A brand new Fruitbus Demo is here!

From March 13th 2024 (that’s today!) you can enjoy brand new Fruitbus content. Truck customization is now in, we have a new serving system, new quests, improvements on cooking, brand new tutorials and a lot of other new stuff to discover. We've been beyond excited for you all to see these new improvements, and we hope you enjoy them!

The Demo is available right now! We hope you enjoy playing it!!!

One thing though, we did not have the time to localize this release. We're sorry, but rest assured that future Demos will be localized!

Zefyr: A Thief's Melody - Oneiric Worlds
Hello there,

Here’s the usual update of the last month(es). I mainly worked on NPC & marketing during January & February.


I – NPC (Non Playable Characters)

During the past weeks, I upgraded my old placeholders for the NPC (the characters you’ll have to interact with in the game). For each NPC, I need to work on:

  • Visual design: I usually start with doodles on my sketch book. I try to also get an idea of the basic color scheme.
  • 3D Modelisation: I tend to reuse old model parts if possible (hands for example)
  • Texturing: I paint the textures in Blender and/or Krita and map them on the character
  • Rigging (creating the skeleton): I almost always start from another skeleton that I copy and scale/adapt to the new character morphology. I might encounter difficulties for the clothes especially (be sure they dont collide with the limbs for example). Some designs are more exotic than others regarding this point, and it might be a difficult problem to solve.
  • Animation : I create at least one idle animation, and usually 1 or 2 more (speak, variations of movements, …)
  • Integration in the game: I have to put the NPC in the game, and be sure that evertything loads & links correctly
  • Coding the presence logic: depending on time and actions done by the player, the NPC are not at the same place at the same moment.
  • Coding the dialog logic: depending on your actions, the character won’t say the same things. They can also create new quests or complete some. They can add items to the inventory, change story key points, …
  • Dialog & names localization: for each line, I have to translate it in French and English.
  • Avatar: I have to paint a 2D version of the character that will show in the dialog UI.
  • Now that I have all my workflow and tools set up, it generally takes between a few days and two weeks of work for each character, depending on the complexity and originality. This doesn’t include the debug of course. I sometimes find problems much later.

So in the end, I added/polished 8 NPC. Here are a few screens:




There are still other ones to create of course, but it’s starting to be nice.


II – Marketing

Regarding the marketing:

  • I still work on reddit ads. They bring some regular visits to the Steam page.
  • I started to contact streamers (youtube/twitch) to market the demo. I had to update my presskit with recent screens & logos. I reached out to 50 people, but it only ended up with a few videos. However, they are really nice (like this one, or this one (in French) for example) and the streamers were happy with the game. I need to keep on working on this.
  • Finally, I keep on trying to enter festivals. I recently took part in the Ninja & Pirates festival on Steam, but it wasn’t that successful for me. I also applied to the Cozy Family, WASD Curios & the Mix. We’ll see what comes out of it.


III – Bug fixes

Not a lot to signal here. Mainly:

  • arrow collision fix (this was a tough one, I couldn’t replicate it on my PC, so a big thanks to “Les Indés Primés” channel for helping me)
  • now saves in turtle mode
  • a few textures fixes here and there

This allowed me update the demo on Steam.

And that’s it ! The game is improving little by little. As usual, thanks a lot for your support and patience.

Hey Everyone,

As we said in the last post, we're going to be adding 2 new maps over the next few weeks as we gear up for launch. This one is Ridgeview High, this is going to be a medium-difficulty map, the first one currently in Get Out, and will serve as the perfect follow-up to the factory map.

We also implemented some bug fixes/changes based on feedback.

Changes

Reduced the volume of the noises made by the entities

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where you could hear the noises made by entities through walls at full volume
  • Fixed a bug where the entities would only run to the sound of the bottle smashing after they'd roamed
  • Fixed a bug where the bottle sometimes wouldn't smash or would go through walls, confusing the entities
  • Fixed a bug where the bottle would sometimes still be on the floor as a whole bottle after "smashing"

Thank you again to everyone that helped find bugs and suggest features.

Today, during the maintenance, the following changes were made to the game:

🔹The Season of the Wasteland Hunter has started.
🔹The Furious Arena season has started.
🔹The PvP arena season has started.
🔹The season of Bottomless Dungeons has started.
🔹The Altar defense season has started.
🔹Changes in the arena:
- bonus rating points no longer require resources
- added a new bonus - strengthening ifrits
🔹A new settings option has been added - the number of simultaneously played sounds.
🔹Respawn points at Shiai Tok Castle have been moved to the castle area so that there is no transition between zones.
🔹The list of spells that activate the PvP mode (“flag”) has been expanded.
🔹Protection against client hacking has been improved to speed things up.

It's St Patrick's Day again! We've got the usual Mission and 3 tiered comps spread over the week and the Community Campaign. That's right, a rising tide lifts all ships so team up as a community to slay enough Pheasants. You'll see a bar for community prizes on the mission pop-up (use the banner in the launcher or on the website). Harvest at least 20 Pheasants to qualify, slaughter more to fill the bar and gain all your prizes. You do not need to play in multi or single-player, it's up to you how you do your slaying. Gender does not matter, but the state does; make sure they're well clear of the ground before shooting. Any airborne Pheasant harvested in the EHR will count.


Participate for the prizes, the trophies, and the glory! All hunters with enough Pheasants at the end of March 19th will win Community Prizes!


In order to take part in the event, you will have to click on the big banner you will find in the Launcher (or Website) home page:

The more Pheasants you harvest, the more in-game prizes you are rewarded. Remember, they need to be airborne. This is how the prize pool looks:


MISSION

This year's mission is called Fair Requests

Howdy Hunter! Without collectibles this year, the Fair Folk decided to get in on the mission with some requests of their own. They were rather hoping Sean would turn up again so they could have some fun with him, but they have agreed to settle for messing with you instead. Are we allowing this? Of course! Better you than us, especially since we have it on good authority that pretty much none of you leave out cream or even milk for them. That makes you fair game. The hobgoblins would like to add they will accept cookies as long as they have chocolate chips. The spriggans lean towards muffins, no raisins, please. Leave out Lucky Charms at your peril.



The mission will last through the event duration from the 13th March to the 19th March


Completing it will earn the hunter the following rewards:



COMPETITIONS

Pick up some extra gol- em$ with the competitions. No points in a co-op style event, but there are trophies and em$ up for grabs!

Each competition comes with 7 tiers based on your Hunter Score:



RULES

What would a game be without rules?

We have one simple rule for our events: No exploitation of existing game mechanics to gain an advantage. All winners' hunts will be checked by EW staff prior to prizes being rewarded, and the decision will be final.

In case of exploits usage, EW has a right to disqualify the player from this event.

SALES

And what would an Event be without sales? We're not sure, but we do know that we'd get nasty messages if we skipped them, so we've made sure to put sales in.
