive to us about ways in which we might make Hades II the best it can be. We really appreciate you playing and taking the time to share your impressions with us! Death to Chronos!

Looking for games endlessly replayable!?

You've come to the right place. Line War is a very different type of multi-genre RTS. It uses a command-oriented system to control units, that puts higher emphasis on strategic intent and reduces the need for micro-management. The game is a natural choice for Steam's Endless Replayability Fest as it includes many elements that enables endless replay:

  • Infinite Exploration: Explore an endless array of procedurally generated maps, each waiting to be conquered. Change to another randomized seed with the click of a button: A new map with an entirely different composition and distribution of water, land and special sites is created! Save & recall your favourite seed using just this magic number.
  • Dynamic Starting Locations: Strategize and stake your land claims in the innovative Picking Phase. It's an interesting game-within-a-game where 'Zones of Interest' are claimed on the map for each player. Then pick your actual starting location (not revealed to your opponent) from among these zones.
  • Continued Development: The game just got a major addition on May 5 when single-player AI & Co-Op was added. And there's more to come!
