Striving for Light - Deventide
Along all the new features we have already announced and showcased in our Eclipse content update patch notes preview there has been a feature that we felt needed some more attention and would bloat the patch notes, so we felt it would make most sense to give this new feature it's own news post.

If you have missed our Eclipse Content Update announcement you can find out more about the update at this post:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1646790/view/4034731337929043009

Interaction icons for skills, weapons, trinkets and character tooltips:
Given the complexity and deepness of interaction the SfL skill system offers there has been urgent wishes by the community to streamline and improve the tooltips for a simplified and better way of understanding those skill/weapon/character/trinket interactions.
As many tooltips are already rivaling the length of a one-page essay we decided to add a tag based cross reference system to all tooltips. Since the tooltips are already mainly text based we decided to add icons for all the differend damage scaling sources as well as for the AoE size modifier. This will allow you to directly grasp on how to scaling and interactions work. The icons have been designed to match with the corresponding skill node design that grants this damage source, i.e. the scaling with melee damage icon is looking equal to the one you find on the Increased Melee Damage skill node.

So lets take a look at some examples on how these new tooltips will look like:

Weapons

The new tag system will not only take into account the triggered weapon effects but also the additionally embedded legendary skills and display all possible damage scaling options.

Trinkets

Skills

Characters

This only marks the start of our journey to revise and improve fundamental systems as we move closer to the 1.0 release. We will closely continue to listen to your feedback, so please continue sharing your thoughts about these new features!

Unforetold: Witchstone - PatBrutal

Hello Adventurers!

It’s still hard to believe that after working so many years on Unforetold: Witchstone, the game is finally out on Early Access. It’s been a crazy and difficult but fulfilling journey building this sandbox version of a cRPG from scratch. But our work isn’t done yet and we’ve barely scratched the surface of this playground called Kalsundia. As one of the ways to show our gratitude to all the players supporting Unforetold: Witchstone at the very beginning of its Early Access, we’ve been tirelessly working on hotfix updates for the past few weeks.

We’d like to use this opportunity to once again thank everyone who has either bought the game, sent us feedback, reported a bug, talked to us about their experience, made content about the game, wishlisted it, or simply sent words of encouragement. This support means the world to us and helps us get through the more difficult times.

The Big Update
Since the launch of the Unforetold: Witchstone, our team has been scanning our Discord server, the Steam forums, live streams, YouTube videos, and reviews looking for critical areas of improvement. Your comments help us prioritize what features and bug fixes need to be tackled next. As such, we’re very happy to release the fifth and biggest update to date for Unforetold: Witchstone, which Malik and Phil previewed on a Twitch live stream last Friday.

Travel Events
The untamed frontier world of Kalsundia is dangerous. Now you’ll encounter people, friendly or hostile, or beasts on your travels between townships and dungeons. These encounters are sometimes the consequence of actions you committed earlier and progress your story forward.

Inventory Sorting Options
Hoarders and non-hoarders, rejoice! Players can now sort their inventories in 3 ways:
  • By sund: from highest value to lowest
  • By weight: from heaviest to lightest
  • By type: in alphabetical order, in the following categories
    - Weapons
    - Helmets
    - Chest pieces
    - Gloves
    - Boots
    - Capes
    - Accessories
    - Consumables
    - All other items

Companion Orders Presentation
We noticed on streams and were told by players that they would be ordering a companion without noticing. To address this, we gave ordering a companion a similar presentation outside of combat to when ordering companions in combat. So when clicking on a companion portrait, you’ll notice:
  • The player hotbar cannot be interacted with
  • Slow-motion starts
  • The order range circle is now more noticeable

Appreciation from Fulfilling Wants, Not Completing OpportunitiesTo reinforce the sandbox experience of the game, appreciation gains of an NPC now trigger from fulfilling their wants. This means that a player is no longer obligated to learn about opportunities and complete them in order for someone to become friendly or allied to them. For example, if someone wanted monsters eliminated from a place and a player did the deed without speaking to them first, the player will still be better appreciated and even rewarded for their actions.

