This week’s update is short and sweet, as we focus on our Game Jam projects! This week marks the start of our fifth bi-annual Game Jam – and so today’s update is rather on the small side. Tune in next week to see what we’ve been up to!
Varlamore Feedback Tweaks
Last week’s fresh batch of Combat Achievements saw you taking on Perilous Moons and the Fortis Colosseum in droves!
Notably absent from the festivities were ‘Zerker’ builds, who are limited to 45 Defence and are therefore extra challenged when completing Combat Achievements. Obtaining the prestigious ‘Zuk Helm’ on these accounts is no small feat! Unfortunately, two of last week’s Achievements are inaccessible for these players, so we’ve made some tweaks:
'Betrayal' now only requires you to use a Perilous Moons weapon for the fight instead of a full set. This still heavily incentivises the use of a full set but lets everybody have a go if they don't mind making things harder on themselves.
'I Brought Mine Too' has been updated to include all spears and hastae, as well as halberds. Spears/hastae grant Defence XP on every combat style, so we've included halberds in the mix to keep on theme and provide a more Strength-focused alternative. Note that the fight feels even trickier with a halberd, and you might have to unlearn a little bit of muscle memory to tick this one off!
Beyond the bloodshed and brutality of Combat Achievements, we've got more changes in and around the Shining Kingdom this week:
Adjusted the weight of various Moons of Peril rewards:
Eclipse Moon Helm - 0.907kg
Eclipse Moon Chestplate - 3kg
Eclipse Moon Tassets - 1kg
Blue Moon Helm - 0.453kg
Blue Moon Chestplate - 3.175kg
Blue Moon Tassets - 1.360kg
Blood Moon Helm - 0.907kg
Blood Moon Chestplate - 5.443kg
Blood Moon Tassets - 4.083kg
Unbuilt Quetzal landing sites now stand out better among Varlamore’s beautiful scenery.
Updated the names of various speed-related Colosseum Combat Achievements in line with the others.
Players who run out of Membership are now able to freely reclaim Quetzin and Smol Heredit upon regaining Membership status.
The 'Mantimayhem' modifier will no longer be offered as an option going into Wave 12, since it doesn't do anything during the Sol Heredit fight. We could add a Manticore into the mix here, but we're not sure it would be a welcome addition...
Sol Heredit will no longer damage players with his 'grab' attack after he runs out of hitpoints. Apologies to anybody who's missed out on juicy rewards as a result of this nasty bug.
Kebbity Tufts from Hunter rumours can now only be handed in if they were obtained from the same kebbit that you've been assigned.
Razor-backed kebbit footprints have been made darker so that they don't blend in with the environment quite as much. While not strictly Varlamore-related, Hunter rumours have led to these prickly fellas seeing a little engagement than they're used to!
Bees inside the Colosseum are now more visible and easier to keep track of.
It’s now possible to charge multiple Quetzal Whistles at once.
Updated the appearance of the Cam Torum pickaxe stall.
Finally, an apology! A few changes were included in a previous newspost by mistake, but are only going live today:
Nagua are now classified as spectral creatures, so should offer Prayer XP when killed if the player has an Ectoplasmator in their Inventory.
Rune prices in Nahta's shop should increase at a rate of 0.1% per missing stock, as opposed to 1%.
Mapping around the Sunfire Antelopes has been improved so they don't get stuck quite as often while you're hunting them.
Deadfall NPCs have had their pathfinding improved for similar reasons.
The Fur and Meat Pouches can now be opened to automatically accept their storeable items. Additionally, their contents can be emptied directly into the Bank.
Impling Jars and Rings of Pursuit can now be stored inside the Huntsman's Kit.
Other Changes
In other news this week:
Fixed a bug where the Imbued Slayer Helmet wasn't refunding the points/scroll used to imbue it in some instances when lost on death.
Moved the Elite Clue Step formerly inside the Wilderness Agility Course to the small mound just south of the Pirates' Hideout.
If an NPC is afflicted by venom, standard poison attacks will no longer downgrade the venom effect to a poison effect.
When you check the charges of a Tome of Fire, it now tells you what kind of page was used to charge it, meaning you're able to tell whether you're using Burnt or Searing Pages.
Leo's dialogue in the Gravedigger random event is no longer so gratuitously loquacious (apologies, we simply could not resist).
Additionally, this week sees the release of our updated 'Report Abuse' interface. We spoke about it in detail during last week's game update newspost so check that out if you didn't catch it last week! Ultimately, these improvements should improve the useability of the 'Report Abuse' system for players on both PC and mobile, make it easier to report players that you suspect aren't playing by the rules, and allow residents of EU Member State countries to report law-breaking content if it ever pops up in-game.
Apologies 'Dodgy Git', we saw your post but we're using the same image. We're sure you're a lovely, rule-abiding player, despite your username!
Game Jam V
Game Jam (or as we like to call it, ‘Jame Gam’) is in full swing once more!
We do these internal events twice a year, and they provide us with a fantastic opportunity to come together as a team and pursue passion projects outside the normal roadmap. Game Jams gone by have introduced projects that eventually became Scurrius, the Hairdresser overhaul, Perilous Moons, Wilderness updates, Project Rebalance, and more!
If you want to see what we’re up to this time, take a look at the #OSRSGameJam hashtag on X. We’re jamming until Monday, May 6th, so there’ll be no game update next week – although there may still be some downtime.
