Age of History 3 - Łukasz Jakowski Games
Greetings, rulers! Today's dev diary sheds light on two crucial pillars of your Civilization's success: The Council and your esteemed Advisors.

The Guiding Hand:
The Council serves as your inner circle, a group of trusted individuals offering counsel and shaping your Civilization's trajectory.
Led by the Ruler (King in monarchies, elected official in republics), the Council's composition reflects your government type. Ruler receives up to four random, small bonuses that can bolster your leadership.

Specialized Expertise
Beyond the Council's general wisdom, you can bolster your Civilization's strength by hiring specialized Advisors. Each advisor represents a critical domain:

Administrative Advisor
This seasoned bureaucrat offers bonuses to streamline your realm's operation. Expect reductions in province maintenance costs, administrative building construction, construction time, and even religious conversion costs.

Economic Advisor
With a keen eye for profit, this advisor unlocks benefits for your economic engine. You'll see lower costs for province investment and economic buildings, increased production efficiency, plus a reduction in core creation costs and more.

Innovation Advisor
This visionary thinker expedites your technological advancement. They might accelerate research or cement your civilization's legacy with unique bonuses.

Military Advisor
A seasoned strategist, this advisor provides tactical advantages to your armed forces. Expect bonuses for your generals (attack/defense), reduced army maintenance costs, higher siege effectiveness, or even an increase in your Civilization 's overall manpower and many more!

Investing in Greatness
Hiring advisors requires both gold and civilization legacy. These permanent acquisitions become invaluable assets, shaping your Civilization 's path.

Sharpening the Edge
But the story doesn't end there. As your civilization unlocks new legacies or technologies, you can further enhance your advisors' skills. By increasing their skill level, all existing bonuses receive a +50% boost.

A Symphony of Expertise
The Council and Advisors work in tandem. The Council provides a foundation of leadership, while advisors offer specialized expertise to truly propel your Civilization to greatness.

I eagerly await your feedback! Let me know your thoughts on the Council and Advisors, and how they might shape your strategies in the game.

🏃 Increased Sprint Frequency: You can now sprint more frequently while running, improving movement speed and reducing the time required to reach new areas.

Vectored Armada - Laps
VA is 14 days old. Welcome to 0.83

The updates to far have made quite a big improvement to VA overall. So with these improvements, additions and fixes I think it's time to up the version number.

= = =

Patch 190-192 released.
Build 20240414

- Added fancy explosions to Controls blowing up. Including a nice shockwave, and bright core flash.
- Added far reaching explosion sounds when Controls blow up, so you can hear the state of the battlefield.
- Significantly improved ship behavior when trying to avoid being surrounded, but also wanting to attack something. They now properly take an equidistant standoff position from both the target position, and threat average. Though it may not be perfectly reasonable all the time, it's much better.
- Ships are now aware of the Battle Arena Boundary, and will try to fly around the circle instead of bouncing into it. Overall, this helps Missile and Drone kiters when running away. Though they can still be a bit dumb at times.
- Ship slowdown behavior has been improved somewhat, so ships should be better at not overshooting where they want to go while still being able to chase things. Though this does still need refinement.
- Reckless AIs are now way more reckless. They don't worry about getting surrounded. But also a little less reckless, they aren't as cowboy about overshooting where they want to go.
- Removed the accidental battery capacity on Decouplers. Making them cheaper.

Artis Impact - Mas
Improvements on the demo gameplay and hotfix:

  1. Major game stability improvements. (To address game crashes before a battle.)
  2. Fixed random collision bug.
  3. Fullscreen mode enabled. (Remove restriction on over-scaling mode.)

Please also be reminded that you may not be able to load your current/old save files after the new update due to plugins incompatibility. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Enjoy playing!

American Truck Simulator - London
Known for its scenic beauty, clear lakes, and abundant wildlife, it's easy to see why Arkansas has earned the title of the "Natural State". In our upcoming Arkansas DLC for American Truck Simulator, our team has been hard at work re-creating the various trees, vegetation and more you'll come across on your travels. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

Did you know Arkansas has its own State tree? Designated in 1939, the Loblolly Pine can be found across a majority of the state, and continues to remain the most significant timber species. These trees can reach heights of up to 100ft, with its pines growing between 6 to 9 inches long, which is makes it the ideal species for lumber and pulpwood, in which Arkansas is the leading producer in the United States. When you see a pine in Arkansas, it’s probably a loblolly! You'll be sure to spot plenty of them on your travels.

Another tree you'll be sure to see is the Bald Cypress. Commonly found in swampy or wetland areas, they are well-suited to the diverse wetland ecosystems found throughout the state. Often found across the South-eastern United States, particularly in areas like the Mississippi River; Bald Cypress trees contribute to the scenic beauty of Arkansas with its unique shape and and iconic "knees" – woody projections that emerge from the roots.

However, not every plant or tree you'll find in Arkansas is native to its homeland. The Kudzu Vine is a fast-growing, invasive vine native to Asia which has found its way into the States in 1876, where it was touted as a great ornamental plant for its sweet-smelling blooms and sturdy vines. However, they forgot to mention the rapid growth rate of the vine, which is capable of growing up to a foot (30 cm) per day under ideal conditions. It climbs by twining around trees, poles, and other structures, often forming dense mats that can shade out native vegetation. In Arkansas it is commonly found along roadsides, in forest edges, and in undisturbed areas such as abandoned fields and vacant lots.

