Hey there, everyone! 😊 After a couple of days hard at work, I'd like to announce the next major update, available now!
Introducing... THE ARENA
In the Arena, you'll be able to test your battle skills against waves of enemies. If you survive all rounds, you keep all the coin from your fallen foes. If you die, you lose your earned coins. There are 3 arenas in the game right now - one in Bear Cavern, one in Cecily Town and one in Arun Village. Find them and have fun combatting! :-)
But that's not at all. This major update introduces a lot of new gear for defensive players who love to play with a shield, or perhaps archers who want more range options!
So here's everything new, and everything that's been fixed!
ADDITIONS: - Added new spell, Homing Dark Orb - Added 8 new shields - Added new arrow types: Fire Arrow, Poison Arrow and Triple Arrows - Added 2 new bows: Mystic Bow and Elven Bow
IMPROVEMENTS: - Faith spells now scale with reputation - Dark spells now scale with negative reputation - Magic staves now scale with intelligence - Bows now scale with dexterity - Rebalanced player stats, end-game is more challenging now - Improved Tooltips to explain better how damage is calculated
Here's all the added shields, if you'd like to take a look:
And that's it for this week. Hope you enjoy this update, and have lots of fun in the arena :-)
We've been working with Tarn and Putnam in the lead-up to this beta, and DFHack is prepared to keep pace with DF beta updates. If you're on the DF beta Steam branch, please also subscribe to the DFHack adventure-beta Steam branch to keep the two apps in sync.
How are you? Spring entered the room with blossoms, and so did us with OSOM news!
LET’S OPEN THE NOSTRILS! (eyes recommended too)
1) WE HAVE A PUBLISHER!!
YES.
YES-YES-YES. After months of negotiations, we’re happy to announce that WE SIGNED A PUBLISHING DEAL WITH SELECTAPLAY!
For those who don’t know them (yet), SelectaPlay is the video games publishing branch of SelectaVisión, a Spanish video publishing company with a huuuge catalog of anime and live-action feature films, TV shows, and movies.
“Okay, cool!! …What does that mean?”
Thanks to this agreement, SelectaPlay will bring us all their support and necessary resources for:
NetherWorld’s digital and physical publishing for Nintendo Switch and PC;
Marketing and PR support before, during and after release;
Kickstarter rewards management (production and shipment).
Not bad, huh? Oh, and one more thing:
WE HAVE AN ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE!
As you may know, NetherWorld’s development will finish this year. Our intention was to release it at the end of 2024, but both the team and SelectaPlay agreed that to ensure an ideal release campaign (+ great localization, decent QA, physical edition production, etc.) the best option for the game was to move the launch date to 2025.
What hurts us the most is the delay of the release date, and we’d like to apologize for that. After all this rollercoaster of emotions called Indie Dev Life, you’ve kept showing us your support and patience, and we’re working to make this game worth the wait. Thank you <3.
Visiting SelectaPlay’s headquarters a couple days ago!
Can’t wait to show you some of the stuff we’ve started planning with them, heheheheheheMUAHAHAHA...
Meanwhile, you can follow SelectaPlay on any of their official community channels!
Maybe you noticed a little detail in the announcement video... Nope, there are no hidden Illuminati signs (this time), but we couldn’t make such a great announcement without suiting up! Here’s our brand new logo as Hungry Pixel!
3) Wait... Not the same losers!
OK we lied, that logo is not the only new face in town:
David Lleida has joined the team as Unity Developer to help us with the last steps of the game. He’s now focused on the remaining cinematics and ensuring everything works fine. Welcome!! <3
4) From Backer To NPC
As you may remember from our last update, we started the process to fulfill the long-awaited Kickstarter "Dark Soul" backer tier reward: Making their own NetherWorld NPC.
Well, we finished Phase 2 and… Here are the HD dialogue portraits!!
Wanna see the pixel art animations too? We're considering showing them in next updates or waiting until you see them ingame.
5) Scenarios
Having support on cinematics has given us the chance to keep improving details of the biggest urban areas like Gazhova and Pinksburg, such as:
Elevator system:
Why wasting money in regular elevators having an amazing manhole covers system in Gazhova’s Sewers?
Also, we added a manhole cover “caller” in case you get trapped in the stinky underground, as well as the possibility of calling it from the upper level.
First Church Throne Room:
Who sat there?
Tick Joe urban entrances:
We’ve placed most of the tick mounds in the cities, both with distinctive elements. We used little pipes instead of dirt mounds in Gazhova because, you know… it’s kinda hard digging in a 100% metal city.
Tick mound models from Gazhova (left) and Pinksburg (right).
6) Minigames
Last update we talked about bars and Tick Joe stuff, but what about new hanky-panky stuff?
As always, our amazing artist Alex has been doing some research to find inspiration for all the specific kinks and positions listed in the game design documents. Sorry, mate. The irony of searching NSFW content to work.
But do you know what is incredibly sexy too?
Adding NetherWorld to your Wishlist and joining this crazy journey!

My name is Nikki and I have been playing Lost Ark since the Beta release! I am known for being a proud enhanced weapon Deadeye main since the launch. Gunners are my favorite class. My roster consists of every single one! I look forward to any future male or female gunner releases! One of my favorite things about Lost Ark is the character creation. I enjoy making new characters and giving them a story for even more immersion. As someone who grew up playing RPG's and reading books, I also enjoy storyline quests and will always do a cozy story time stream when new content releases. Lately, I like to help new players experience endgame raids for the first time and am always willing to raid with players whether new or experienced. If you are looking for a comfy place to sit while you do your dailies or a safe place to ask questions about the game feel free to come by!
Hi everyone! My name is Aikaiita and I have been streaming Lost Ark since the Western launch. I love playing with my community and strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Each week I organize reclear parties with my chat and occasionally set up learning parties or groups for hell content. I am currently a Soul Eater main! However I love playing Gunslinger, Wardancer, Sorceress, and Artist as well. Let's hang out together! Feel free to ask me anything and I hope you all have fun in Arkesia.
Hi guys - I’m Revyll! I’m a lifelong gamer, athlete, and developer. I achieved my B.S. in Computer Science and work full time as a software engineer. I started playing Lost Ark 7 months ago when the Jump Start servers released and have been hooked ever since. My passion for the game and storytelling motivated me to share my experiences through YouTube videos & more recently streaming. When I’m not gaming or coding, I’m out golfing or hanging with my incredible wife and German Shepherd. I’m so excited for the future of this game and community and would love to share this ride with you on Twitch as we prepare for Thaemine and beyond!
