Deep Russian Depression - Grigory K.
A few hours ago, I received a long-awaited response from customer support. They apologized for the lengthy review and identified two issues with Deep Russian Depression that need to be addressed before submitting the game build for re-review.

Valve Corporation takes financial matters seriously, and the first issue is that their employees don't fully understand the programming aspect of the current distribution and monetization system for user-generated content in Deep Russian Depression.

The other issue is that the process of creating modifications is not as simple as advertised on the game's store page. A buyer may get the false impression that they're dealing with a visual novel constructor. Deep Russian Depression is not a constructor, as there's no special functionality within the application for creating modifications.

Both claims are justified. Customer support doesn't oppose my innovative ideas, but they require a build where all the game's features are available for use within the application without any external interactions.

Unfortunately, creating such a build in a short time is difficult considering my skills and the initial data. In order for the game to be released, the previously announced features will be adapted to Valve's requirements.

The ability to create modifications based on Deep Russian Depression will remain unchanged, but it will reluctantly cease to be a key feature of the application, resulting in changes to the game's page on the Steam store in the near future.

As before, users will be able to upload their additional stories, sprites, and backgrounds to the Workshop to share them with the community, but only on a non-commercial basis: monetizing such content through Steam will not be possible.

The in-game store and Steam inventory will be temporarily disabled: in some project development scenarios, this functionality may be useful in the future.

Once all necessary changes have been made, I will request a re-review of the game build. Considering that the last review took almost three months, the next one may be equally lengthy, although this is unlikely.

I will definitely notify you of the results as soon as they become available.

You know how you don't sleep well before finally releasing your game out of Early Access and then forget about something you had planned to do, but apparently forgot to write it down, and then didn't realize it until you were playing the latest build of your game that it was a thing you forgot?

Well basically, I did that with some typos in the Food District instance, as well as updating the audio in the instance to work similarly to how it does throughout the rest of the game.

I believe I also fixed some missing audio bits in a couple of minigames that occurred after the the change from TTS voice to actual recorded voice. There are still some TTS voices used in some of the minigames, but it fits the aesthetic really well on those specific ones in my opinion, so I decided to keep them.

Ok, hopefully that's all the last minute updates and fixes for this weekend.

+ Added new item to the game: Motorcycle Helmet (Head Slot) - 10% chance to prevent incoming damage
+ Telebi now has dialogue displaying information about the different functions of the shop (refresh, insurance card, exit shop)
+ Ranged Drone Enemies now telegraph their projectile attacks
+ Added an arrow that points in the direction of the right analog stick. Controller Only.

Ecto - crack rat
Ecto had a decent launch. I was worried about the lack of content but it was reassuring seeing that people still had fun playing it. This update addresses some of the most common issues with the game from day 1.

  • Tweaked the weapon stats to attempt to balance their strengths and weaknesses better
  • Fixed a bug where you get stuck at the bottom of the well
  • The knife is limited to only damaging 3 enemies per hit
  • Robots chase players more effectively at close ranges
  • Fixed minor performance studdering on clients
  • Held Frogs no longer get hit when attacking with the knife

Thanks to everyone who played and gave their feedback! I'm just a singular wrinkydink human being and the potential quality of what I can create is greater as I hear more people's inputs and ideas.
