Here are the notes for Hotfix #32 which just went live on Steam and will be out shortly on our other platforms!

  • Fixed a crash which would happen when reaching the mid-event in the Warren 6-19 mission if the “Mostly ranged Enemies” Maelstrom modifier was active.
  • Fixed an issue where the crash reporter was assigning the wrong category to crashes.

In this blog we’ll be taking a look at a familiar helicopter silhouette with a distinctly British twist. Meet the Wessex HU.5, which will soon be coming to the game in the next War Thunder major update. This important domestic rotary-winged icon will soon reinforce the British helicopter tree!

Westland Helicopters began work on the Wessex in the late 1950s after the relative success of their previous American origin Dragonfly and Whirlwind licence built designs. Following the acquisition rights to produce the Sikorsky S58/H-34, a singular S58 was transferred to Britain as a development and template vehicle. By 1958, a domestically produced and redeveloped version powered by a Napier Gazelle turboshaft engine, rather than the piston engine of the Sikorsky design, designated the Wessex HAS.1 (Helicopter Anti-Submarine), would take to the skies for the first time. Entering service initially with the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force would later adopt the type too. In addition to this, the Royal Australian Navy and several other customers that Westland could sell too.

The HAS.3 would further enhance the systems on board the Wessex, followed by the HU.5 Commando variant. Primarily a troop transport and also utilised in the Search and Rescue role, the HU.5 employed a further improved power plant in the form of two Rolls-Royce Gnome engines. Serving all over the world from Cyprus, to the Indonesia–Malaysia conflict and the Falklands War, the Wessex was operated in utility, lift, transport and attack roles.

Retiring finally in the early 2000s, the Wessex was finally replaced in all major roles it maintained by the Westland Sea King which it had served alongside for many years.

Meet the Wessex HU.5!

The Wessex HU.5 is a British development of the already well known H-34 family. Domestically produced and improved, this modification is an attack variant of this famous helicopter that will provide a variety of ordinance options as well as a more powerful power plant. Let’s take a closer look!

While it might look visually quite similar to the H-34 that French and American pilots may be used too, the Wessex is quite a different beast under the hood! Powered by two Rolls-Royce Gnome engines, the Wessex has a significant power increase and performance over the Choctaw. The distinctive nose profile marks this helicopter’s main distinguishing feature compared to its piston engined counterpart. 




The Wessex also provides an expanded weapon arsenal over its counterparts, with both the AS.11 and AS.12 on offer. While these missiles can already be found on the Wasp, the Wessex can mount 2 of each at the same time. As well as this, you can take machine guns and unguided rockets to really maximise the flexibility that this helicopter offers. 

Interesting: The Westland Wessex served for 42 years in British service, one of the longest service lives of any British helicopter. It served in almost every major role, from Troop transport, Anti-Submarine warfare, Commando operations, Search and Rescue and even served as part of the “Queen's Flight”, carrying members of the Royal Family.

It’s the polar opposite of the small and nimble Scout and Wasp, being significantly larger and more of a chunkier target, but you do however get to take the best of both of those and combine a loadout of AS.11s and AS.12s at once. Keep your distance initially and use your AS.12s first to deal with any SPAAs or stronger threats, then move in closer to utilise those AS.11s. Whilst you should not rely on them, the Wessex also has machine guns which can be useful in some situations for light targets or self defence. Giving you a great all rounder helicopter platform for your ground lineups.”

Going Medieval - SeVerin
Greetings, medievalists! The newest patch (0.16.22) is now live on all platforms. Please save your progress and restart your game client to update. You should be able to load normally and continue playing. If you have any problems, please let us know.

