I had been thinking about changing the name of my game for awhile now to something more fitting, something that sounded more prehistoric and dangerous. Something that was shorter and more to the point, something that felt more like it captured the essence of what the game is.
The name of the game has been changed to ... Primeval .

The Outlast Trials - Red Barrels Community Manager
Greetings Reagents
This week we launched out of Early Access and into The Outlast Trials' version 1.0! It was a huge milestone for our team over at Red Barrels and we took the time to go over some of the changes that were brought in since 1.0 and answer player questions in our latest Dev Q&A Broadcast on our YouTube channel! We look forward to doing more Dev Streams such as this one, and we may use them to tease some of the new features we are currently working on.
Thank you to all of our Early Access players, you all learned so much during the process and we were able to shape the Trials into what they are today with your invaluable feedback! With over 407k, Reborn and 29 million deaths, 13 million documents were collected, more than 200k teammates saved from bleed-out and the fact that you all spent more time in night vision than hiding, we want to thank you for being a part of this journey!

First off, welcome to all the new players that joined us! If you want to report a bug, give feedback, or some help or hints on solving some of the puzzles, head over to our Discord server! As for today's patch, we fixed that pesky tutorial dialogue bug! Took a few tries but we got it. Just a few more localization fixes, UI fixes, and potentially game breaking scenarios got patched up. Here are the full patch notes:
Bugs Fixed:
Certain parts of the second Tutorial quest dialogue was using outdated dialogue have now been updated and localized.
Reward phrasing now properly updates on all languages and when languages are changed.
Tooltips now display properly in all languages.
Animo are no longer able to be reset during the tutorial.
Quest bubbles now display properly over quest points and will properly track Animo completing a quest.
Quest Complete and Failed are now properly localized.
Language menu is now localized.
As always, thanks for playing Little Learning Machines 🤖🤖🤖
This update is also only accessible by switching to our Experimental branches (instructions on how to do so here) - although note they have slower load times and worse performance than normal builds due to the extra logging they contain!
We're hoping that this hotfix is a little more stable than the previous two, which both introduced serious new bugs (alongside fixing various issues). If testing suggests we've got on top of the stability issues then we'll release this onto the main Steam branch next week.
Bugfixes:
Fixed a loop in the pathing system that would cause the game to crash with an "out of memory" error in various situations.
Fixed soldier hair sometimes not appearing correctly in tactical missions.
Fixed a number of issues related to the shroud / fog of war, including it not revealing properly in some instances.
Fixed an issue where equipment on dead Xenonauts was not being recovered from alien bases (and the Cleaner HQ), even if you won the mission.
(Hopefully) fixed the bug where ground tiles around the UFO were sometimes revealed from the shroud on night missions, right from the very start of the mission.
Fixed another instance where players could sometimes not boot into the Main Menu.
Fixed an issue where players would be unable to zoom the Geoscape / Air Combat camera if they had a touchscreen peripheral plugged in.
Fixed a minor issue with the Abductor UFO hull hitbox in tactical missions, as it could sometimes block shots that did not appear anywhere near the UFO.
I'm excited to announce that the Operation Ascalon DLC Expansion, along with Patch 1.5, will be released on March 22nd for $9.99.
Prepare for seven new intense missions and a whole tier of powerful new parts, as well as game-enhancing features and content in the base game. This includes the ability to increase the maximum number of reds in the field and call in airstrikes.
More information about the release will be available in the coming days, so stay tuned!
