It's been awhile since the last Steam update! The game is coming along nicely, and after many major updates, I felt like it earned a version bump to 0.3.0! This update has a major focus on overall presentation (graphics and visual improvements), level layouts, resource collection, and tutorials. Here's a full list of everything that's changed since last time:
Complete world layout overhaul! The game is more linear to start off, providing much better tutorials for dodging and healing. The town and surrounding areas have all been redone. The cave is now located after the tutorials are finished, connecting the town to the ruins. The flower worm boss is now treated as a 'final boss' for the demo, requiring all other content to be completed before you can fight it. Overall, the overall progression of the game makes a lot more sense!
No more boring coins… instead, you'll find resources all around the game! These are meant to be quick and easy to pick up - seeds fall from trees, exploding rocks reveal some ore, chests contain gold, and water sources have plenty of fish! Each of these resources have their own function, and each spawn point operates on a 10 minute timer, meaning it's always beneficial to go back through previously visited areas.
The newly designed cave now features an updated entry into the fight with Eyeris, as well as some improvements to the fight itself. After the fight, you'll be introduced to a few new mechanics involving the seeds, as well as the first climbable wall.
There are now a bunch of interactable props, including boxes, pots, shelves, logs, and barrels, which burst apart when you hit them with an attack!
Ambience (environmental) sounds, like wind and rain, are now added to the overall mix and can be adjusted in the settings menu.
More movement in the environment, especially the animated trees!
The torch has been reworked to longer use ammo. Instead, it visually indicates when it's able to shoot fire, which reforms after a cooldown.

Fixing general performance issues and crashes
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Check for graphics driver updates.
Reinstall the Graphics driver.
Check Windows updates - including the optional updates.
Increase quality as desired to the system capability
Ensure Gray Zone Warfare is not affected by firewalls or antivirus - you will be surprised.
Control Panel -> System -> Security -> Windows Firewall
Advanced settings -> Highlight Inbound Rules (the left panel)
New Rule -> Program -> This Path - Browse
Add the following: steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZW\Binaries\Win64\GZWClientSteam-Win64-Shipping
Open -> Allow the connection -> Domain, Private & Public -> Name - GZW
Repeat for steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\GZWClientEAC
Disable NVIDIA Instant Replay and Overlay
Alt + Z -> Settings -> Turn off Instant Replay
Right-click on the NVIDIA System Tray icon -> Select NVIDIA GeForce Experience -> Log in with your NVIDIA Account -> Settings (top right, gear icon) -> General -> Turn off In-Game Overlay.
Playing with color blind mode ON with the first setting can increase FPS.
Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
[In case you have enough Drive Space] NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D settings -> Global Settings -> Settings tabs -> Restore -> Change Shader Cache to 10 GB
[If you have spare RAM, 32 GB+] - Change Virtual Memory Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Performance - Settings -> Advanced - Virtual Memory - Change -> Disable "Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers" -> Select the drive where GZW is located -> Select "No paging file" -> Set
If the steps above fix your crashes but result in the game closing, try setting a limit on the page file based on the free RAM you have when the game is running 1000
In-game Steam Authorisation Errors are usually caused by connection issues between GZW & Steam or Steam and the GZW Server.
To fix this issue, you can try the following:
Turn off IPv6
Right-click Network Icon -> Open Network & Internet settings -> Change adapter options -> Double-click Ethernet Adapter that you are using for LAN -> Properties -> Scroll down and untick Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) -> Click OK -> Click Close -> Restart your PC
Change the DNS server in network settings to manually and use one of these Google: 8.8.8.8 & - 8.8.4.4 Quad9: 9.9.9.9 & 149.112.112.112 OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220 Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1 AdGuard DNS: 94.140.14.14 & - 94.140.15.15 CleanBrowsing: 185.228.168.9 & - 185.228.169.9 Alternate DNS: 76.76.19.19 & - 76.223.122.150 Completely reboot your modem/router
If that doesn't work, it could be a permissions error on your system.
Locate steam.exe on your computer.
Right-click Properties.
Compatibility tab.
Check "Run as administrator."
More information here.

Skalla.dll Error
The most common cause for the Skalla.dll missing Error is the system does not support AVX2 Unfortunately, if your system does not have AVX2, you do not meet the minimum specifications required to run GZW.
This will be linked to Windows updates or missing files if you do.
Complete all Windows updates.
Downloaded the latest Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable version
Install & Restart your system

GPU Crashes Troubleshooting
Ensure that all of your drivers are up to date.
There's a known crash issue due to the outdated AMD GPU Drivers. Install the latest AMD Graphics Drivers (May 4th)
Check you have at least 8GB of VRAM.
Check Windows updates for optional updates.
Freshly reinstall graphics drivers.
Change AA to performance and put A 30 Frame Rate Cap on.
Increase over time till the error comes back.
If you crash with FSR turned on - Turn off hardware acceleration.
Graphics: Right-click the desktop, go to "Display Settings" > "Graphics" > "Change default settings," then turn off "hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling."
Audio: Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Sound" > "More sound settings" > your audio device > "Properties" > "Advanced," and uncheck "Allow hardware acceleration."
If this doesn't work, turn off FSR and use DLSS.
Turn off all BIOS OC.
Turn OFF any OC profiles for CPU and GPU (and possibly RAM profiles). There is a known issue with Overclocking causing instability in Unreal Engine 5 games (including Gray Zone Warfare).
Out of Video memory popup (Nvidia crashed and had performance issues.)
Check your Drivers
NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D settings -> Global Settings -> Settings tabs -> Restore
Turn off Instant Replay and Overlay
AMD GPU crash
Install/Reinstall AMD Adrenalin