Bugs and Fixes
  • Fixed several crash occurrences.
  • Fixed the issue where settlers were not able to use slopes/ramps/ladders to enter the water, but were able to use them for exit.
  • Fixed the issue where settlers were sometimes unable to fill the troughs with animal feed as the game automatically forbade said piles due to pathing issues.
  • Fixed the issue where animals were still stuck in water upon their caravan return.
Quality of life improvements
  • Fish should spawn near a coast during the map generation. This also means that there is a 70% chance for a newly spawned fish to appear next to a coast on the existing saves.
  • We’ve introduced temporary building ownership. Before, if the settler’s room or bed is too far and there is a bed closer to the settler, the settler would choose the closer bed. This resulted in settlers randomly losing ownership of beds. Now the settler will still choose a bed closer to them but the new bed will have a message that it is temporarily occupied. This can only happen if there are more beds than settlers on the map and a settler can only temporarily occupy a bed that was not assigned before. This fixes the issue where settlers would sometimes lose ownership of beds/rooms.
Present frustrating issues:
  • Some of you reported an issue where settlers don’t want to tend to other settlers in certain situations. This is very hard to reproduce on our side and loading your reports solves the issue (as reloading the save fixes the issue). It would be very helpful if you notice any particular details on how to trigger this issue - do they ignore all of the settlers that require tending, is self tending working, did anything special happen before this issue appeared? Maybe settlers hunted something, maybe something was allowed/forbidden? Any repro steps on how to trigger the bug is greatly appreciated.
  • It seems that the situation where you try to build a soil voxel and it crumbles upon completed construction still happens. As with the issue above, it’s close to impossible to reproduce this issue on our side. We’re working on a potential memory fix that may, in turn, solve this issue and some other stuff. In the meantime, if you encounter this bug, please provide as much info/context as possible. Quitting the game and starting the save will solve the issue.
Known issues:
  • Snow appears on roofs/stairs/slopes even past winter season. This is not that simple an issue to solve but we are aware of its annoyance.
  • Settlers will not choose the closest production building (if there are more of the same type), but the one that has a production set first in the global list of productions.
NOTE: Also, be sure to check this log for more potential misconceptions and common bug reports.

DISCLAIMER: The experimental and the main branch have the same version of the game. However, on the experimental branch, we decided to keep the Dev version of the game, and that means that a Dev log with red text will appear from time to time. This will help us get more info from your side when crashes and bug reports occur. If you are annoyed by this, please switch to the main branch to experience the game without the red text.

The TALES OF DESTRUCTION update is now out!

This update brings plenty of new content, so let me highlight the major features :)

A high score and rank system have been implemented on each map as well as an overall Story, rank and high score. Learn and earn the score multipliers to go from NOVICE to the rank LORD OF TOOLS.

TALES: A new game mode has come with its first level, Distribution Hub. Experience RETOOLED turn up to 11. :)

Weapon alt fire: Each weapon has received an alternative fire option. Expanding the way you wreck your enemies. With weapon alt fires, new weapon combos have appeared as well as a new crosshair system that will more efficiently display weapon information.

It has been a lot work getting this update ready for release, and I hope you all like it! The full patch notes are below.

As a final note, I just wanted to say thank you all taking a chance on RETOOLED and looking forward I am really excited about what is coming up next for RETOOLED. Update Master Of Destruction is now estimated for late Q3 or early Q4 2024.

NEW
- TALES (New game mode), level DISTRIBUTION HUB: SKY's call for destruction will not go unanswered.
- High score and Rank system. Wreck your enemies in style to achieve your best score and climb the ranks. Implemented on all maps as well as an overall story, rank and high score.
- Alt fire for each weapon. Designed complement your arsenal and giving you more options to dispose of your foes.
-- See the help menu for more info on each weapon alt fire and tips for weapon combinations.
- The golden tool, each story map now contains a hidden "golden tool". Picking it up gives a temporary highscore multiplier.
- Multiple levels have gotten minor changes, mainly layout and lightning updates.
- The help menu now has new entries detailing how the high score system functions, score events and multipliers.
- 7 new achievements.

HUD UPDATE
- New crosshair system that allows for greater information display within each weapon's crosshair as well as new animations.
- High score display widget added, togglable and scalable. Off by default.
-- Weapon state display close to crosshair, togglable with an opacity setting.

CHANGES
- Weapon switching and firing code has been overhauled. This fixed a logic bug that could delay the first shot fired after switching weapons in some cases. The overall weapon switching is now faster.
- AI Utility and Omni bots have received shield changes. Instead of reducing incoming damage they now have a separate shield pool.
- Multiple enemies have now been marked as "High Value Targets" throughout the levels. Destroy them to get a temporary highscore multiplier. (High score display widget needs to be enabled)
- Player robot has received a texture update.
- Distribution hub's level challenges count towards progression unlocks.
- Change default keybindings for zoom, melee and added a new one for weapon alt fire.

OPTIMIZATIONS
- Several VFX impacts have been optimized.

BUG FIXES
- Awakening Boosted jump tutorial will now close if you skip skill check area.
