▌Hero Updates

This update brings new tactical skills for Phantom and Maychelle, along with a model optimization for Phantom, who now looks more enchanting than ever. Maychelle, the rock star, is excited to introduce everyone to her cute little rabbits! Additionally, based on actual battlefield performance and community feedback, we have made balance adjustments to some heroes, with the hope of providing a more balanced experience for everyone.

- Adjusted Tactical Skill - Portable Scout to passively increase Phantom's Headshot Damage with Sniper Rifles.

- Remade Ultimate - Optic Camo:
When groups go invisible and coordinate with teammates, it creates situations that are difficult to counter,

1. Adjusted the level-up effects: At level 9, the enhanced Hoarder Drop summons an additional Weapon Mod.

Freddie
1. Increased cooldown of Ultimate - Data Backup and reduced its duration.
2. Reduced the duration of copies generated by his tactical skill Mechanic Decoy.

Watchman
1. The Tactical Skills Sheriff's Patrol and Sentinel Alert will no longer interrupt actions such as sprinting, sliding, or reloading.

Other
1. Changed the calculation method for speed inheritance of some heroes' displacement skills to make their performance more in line with combat dynamics:

- Maggie's flying.
- Other characters when using jetpack to fly.

Adjustments for All Heroes

Added slowdown effect upon hitting
In this update, we've focused on the relationship between damage and character speed. Typically, maintaining precise aim in intense battles is a challenge, especially when your enemies are constantly on the move. In this update, we're introducing a new mechanism of universal damage slowdown.
1. Now, being attacked by enemies will result in a temporary reduction in movement speed.
2. If you're in Sprint or is receiving a speed buff, you're still affected but to a lesser degree.
3. However, if a hero is performing a slide or jump action when taking damage, their speed won't be affected. This is because these movements are inertial and thus aren't impacted by the attack.
Now you can aim more accurately with less pressure in the battles. On the other hand, Jetslide and Jump will become more important for evading enemies and counterattacks.



HP and Hitbox Adjustments
Now, all characters have the same HP. Instead, we adjust balance based on the character's head and body size. For example, larger characters will receive additional damage reduction and immunity to slowing effects when hit.:
1. All heroes now have a unified base HP of 150 points. Shields of varying tiers now provide shield values of 25/50/75/100/125/150 points, respectively.
2. Optimized HITBOX for all heroes and balanced heroes with larger body sizes:
- Ducksyde gains a 15% damage reduction effect and is unaffected by slowdown effects.
- Captain gains a 10% damage reduction effect and is unaffected by slowdown effects.
- Other male heroes gain a 5% damage reduction effect.
3. Standardized movement speed calculation, with only the highest-value effect taking effect for the same type.

Jetslide
The Jetslide is also improved. Now it's even smoother and responsive. You can now cast skills while jetsliding. You can also crouch in mid-air to jetslide, which applies to both side and backward jump. The details are as follows:
1. Optimized Jetslide and falling performance.
2. Easier trigger for Jetslide while falling.
3. Easier trigger for Jetslide to the sides and backward.
4. Improved Jetslide experience on gentle slopes.
5. Optimized Jetslide cooldown and penalty mechanism for better control.
This means that whether you're on the ground or in the air, you can jetslide at any time, enhancing your mobility and ability to evade attacks.



Level-up Effects of All Heroes
1. Removed the automatic marking effect when aiming at enemies at level 1.
2. Enhanced Tactical Skill effects were granted to all heroes at levels 2, 3, 5, and 6, while enhanced Ultimate effects were given at levels 8 and 9.
3. Enhanced Weapon Mastery upgrade effects were provided to all heroes at levels 4, 7, and 10, resulting in heroes with higher Weapon Mastery levels dealing increased base damage with all weapons.

▌Weapon Updates

1. We have fine-tuned the handling of all weapons, particularly focusing on their recoil and rate of fire, especially when firing from the hip. This has resulted in increased bullet spread and a slight decrease in rate of fire, requiring more skills to accurately hit enemies.

2. Adjusted the installation rules of some mods based on weapon type and optimized the prompt rules for mod items.This requires players to select magazine types based on the weapon category. The details are as follows:
- Magazine Mods: adjusted to AR Mag, SMG Mag, and SNIPER Mag.
- Stock Mods: adjusted to Tactical Stock and Sniper Stock.
- Muzzle Mods: adjusted to Muzzle Break and SMG Muzzle Break.



3. Adjusted the magazine crosshair style of weapons: Added low ammo warning. Players can view low ammo warnings on the crosshair progress bar and HUD.
4. Optimized the muzzle flame effects of the 9A Corp and Piecemakers weapon series.

▌Map Updates

Sunder Realms

The new map, "Sunder Realms" has been out for a while now, and we're still optimizing it. We noticed that some strongholds did not have enough intense battles and mobility. Which is not what we want. So we made the following adjustments to the map:

1. Adjusted and optimized the tactical structure of some Strongholds:
a. Added cover groups suitable for small-scale tactical maneuvers.
b. Added more zipline points.
c. Added bounce pads that allow players to change their movement path with a double jump after activation.