Welcome to our second fireside chat. In this one, we'll be giving you a look at the Spellblade and the Temple of Light.
Spellblade
The Spellblade hails from a clan of mages that work with runes and the elements. This group is mostly detested by the Cult of Light for, unlike those who use divine power, the mages gain their power solely through the runes and their own will. Curiously, these mages live among the dwarves in the northern snowy mountains. These dwarves value strength and, seeing that in the mages, welcome them into their wintry community.
The Spellblade gains the upper hand on his foes by using weapons derived from the elements.
Skill: Splitting Glaciers - A skill that draws forth the power of ice and frost. It is a powerful axe made of Ice that creates a frost wave in front of the Spellblade.
Legendary Equipment : Glacial Crusher
A Frost Axe summoned by the Spellblade for Splitting Glaciers.
Skill: Lightning Strike - An elemental skill harnessing the power of lightning. The Spellblade strikes the ground to create a wave of lightning that zaps enemies nearby.
Legendary Equipment : Lightning Separator
A unique weapon that calls forth additional lightning spears when casting Lightning Strike.
The Temple of Light
Built by the Cult of Light, the temple is a place for many wandering spirits who decided to make it their home. The Cult chose men of great piety to guard their temple: the honorable and renowned Baron Vandevius and his knight Monaxen. Baron Vandevius, corrupted and grief stricken by the loss of his son, darkens the once shining temple.

This update introduces new ways for Mages to get around the school faster. Broom Racks provide point to point flight and Hallway Runners let Mages move faster in hallways. Mages can also now batch resource deliveries, making Haul tasks more efficient.
Update Changelog
Broom Travel
New Broom Rack lets Mages fly between any two Broom Racks as long as there is a Broom available.
Brooms are created by delivering Wood to Broom Racks.
Hallway Runners
New Hallway Runner rugs with updated visuals provide a speed boost to Mages walking on them.
They are placed on the front edge of Floor/Foundation by dragging out a row.
They can now be placed in doorways.
Pre-existing Hallway Runners have not been removed, but can no longer be created in the old way.
AI and Resource Drop Improvements
When delivering Resources for Tasks, Mages doing the Haul Tasks will pick up multiple stacks of the same Resource if possible to consolidate multiple trips into one.
When a Resource is picked up for Storage, the entire stack will be taken. If the whole stack cannot fit in the destination Storage, the amount that will fit is added and another destination chosen for the rest. If no other Storage is available, the remaining amount is left on the ground.
Haulers will try to put Resources in Storage furnishings that already have some of that Resource, if the Storage is in the same room as the otherwise ideal Storage destination and both Storage destinations have the same Priority.
Move Tasks choose the closest Mage that is ready for the Task so that a far-away Mage doesn’t take the Task when there's an idle or interruptible Mage nearby.
When new Resources are dropped, allow them to stack with other Resources already claimed for a Store task.
Multiple small changes making Resource drops more likely to add to existing stacks. Bubble text now appears when this happens.
Gameplay Changes
All Hallowlily Bloom costs are replaced with Smokepearl costs.
Graves still grow Hallowlilies for decorative purposes but they can no longer be Harvested or Tended.
Graves no longer create Ghosts.
The research hierarchy has been modified slightly. If this directly affects your save game, you should get a notification when you first visit the Research screen.
When a Mage repels Fog covering the school foundation to become Font Steward, that status is removed from all other Mages.
Needs for Cursebound Mages and Mages Trapped in Crystals are frozen rather than being reset to full.
Needs for Mages that are At Death’s Door update as if the Mage was sleeping normally instead of always being frozen.
Repel Fog rituals always drop Murky Crystals that can be mined for Smokepearls.
Fixes & Improvements
Auto-pause for Reprieve events defaults to off in Gameplay Settings.
Added VFX to eat and sleep animations.
You can now right-click to make a direct order for construction on a construction block that is being replaced.
Changed Ghost movement so Ghosts are less likely to travel long distances while halfway in the ground.
Fixed an issue where using a potion between battles in a locked wing of the Underschool can result in not being able to use potions of that type in the next battle.
Fixed an issue where the Provided Tasks tab on a selected Mage could overflow.
Doors, hallways, and stairs that are deconstructed will check areas that will be automatically filled in for items that are in the way and move or remove them (refunding Resources) as appropriate.
Fix for Store alerts icons sometimes blinking in at the wrong location briefly.
Fix incorrect 'bury' text when giving direct order to store a quilted helper corpse.
Sort available Tasks to the top of right-click orders UI.
Fix cases where Mages were stuck when trying to deliver ingredients when there weren't enough available.
Fix for not being able to place objects where you should, related to doors being marked for deletion. Also back-compat fix for games broken in this way.
Fix clicks and hovers not working for truncated names in the resources panel. Primarily affects various Quilted types, particularly corpses.
Fix group skill range to be 0-8 instead of 0-7.
What's In The Works?
These plans will evolve during development, but we are currently working on:
Major Release: Mage advancement changes.
Major Release: Dragons!!! Now with 3 exclamations.