Optimized Save Files
We’re very happy to say that the time it takes to save a game has been greatly reduced (down to 1 second or less in most setups). The file size of each saved game is also no longer 400 mb, but a way more reasonable less than 50mb.

And More!
To learn more about everything in this update, including bug fixes, please check out the patch notes # 5.

Previous Updates
As was mentioned earlier, this is the fifth update since January 25th. In previous updates, we’ve addressed many very good points brought up by the community, including:
  • Adding Armor and stat bonuses to certain odd wearable items
  • Adding subtitles to the opening video
  • Making item rarity easier to tell by adjusting the vibrancy of the colored icon outlines
  • Adding area names to opportunities dialogues and descriptions to make finding characters and items easier
  • Providing extra dialogue options during the event on the way to Howling Valley so players are not forced to make a decision this early on what they intend to do with Kalsundia

Also, we quickly jumped on issues reported on launch day:
  • Fixed key binding changes not saving after pressing Apply
  • Fixed the Goals page in the Journal displaying overlapping text when opened from notifications and dialogue
  • Moving a guard position at Howling Valley Warehouse so the player doesn’t need to trespass to talk to them

In case you missed it, here are the links to the patch notes of the previous hotfix.

More To Come
In the upcoming weeks, we will continue to listen to your feedback and periodically release updates for Unforetold: Witchstone. We’ve got some really cool stuff in the works!

Thank you once again for your unwavering support and patience. Stay tuned for more patches, keep sending us your feedback, and let’s make this a great game together!

You must find the QR code object on the map, then scan this image in the game to reveal: "Ademy". It will help you fight in the game afterwards. There are several QR code objects on the map, some are harder to find than others. The QR code scanner does not work in multiplayer.
A QR code can only be activated once per load. I will give the other QR codes later. Other QR codes could potentially be created later.
Pinball M - linne_zen
The first update of Pinball M brings a brand new table and several fixes, almost as many as the bodies you have piled up while playing the tables. Big day, big jackpots!

New table

System Shock Pinball - Flip to the death in the depths of space. Guide the Hacker and defeat SHODAN.

General changes

- The maximum player profile level has been increased from level 100 to 110.
- Adjusted the appearance of the floating scores on all tables.

General fixes

- The Rite of Passage achievement can once again be earned.
- The mini leaderboard for arcade mode will be visible now in the table play corners.
- After playing a daily challenge game, the post-game result screen and daily challenge screen in the main menu will correctly show the player's global daily rank on the vertical line, instead of the rank for the specific challenge played.
- In case a score for a tournament cannot be uploaded to the leaderboard at the post-game result screen due to connection issues, the game will reattempt uploading it each time it is launched, as it does for other game modes.
- In the tournament list and tournament table play corners Dread Challenge games will correctly show their type as Dread Challenge, instead of Survival Challenge.
- In tournament games with unlimited play attempts, the restart game option in the pause menu will now work correctly. The restart option is still disabled for tournaments with limited play attempts, to prevent accidentally wasted attempts.
- The sound notification for the last 5 seconds of game time in Shiver Challenges won't play constantly when the game mode is played without a time limit.
- When inspecting a player's profile, the table awards and powerup levels will correctly show what the given player has achieved.
- In the profile stats, the number of spotlighted tournaments created will be correctly tracked from now on.
- The options menu will correctly reopen after backing from the Personal Data menu.
- On the post-game result screen for tournaments, the spotlight progress bar won't go above 100%.
- Various minor onboarding fixes
- Activating the cabinet mode multiple times in a game session won't result in lower and lower frame rate at each activation anymore. Please note however, that using cabinet mode may still reduce frame rate by about 10-15%, depending on the exact hardware configuration and video settings, which is due to the additional viewports the game has to utilize.
- In cabinet mode, the LCD display for Duke Nukem's Big Shot Pinball is now correctly aligned vertically.
- The upscaler mode in the advanced graphics settings now has its options listed in ascending order and shows none when no upscaler method is selected.
- The progress for the current level of the Endless Tournament mastery won't reset when the player doesn't play Daily Challenges for a day.
- The voiceover associated with new community feed entries won't play when playing on a table. If the community feed finishes updating during gameplay, instead the voiceover will be delayed until the player exits to the main menu.
- The shield time in Survival Challenges won't expire earlier, based on how much time the player has waited before launching the ball.

