Hey horror enthusiasts! We are now one week away from participating in a local game festival where we will showcase Freja to visitors and let people playtest it. As such, a big priority lately has been polishing what we already have to make an interesting playslice. The updated playslice might also be used for curators later on depending on how it goes at the festival. One part of the polishing has been improving the minigame "Mazerunner" to better integrate it into the story and make it look more unique with our own character and overall better environment design. In other words, it looks less like a bunch of placeholders and more like an actual minigame.
What has been done since last update
- Improved Mazerunner - Polished a lot of the levels in the game - Worked on the final levels of the game - Implemented steam achievements
What to do moving forward
We are hopefully looking at a summer release for the game. At least, that's what we're hoping for. The upcoming week will be spent polishing Freja further and then show it off at the festival. The feedback we get from it will hopefully be valuable and help us improve the game further. We will continue to work on the final parts of the game after that and begin testing everything and improve the performance.

For our in game mini-map the idea was to create a seamless transition from the game world to a 3D overview map - zooming out from 3rd Person to the overview map and then zooming back in to 3rd person when closing it. In Build 4 the zooming out works pretty much as I would like it to be. The zooming back in is still WIP but I decided to move on as it's a bit less important right now.
Here you can see the zoom out to mini-map.
Then in the Mini-map you can use the mouse to zoom in and out and pan around the map and click on a town to fast travel to it.
And then, next up is the creation of Villages/Towns/Cities. Here's a quick look at a generator I started working on. I'll give some more details on the next update.
