Let’s discuss the status of the modding support today. The Editor has been in the works and we have shared versions of it with a closed group of a few selected modders for feedback. We are very fortunate to have this dedicated group of people eager to try experimental solutions and voice their opinions on them. Their feedback helps us understand how tools are used and how we can improve them. We have been surprised by the modders so many times in Cities in Motion and Cities: Skylines that we have stopped trying to guess what you might want to do or achieve. It’s much more helpful for us to just ask directly how to support those efforts instead.

Collaboration with the closed group has been going on behind the scenes for months now. Together, we have put a lot of effort towards the beta version of the modding tools, and we really can’t wait to share them with you! We believe modding is a pivotal part of the experience with a Cities: Skylines game and we want to encourage everyone to be as creative as possible.

As we’re preparing for the public release with support for Code Modding and the Map Editor, Paradox is running a broader Early Access for modders and creators chosen from the sign-up earlier this year. This gives creators the early opportunity to give the team direct feedback on using Paradox Mods, the new Modding Toolchain, and the Map Editor. We’re looking forward to seeing their feedback, and having the first Code Mods, Maps, and Savegames uploaded to the platform and ready for you on its release! This is all to support the quest of making sure we have a robust start when the tools are released, and this is a good opportunity to test Paradox Mods as well. We’ll be sharing more information on each part: Paradox Mods, Code Modding, and Map Editing later on so you’ll know what to expect.

I would like to emphasize again that there is still a lot of work still to be done: Asset editing is not in a shape or form to be used as-is. We’ll still need more time to make importing the assets work. The Region Packs teased at the end of last year are bundles of assets of varying sizes and content made by some of your favorite creators from the community. These assets rely on us finalizing the asset editor to a point where we are happy that the import pipeline and saving will be in a future-proof state. This is an ongoing effort, alongside improving the Code Modding and Map Editing based on the feedback we’ll receive from the Early Access and eventually from all of you. We have dedicated devs working on the modding support, eager to tackle bugs and implement improvements, so we’ll keep patching the tools throughout the public Beta phase until we have Modding 1.0 available. Naturally, the work will continue even past that as we receive more feedback and suggestions from you.

The creators and modders of Cities: Skylines brought so much cool and innovative content to the game, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with for Cities: Skylines II. There are already some exciting mods and beautiful maps out there (yes, we see you!) and it will be very exciting to see what you create with the added support!

It’s time for another ritual to summon new features, content, and bug fixes. First of all we’d like to thank the Godot community for finding a fix for the dreaded audio problems that users with low-latency interfaces experienced.

But besides that, we have also some new hexes on the table: Lord hexes, to be precise. You probably already have encountered one for the Lord of Pain in the Haunted Caverns. Now we’ve added one in each level for, one for each Lord. Happy hunting!

Please note, this patch will be released on the experimental branch first and will go live on Tuesday the 12th March 2024. If you wish to receive the patch early, please join the beta branch “Experimental”


Patch Notes
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to crashes whenever bullets or effects were duplicated.
  • Fixed a crash caused by the “Adaptation”-Trait of Spectral Fists when “Cunning Technique” was picked afterwards.
  • Fix: Spawn rate in Chambers of Dissonance would not increase with Agony.
  • Added custom key bindings for “Auto Aim” and “Pause” in the settings.

  • The Lords have reinforcements
Ability Upgrades
  • Arcane Rifts upgrade: added three new upgrades that change the element of the rifts. Only one upgrade can be chosen.
  • Added “Arcane Rifts Specialist”-Quest
  • Kugelblitz upgrade “Final Discharge” has been added. Kugelblitz finishes in a strong explosion.
  • “Kugelblitz Specialist”-Quest has been added.
  • Flamestrike can now be transformed into “Froststrike” with a new ability upgrade.
  • New quest “Flamestrike”-Specialist has been added.
Bug Fixes
  • Dragon’s Breath, Refined Flame: The value changes for Attack Speed and Burn Damage have been fixed.
  • Fix: Champions in Chambers of Dissonance could still get the “Fast Walker” modifier.
  • Fixed Trait: “Fusion” (Meteor Strikes) -> Rel. -> Abs. Crit Bonus
  • Fixed Trait: “Accuracy X” (Transfixion) -> Description
  • Fixed Trait: “Proficient Stance IV” (Sage) -> Damage Value
  • Fixed Trait: “Frost Affinity” -> Description
  • Fix: Warlock main attack -> Counts now as Summon for Multistrike & Attack Speed
  • Fixed Quest: Spirit Warrior Specialist -> no more tracking from other abilities
  • Fixed an issue that caused Base Attack Speed to affect attacks that are triggered by distance moved.
  • Fixed Sage description -> Movement Speed is actually 4.5m/s not 4.0m/s
  • Breakables will no longer add damage to the damage statistics.

Hello Hollows! 👋

Welcome back to the new devlog from the hollow lands. This month the developer discovered the entrance to the new floor- the Void so today we’d like to show you his discoveries! 🔍


1. New Enemy- Corrupted Totem 🗿
You guys got used to enemies with projectiles? Well, this one is different. Corrupted Totem uses the void to create an explosion right under your feet. Be careful and don't let them catch you off guard! This enemy can prove to be deadly in cooperation with other foes, forcing you to make moves you’d rather avoid! ☠️


2. New Enemy- Ethereal Bull 🐂
"Okay, it'll probably run towards me then stop... no, it didn't stop, maybe now? WHEN DOES IT STOP?!" - This one is tough. Ethereal Bull is a relentless being that will chase you until you're defeated. It requires some skill to avoid it during the chaos of the fight, especially when projectiles fly your way and the ground is about to explode under your feet! ⚠️


3. New Flood- The Void
New map with even harder, unpredictable enemies. Besides normal monsters, you’ll also have to face the creatures of the void- twisted by the vast emptiness who’re hostile to every intruder. We’ve only seen their glimpse and to give you an accurate report of their abilities and looks, more observation is needed. 📝


4. New Defeat Animation 😢
Some of you gave us the feedback that the defeat screen is not showing the correct info, so we updated it with a brand new look. It'll look even better when the UI update drops!