Community Updates
We've got a couple of things to update you on that aren't strictly related to game content today, so take a look before you race off to make those gains!

Thank you, everyone, for helping us cross this milestone!
It's not just a number for me, it's a reflection of the amazing community we've built together.

Firstly, please understand that this message has been written using a translation tool and may have issues with clarity.
This patch includes difficulty adjustments for store items and the mid-bosses in stages 3 and 4.
Detailed information is as follows:
1. Adjustment of player enhancement potion price in the store: decreased by 200
- With the addition of the coin resurrection feature in a previous update, the use of coins has significantly increased.
Consequently, we have readjusted the price of the player enhancement potion available for purchase after completing a stage.
2. Difficulty adjustment for mid-bosses in stages 3 and 4 We have mitigated elements that were considered unpleasant and frustrating, rather than presenting a suitably challenging difficulty.
2-1. Wine Magpie
-Machine gun box regeneration interval changed from 50 seconds to 40 seconds.
-Minor modification in the tracking method: Instead of maintaining distance from Kim Ttolttol, the approach has been adjusted to be more aggressive, allowing Kim Ttolttol to hit the target more easily.
2-2. FoFoFo-x
- Collision damage from the fox orbs removed, no longer causing damage on impact.
-However, the collision damage from the fox eye orbs that track Kim Ttolttol remains unchanged.
-Left hand summon pattern removed.
-During the rage pattern, the number of summoned minion rats changed from an average of 108 (minimum 72, maximum 144) to an average of 54 (minimum 36, maximum 72).
This concludes the announcement.
Please continue to provide feedback on any enemy patterns or difficulty levels that you find challenging, so we can actively incorporate your insights!
Thank you very much for your interest in the game I developed!
We're taking Abyss offline for our biggest patch ever, V0.6! This week, we're rolling out a series of exciting updates to transform the continent, and we'll be doing it in phases. The game server will be on and offline a lot this week.
Here's what to expect:
We have added a new feature to report bugs and submit feature requests in game. This feature will help shape our roadmap. Please use it!
Phase 1: Portal Travel & World Culling 1-4 days First up, we're overhauling how you travel and how the world manages resources. Brace yourselves; it might feel a bit like a "map simulator" for a couple of days and we may encounter more bugs than usual. As always we are available to intake bugs and fix them!
Phase 2: Gatherables & Mobs 4-5 days Get ready to see new resources and creatures! We're populating the world with all sorts of gatherable materials and mobs to fight. Some mobs may function erratically and we are ready to hotfix them.
Phase 3: Buildings, Crafting, & Loot 5-7 days We're constructing a world worth crafting in! Buildings, crafting stations, and revamped mob loot tables are coming. Prepare to build, craft, and loot your way to glory. We will be installing non PvP zones in each biome next week. Town vendors will soon no longer sell resources, it will be up to the players to stock these vendors and build the towns.
Phase 4: Lore-Driven Resource & Mob Arrangement 7+ Everything comes together as we arrange the newly added resources, mobs, and loot according to the rich lore of our world. Every element will tell part of the Abyss story.
Bonuses: Skill gain is now functional, skill trees are coming. Basic directional combat for auto attacks will be functional any day. Ranged auto attacks are being completely revamped into skill shots. Blocking is being added.
If you have signed up to playtest and do not have access, you will hear from us soon!
We know that car customization is important to you. Already in the demo, you could, among other things, paint your car. Let us know which of these features is more important to you - so that we know what to do first and where to put more emphasis ːsteamhappyː
In this section, we will talk in more detail about the work on improvements and fixes in the game from the past two weeks. Thanks as always for your bug reports!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, the tree decided to fly after it had been hit by a tank.
With sufficient acceleration, the tank made the trees forget about their mass and fly forward like blades of grass, and even spin around on their axis. It looked impressive, but it was too comical and, most importantly, unrealistic. So the reason for this behavior was identified and eliminated.
"Duck and Cover"
A plane with a nuclear bomb is approaching! The tankers continue the battle, and the pilots of all nearby aircraft fly to intercept to prevent an explosion... Or do they? Why is no one preparing for this most important event?
It turns out that the siren, designed to give a warning about the appearance of a bomber with a nuclear weapon on board, did not always work. How so? The person responsible for anti-nuclear safety was reprimanded, and the siren was put back into service and will no longer malfunction.
I shouldn't have exploded!
We've fixed a couple of cases where explosions hit tank crews when they shouldn't have.
The first case concerned the Challenger Mk.3 and Challenger DS tanks. The kinetic ammunition in the turret was not supposed to explode when hit, but time after time hits in the turret's cheeks disabled the tank. The second example relates to the T-90M. Its external explosion-proof fuel tanks should not cause damage to the crew when damaged, but due to a bug they did so.
One click less
We strive to make War Thunder more convenient in all possible situations. This time we paid attention to the vehicle purchase window.
What if you don't want to allocate a crew at that time? For example, if your purchase is only an intermediate link on the way to a truly desired technology. We have added the ability to purchase a vehicle without choosing a crew. This way, you can save yourself a click and move on to further purchases faster - you can return to the personnel issue later.
That's not all
You will find a complete list of improvements in a separate update log. Errors in the description of some armored vehicle modules have been corrected, the “spades” icon will no longer appear on vehicles for no reason, and the window for opening the Tool Box has become more beautiful.
