Added level 217



Level 217 is finally here, a liminal and safe level set on a space station. You can use clump guns to move around the pieces of space junk that are floating around the station, and eventually that will be tied to a clean-up mission. Suggested by @Niflheim on our discord server.

Added level 3.1

In another space-related change, level 3.1 is now here. A fresh new procedural level, level 3.1 is full of rocket silos, offices, and other rooms with various pieces of equipment in them. Think of level 3.1 as "ground control" for level 217.

Adjusted level 3

Level 3 is now properly colored and lit. In addition, there are now many new pieces of rubble and there is more rubble scatter. Lastly, there are some new entity spawners to give variance to the entities encountered.

Changed entity AI and added many new sounds and animations to them

Generally entities are a bit smarter now, and have some new truly terrifying sounds to boot! There are many changes with the sounds, like new alarm and chasing sounds for facelings, new footstep sounds for partygoers, faclings, and hounds, and the smiler sounds engaging only upon player detection.

Added a couple of new paths to level 666

Level 666 now has a couple of new paths. There is a fake level 0, a Japanese shrine area, and a few new creepy hallways! Previously, it was just a straight shot from the start to the finish. Not anymore.

IN OTHER BRVR NEWS

We have taken a poll as for which level to revamp next. Level 998 will be the next one, as it won the poll handily.

Second, we will be running a weeklong sale starting now at 1:00 PM EST. After which, we will be raising our price to $7.99. This is our first price increase since the very beginning. We do believe it is justified due to the amount of consistent weekly updates we have brought and the amount of important bug fixes and QOL features that have been done since launch. As always, if you have somebody interested or are interested yourself, hop on the discord and we'll give you a free copy as long as you'll provide feedback and report bugs. We will be reinvesting most all of this money into bettering the game as we always have. This means higher quality assets, faster computer hardware, and overall a better game as a result.

Lastly, due to events in real life, we will be switching update Fridays to update Thursdays. This means that the next update will be in 6 days, not 7 as usual.

Tank Squad - WinteR5

Dear Tankers,

Welcome to our 65th Development Status.

Engine version comparasion



We made a short video of what the build of the game looked like (on Built In in Unity, around October/November 2023) of the demo version compared to the current version of the game from the latest builds.



We have already covered the whole thing in previous dev statuses, what the changes consisted of and why we decided to do it. In the video, you can certainly see a big difference in the quality of the graphics and much more.



In the video below Outskirts of Morton... yes we know, there's that mission again - on defence, it's one of those missions where we test and embrace the latest innovations before we implement them on subsequent missions/scenarios.

Additional effect like suppression, damage indicators

As you can see on video above we have added also few basic effects. When receiving an direct hit fr example from enemy anti-tank gun or a tank we would see a suppression effect / vignette animation on our screen. Also when actual damage is being taken, another effect is visible - slight red overlay. This is purely a cosmetic change. Design was to make it slightly visible and for sure to not be annoying or intrusive.





Optic ocular improvements

Another new feature is the change in eyepiece magnification when aiming. The closer we zoom in, the larger the eyepiece becomes. The change is also accompanied by a pleasant sound effect.





Extinguishers

After adding a molotov cocktail to every single soviet infantry soldier we’ve ran into problems. Driving into a group of soviet infantry ends in our tank becoming a barbecue. That’s why we’ve added a quick fix - electric extinguishers that just extinguish all fires on top and close around our vehicle.



We know that electric extinguishers were very rare, especially not really exsitant for soviet vehicles, but this is a temporary approach, just to stop a critical bug of being forced to respawn after receiving few molotovs on engine bay.

Proving Grounds

What we are also working is the proving grounds. A place where you will be able to test any tank in the game at will, check ballistics penetration etc. When we will add the X-Ray system it will be an excellent diagnostic place in the game. In the next dev status we will try to record a dev log showing this scene in action.

- Dynamite fixed (finally) (due to a bug, you could only install dynamite if you didn’t die or restart the game) that's why very few players saw the boss.
- Barricades durability increased 5 times, disappearing after death/logon fixed
- Day/Night cycle is fixed. Night is 6 minutes, day 27 minutes.
- Global collision updated
- Added more bandages at the pharmacy

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy - jd
This week we have been working hard on rebalancing the item economy, the rumor economy, and the camping regime. The aim is to match these mechanics better with the hero roster.

You will find that you will need to work much harder to find and upgrade your well-made items. We have made these changes so that you have to work a little harder to get the really good gear. And with legacy items being extremely rare, hopefully you’ll think twice before risking all your high-tier equipment on a single quest.

In Haven the only spot to gain rumors is now the inn. We decided to remove rumors with traders and Haven’s gate keepers, in order to streamline the things you need to do while preparing for a run. Behind the scenes, we are already taking a closer look at the layout and locations of various functions in Haven, to make sure the ‘downtime’ between runs is not unnecessarily tedious.

Instead of camping anywhere you will need to find designated camping spots. On small nodes these spots will be easy to find. Most of the small sites have been made much smaller. Basically they are now just a simple location where you can camp, or possibly encounter folk, enemies, or prey. On larger adventure sites finding a good spot to rest will be more difficult. Probably the chance you currently encounter a campsite is a little bit too sparse, but this will be improved over time as we will be adding more designated campsites to adventure sites and simple locations.

The patch is still in beta. This is taking longer than we anticipated, but hopefully when we are ready to drop the big update, it will be worth the wait.

Gameplay Changes
- The last quest you looked at on your map is a quest you can accept at the Task Master when it is applicable.
- Retrieving the Staff of Surveyor is now a quest goal.
- Adjusting loot tables so that good weapons and armor drop less frequently.
- Legacy has become a very rare attribute only found on mission critical items.
- Legacy signets have become rarer and only bestows minor legacy.
- Traders no longer have rumors.
- The price for rumors has gone up.
- The gatekeepers in Haven no longer offer a rumor.
- Starting characters typically do not have well-made items.
- You can only camp at designated campsites.
- The quick rest option is removed.
- Reduces the size of many smaller locations so they generate and load much faster.

Bug Fixes
- Forgotten weapons quest closes correctly on completion.