2. Added various covers and overall adjusted the distribution of cover positions:
a. Added covers such as giant trees and rocks.
b. Increased the density of covers on the map to adapt to the combat pace after the addition of Jetslide.
c. Replaced some small trees with giant trees to provide covers more suitable for team operations.

3. Simplified the map display: We removed some text info, such as tasks/vehicle Switch/high-Value resource areas, and replaced them with more intuitive event prompts. You can now quickly understand what's happening on the map, and make decisions more timely.



4. Optimized the display of the minimap as well as some UI elements.
5. Optimized shallow water areas, allowing players to use Jetslide and skills normally.
4. Optimized some half-window structures.
5. Increased the visual distance of Loot Box.
6. Slightly increased the damage received outside the Safe Zone.
7. Added HD resources for the map Sunder Realms in extreme graphics.

Resource Adjustments
1. Significantly increased the number of Tactical Supply Chests and removed all other resource Supply Chests on the Sunder Realms map.
2. Added Advanced Tactical Supply Chests on the Sunder Realms map: Advanced Tactical Supply Chests have a higher chance of yielding advanced equipment, and players can obtain their respawn location information from the map.

3. The Revive System will have a new mechanism:
- Added a new environmental interaction item - the Revival Device:
1. The Revival Device can revive all fallen teammates, no matter where or when they died.
2. After the teammates are revived, the Revival Device will slowly disappear and it can't be used again.
3. Multiple Revival Devices will appear on the map, prompting players to their locations.



- According to the data of vanguard test server, we've realized that the new Revival Device has made revival methods too plentiful, resulting in overly intense combat. To maintain a balanced experience, we've decided to remove the Respawner item that players carried at the start of the game.

4. Reduced the quantity of Shield XP devices and increased the Shield XP obtainable from each device.

5. Character XP Output Adjustments
  • Added Character XP gains for players opening Tactical Supply Chests, Advanced Tactical Supply Chests, and Shield XP devices.
  • Added Character XP gains for players achieving kills, assists, and dealing damage.
  • Adjusted the XP required for character level-up.
  • The Character XP obtained from the map will be available in three qualities: Blue, Purple, and Gold. Higher-quality XP yields more XP points.
6. Added Extended Items:
  • Magazine Pouch: Increases ammo carrying capacity.
  • Medical Container: Increases Med Kits carrying capacity and application speed.
  • Shield Storage: Increases Shield Recharger and Shield Restorer carrying capacity and recharging speed.
  • These Extended Items come in different qualities; higher-quality items provide more carry capacity and additional attributes.
7. Added Helmets. Equip to gain a certain percentage of damage reduction against headshots.



Map Events
1. Sponsor Box
- Reduced the activation time of Sponsor Boxes and increased the Character XP gained per second during activation.
- Players have chances to obtain higher-level Extended Items and Helmets from Sponsor Boxes.

2. Added the map event - New Shield XP Device Deployment
When the game progresses to a certain point, the system will randomly deploy a large number of new Shield XP devices at various locations on the map, allowing players to obtain Shield XP and Character XP.

▌System Updates

Matchmaking Adjustments
1. High ping issues in certain regions will get better. You will get more local matches, depending on your region.
2. We also noticed there's some imbalance between 3 player and 4 player squad mode, only 20% of all players are now choosing 4 player squad mode while 80% is consistently opting for the 3 player squad mode. In order to shorten matchmaking times and gather more players, the four-player squad mode will be suspended.
3. Your historical rank of duo, trio and quad mode will be combined. The new season's rank will be based on the highest rank achieved.
4. Removed Team Deathmatch mode from ranked matches.

Suspending any game mode is a tough choice. We would love to keep as many game modes open as possible to offer more variety, but we need to balance matchmaking time. We know some of you may feel sad about it, but we wish this tough choice could bring an overall better matchmaking experience. In the future, 4-player squad may be offered in other non-ranked modes, like regular matches or time-limited modes. In these modes, you'll still be able to enjoy playing as a team of four.

New Lobby Interface
After the update, you will be greeted with a completely refreshed lobby interface! This new visual style is part of how we envision Farlight 84 to be--fresh and cutting-edge. You'll certainly see more of it in future updates.
1. In the lobby after this update, themed season content and player squad info will be more prominent.
2. New Tracker tasks will be easily accessible as well. Know your aim, find your drive.
3. A more stylish and streamlined matchmaking window. Real-time matchmaking status observation is now available.

1. Optimized running state retention effect.
a. Press for an easier running state retention.
b. The running state persists upon joystick release on a zipline.

a. Adjusted default button stroke for triggering running.
b. Added the feature of adjusting button stroke for triggering running in the custom interface.
c. Fixed the issue where continuous running could not be adjusted in the custom interface.
d. Optimized the left joystick control of character direction.

4. Optimized control sensation after using springboards, enhancing mid-air directional control.
5. Fixed numerous climbing and vaulting anomalies and failures.

▌Final Words

Farlight 84's version 2.2 update will officially be released on April 18th. This will be our anniversary update and contains tons of optimization. The new, longer, more rewarding Season system, the new Farlight Coins currency with more rewards, a brand new lobby design that's so cool, and new in-game mechanisms like Revival Device and Extended Items, and many more quality of life updates.