Another such example is the Silk Tree, an ornamental tree species native to Asia, particularly Iran, Korea, and Japan. Its elegant fern-like foliage, vibrant flowers, and overall graceful appearance make it a popular choice for landscaping and ornamental purposes. While the Silk Tree undoubtedly adds aesthetic value, its ability to spread its seed rapidly, means it often outcompetes native vegetation and disrupts local ecosystems.

These are just a small handful of the various new vegetation species you'll find in our upcoming DLC. Those who are familiar with different species of trees will spot the likes of the Smooth Sumac, Black Oak and many more. We urge you to look out for them and maybe a take a minute to learn about them when you have are taking a rest!

We hope you enjoyed this little insight into the vegetation side of things, and we look forward to highlighting the natural beauty of the state in the near future. Until then, be sure to add Arkansas to your Steam Wishlist and to follow us on Social Media (Twitter/Facebook/Instagram) for all the latest news.

  • Damage Capabilities: These weapons can inflict normal thermal damage and penetrate standard armor to cause radiation damage to vulnerable systems such as computers and crew.
  • Strategic Impact: While particle beams are not typically lethal to ships themselves, they can disable crucial onboard systems and result in the loss of crew and officers.
Introduction of New Alien Ship Classes:
  • New Enemies: Added three new classes of alien ships, tailored as their own versions of the escort, monitor, and cruiser.
Combat Targeting Mechanics Update:
  • ECM Modules: Enhanced to potentially impose a forced cooldown on any weapon that targets the ship equipped with the ECM.
  • Missile Defense Capability: ECM modules can still disable incoming missiles before impact, but this no longer applies to nuclear and antimatter missiles, which will detonate upon reaching their target.
  • New Module: Introduced a targeting computer module that allows ships to counteract enemy ECM effects.
  • Cooldown Duration: The length of the forced cooldown is determined by an internal success-failure roll.
Internal Ship Damage Mechanics Rework:
  • Damage Exit Dynamics: Adjusted so that under certain conditions, damage from kinetic, penetrator, or beam weapons with a small point of contact can exit a ship rather than being applied internally.
  • Weapon Immunity: Explosive warheads, nuclear weapons, and antimatter weapons are not affected by this change and will continue to deliver internal damage.
  • Increased Survivability: This modification aims to enhance ship survivability by preventing some forms of damage from affecting the ship's internal systems.
  • Expanded Role for Explosive Weapons: Provides a broader operational niche for explosive weaponry, emphasizing their effectiveness and distinct impact in combat scenarios.
Terrestrial Warfare Mechanics Rebalancing:
  • War Simulation Enhancements: Improved mechanics to more accurately simulate prolonged, attritional wars as well as rapid invasions against significantly weaker opponents.
  • Invasion Difficulty: Increased the difficulty and duration of invasions when targeting near-peer nations.
  • Occupation Dynamics: Extended the time required to occupy large and densely populated regions, reflecting the complexities involved in controlling such areas.
Priority Mechanics Rework:
  • Scaling Effects: Adjusted so that benefits impacting national statistics now scale with a country's population. Consequently, progress on goals like GDP growth or reducing inequality will occur more slowly in larger nations like China compared to smaller ones like Botswana.
  • Strategic Trade-offs for Meganations: Introduces more complex decision-making for larger nations, balancing their size with the agility needed to implement changes.
  • Enhanced Advisor Role: The 'Advise' councilor mission has been significantly enhanced to improve a nation’s economic performance more effectively while active. Deploying a high-administration councilor to manage capitals of large empires can help mitigate the challenges these meganations face under the new system.
New Weapons and Modules for Ships:
  • Enhanced Armaments: Introduction of several new weapons and modules, including the 40mm autocannon, siege coilguns, and a variety of high-performance missile systems.
  • Additional Ship Features: Added the flag bridge and the salvage bay to enhance strategic and recovery capabilities.
  • Alien Arsenal Expansion: The alien forces have also received new, potent weaponry for use in the late game, increasing the challenge and diversity of combat encounters.
Adjustments to Mission Control and Mining Relationships:
  • Habitat Core Costs: Small habitat cores now require more mission control (MC) resources, while larger habitats cost less.
  • Mining Module Changes: Mining modules no longer consume MC resources.
  • Mine Cap Adjustments: The cap on the number of mines you can operate without additional MC costs has shifted from a per-planet to a per-mine basis, allowing for more strategic flexibility.

To Our Community
Thanks to all our players who spent time trying out the build and helping us hunt down bugs and giving us feedback -- with an extra shout-out to the researchers, veterans, and generally well-read folk, as well as a particular nuclear engineer, for lending us their expertise and keeping many aspects of the game in the realm of plausibility. We’re ultimately a small team making a big game, and the support of our players during EA makes this a better game for everyone. We encourage everyone to join our Discord to take part in the feedback process.
Ongoing Development
And there’s more to do. No doubt there will be bugs to fix and things to balance in future 0.4 patches. We’re also working hard on new gameplay features and also the UI and AI improvements we know the game needs before we can take it out of EA. (We do shout ‘git gud’ at the AI every single day, but we think it’s ignoring us.)
