Hello Scribes! It's been an incredibly busy month for us as we get Vellum ready for release on March 28th!
We're taking a quick breather going into the weekend, but wanted to share three of the MANY new and exciting things that have recently made their way into Vellum!
What's more fun than writing with ink? Fighting with ink! Jot is a new primary ability, flinging condensed ink at enemies in a quick one-two punch!
While not as refined as coalescing ink into an anvil like Wordsmith or a seeking bird (a spell in our demo, now called Swoop), Jot more than packs the punch needed to take down the Torn!
Unlocking Power - The Scriptorium
There are other mysteries of ink - and as Scribes, it's your duty to research just how powerful your ink can be! Where else is a Scribe to do such scholarly work than The Scriptorium!
You'll return here after excursions into Tomes to increase your power, unlock new Signature Ink Colors, and decide which Inscriptions will suit your playstyle best!
Difficulty and Progression - Binding Attunement
As you delve into Tomes to defeat the evils within, you'll find and collect dangerous new Bindings. These add extra layers of difficulty, oddity, and rewards to Tomes! Increasing your Binding Attunement will grant you access to more Tomes and higher rewards!
The Next Chapter Approaches!
There's so much more to explore in Vellum, and we couldn't be more excited to enter the next chapter of developing this wonderful game! Already, Vellum has evolved immensely from the feedback of creative and passionate players - and we can't wait to continue that evolution in Early Access!
If you haven't already, wishlisting Vellum is a great way to support the game and get reminded of important updates - like Vellum launching Thursday, March 28th!
We'll see you soon in the Illuminated Library! - The Vellum Team

Hello everyone, through community feedback we are bringing some improvements, bug fixes and quality of life to the demo, including some balancing, we saw that the demo in general is very easy which may leave something to be desired for several players, for even though our intention is just to demonstrate aspects of the game, we still want players to feel some kind of challenge, so we are going to make the game a little more difficult, some of the main changes are: increase in the general speed of all enemies and quantity of enemies, more damage to the boss and less cooldown time for your skills and new indicator in the Crimson plant event buff (that's what we call it), visual indicator in skill improvements, new sounds, etc. You can see more about the changes below
list of changes:
Correcting artifact text that did not correctly display the current buff value
Changing bonus damage artifact description from "plus bonus damage +x%" to "plus total damage +x%"
Increasing speed of all enemies
Increasing amount of experience gained
Increasing the number of enemies
Adding Hell chicken monster to appear in the end times of the game
Decreasing the cooldown of the cursed tree boss's pine cone attack from 5 to 4.5
Increasing damage from all boss attacks
Crimson Plant Speed buff increased from 15% to 20%
Decreasing speed artifact buff from 0.3 to 0.15
Decreasing initial re-roll amount from 7 to 4
New visual indicator for skill upgrades with massive power boost
New visual indicator for skill upgrades that can evolve
Crimson Plant now releases visual effects on enemies when granting a buff
Crimson plant when fleeing now shows its way underground
Reducing time needed to revive in multiplayer
Now the configuration for showing life starts with: show with number
New sounds for: Level up, Artifact, boss attacks, events, breaking boxes and much more...
Please let us know what you think of these changes so we can improve the game even more. Thank you for your attention, LV99 Studios