Hello! I've been working on "Hail to the Rainbow" for five years now. Crazy timing, especially for an indie. The process is intense and emotionally difficult. With each new game you try to invest more and more, pay attention to details, you want to make everything as perfect as possible, and this makes development time longer

I finally completed the base of the game, finished all the locations, mechanics and started polishing the project. In general, there is still a lot of work, but the finale is already visible ahead. Last week I played the entire project for the first time, from start to finish. Walkthrough took about 10 hours!

Also, the voice acting for the game was recently completed. For the first time in my project there will be English voice acting. In my practice, this is a big and difficult step, I hope, despite the nuances, it will be a pleasant addition for players :)

Despite this, the sales on Steam remain relatively acceptable and as a result, I will buy RTX 4090 next month! With RTX 4090 I can render in 4k and increase SubD level of the renders, from 1 to 5. The attached images depict the difference between rendering in 4K SubD level 5 and Full HD SubD level 1




As you can see in the images, the Full HD render with SubD level 1 tends to have pixelated graphics, which creates unnatural "notches" as shown in the part I've marked with a red circle. However, with 4K resolution and SubD level 5, the notches become natural and no longer pixelated. With my current GPU, rendering at 4K SubD 5 quality takes a very long time, which is why I need the RTX 4090. The money I earn from Steam will allow me to purchase RTX 4090 and many other things to improve the game. So, I kindly request that you don't forget to leave a positive review on Steam if you like the game, thanks 🙂

  • Stage 2: Wuwei Mansion Guard: Endlessness: Increases the duration of Overwhelming Power by 1 second.

II. Adjustments and Optimizations

1、Optimization of Legendary Attire Spring Jade
  • Enhanced particle effects for the Spring Jade's ring effect, making it more visually prominent on the battlefield.
  • Special effects were added to the chest armor component of Spring Jade when the hero was sprinting.
2、Unit Adjustments
  • Fixed the issue where some nodes in the Ironcap Scout Cavalry's training did not match the icons.
  • Fixed the issue where the last point of Halberdier Sergeants’ mastery was not affected by the Armor Penetration CD reduction doctrine.
  • Adjusted the descriptions of the two formations of the Modao Battalion.
  • Fixed the issue where Imperial Archers might gain the Sniper skill after interacting with a supply point without unlocking Constellations.
  • The Varangian Guards' abnormal attack animation was fixed when they activated Unbreakable while in formation.
  • Fixed the orientation error of Pavise Crossbowmen’s Doctrine II when performing Rapid Fire in formation.
3、Siege Adjustments
  • In matchmaking siege maps, all preset Divine Crow artillery will be replaced with other artillery such as the Cannon, Arrow Launcher, Ballista, etc.
  • Adjustments to the Allenburg siege map:

    • Adjusted the position of flags at points A and B.
    • Adjusted the position of supply points and added a supply area at point C.
    • Adjusted the building structure around the main base flag.
4、New Player Adjustments
  • Adjusted some experiences during the new player stage.
  • Optimized some UI guides during the new player process.
  • The units obtained during the new player period were optimized and replaced. The Pike Militia has replaced the Ironcap Archer.
  • The War Token event now starts at level 20.

III. Other Bug Fixes and Optimizations
  • Fixed abnormal NPCs in Haojing and Daicheng.
  • Fixed some abnormal text issues in weekly challenges.
  • Fixed some abnormal tasks in the return mission.
  • Fixed the issue where some new makeup couldn't equip certain tattoos.

Hello everyone !

After a few manipulations, the new setup is installed and the first test animations have been made. It works more or less as expected and that's good!



The first scenes have their images and we will soon move on to the second part (of three) in this episode, namely a new test. I won't tell you more but know that education will be at the heart of this test :)

The third part will be the one that I suppose many of you are waiting for: the party at Grace's!
This may take us a little time given the evening, the choices, the activities, the little free-roam etc... But we really hope that you will enjoy what we have planned!



Finally we will close the vote for Ruby's dress! Many of you voted and on our support sites like on Steam you agree on the dress that Ruby should wear. So this will be it!



Honestly it wouldn't have been our first choice, seeing Ruby as Girly... It's weird! But we're going to do it :)

Given the size of the event planned for Grace's party, we will probably stop episode 3 after the party as was originally planned. As a reminder, episode 3 was originally made up of the extended update of episode 2 + the day and the party. But to improve the end of episode 2 and have a more logical breakdown by 'day' of play, we preferred to spend this part in 2 and focus 3 on the day of the party.

We don't know exactly how much playing time Episode 3 will represent, this time some paths are well differentiated and certain scenes are only accessible according to your previous choices... So we're going to try to calibrate this like the others.

I will let you know when the second part and the test are done, we will then only have the evening to do. In the roadmap we planned to release episode 3 for June and for the moment we are on track. With hotfixes for Steam Deck, translation corrections, the extended update, we have made pretty good progress and we will try to continue this momentum by going faster on images and animations thanks to our purchases.