Table fixes

Wrath of the Elder Gods Director's Cut

- The Madness score multiplier will correctly reset when a mode is won with a ballout.
- The skillshot score and timer will correctly reset after the 5th skillshot, as stated in the table guide.
- Fixed an issue that resulted in 2 balls remaining in play, when the Maw multiball and Herald of its Word modes finished almost at the same time.
- During the wizard mode, the Herald cannot be beaten by one shot to its back.
- Fixed an issue that could result in the Herald keeping one ball indefinitely during multiball modes, when the Herald of its Word mode was also active.

Dead by Daylight Pinball

- The volume of the "Sinkhole open!" voiceover has been reduced slightly.
- The "Sinkhole open!" voiceover won't play if the sinkhole is already open.
- The end-of-ball bonus multiplier will now be correctly applied.
- As a Survivor, after the second round of generator search hurry-up has finished, the lane of the previously repaired generators won't be blinking as if they can be repaired again.
- As a Killer, after a ballout, the blinking lights at lanes and ramps will still correctly show if the given target has been shot once already.
- As a Killer, after a ballout during a survivor chase or hook phase, the trap will always reappear correctly.

Chucky's Killer Pinball
- Fixed a crash that could occur at the end of the Olly Olly Oxen Free mode.
- When the marble jar is hit with the razor flipper, the razor flipper will now correctly remain active during the Marbles multiball mode.
- The ball cannot fall inside the slingshots anymore in some rare cases.

The Thing Pinball

- When the Man's Best Friend mode ends with a tentacle droptarget remaining and the table is restarted, the collision of the last tentacle won't remain active, preventing one of the lanes from being shot.
- The Who Goes There? mode being lost won't cause one of the Wizard mode target lanes to be inactive, preventing the Wizard mode from being completed.
- The next Husky target should always correctly appear now during the Lockdown mode.
- Finishing the Fire Frenzy mode with a ballout or by the game ending won't result in the mode being won.
- When multiple extra balls are unlocked, each shot to the sinkhole will award them correctly.
- The table's display will always show the correct award when the random award is collected.
- When the random award sinkhole is active, the lights of the BOOZE rollovers won't turn off after a ballout.
- Tilting the table is now possible in Dread Challenges as well.
- After tilting, the table won't remain in a tilted state with the following balls in these game modes either: Distance Challenge, Rescue Challenge, Survival Challenge

Duke Nukem's Big Shot Pinball

- The ball physics at the skillshot has been adjusted, to make the ball's speed frame rate independent, as it is shot from the lift.
- Reduced the chance for straight down the middle ballouts when hitting the targets for the We're Gonna Fry Your Ass mode.
- Trying to start the Cinema mode while the two sides of the bridge are already raised for the Ready For Action multiball lock won't cause the table to lock up.
- The end-of-ball multiplier won't be kept after a tilt.
- After continuing a previously saved game, the displays showing the two dancers won't appear in an incorrect orientation.
- Duke won't sit back down during gameplay when the table intro is skipped very quickly.
- The extra ball that is earned for 2 minutes of multiball and a following super jackpot will now be earned as soon as the super jackpot has been hit, instead of at the end of the multiball mode. The table guide has also been updated to include the super jackpot requirement for this extra ball.
- Duke won't change between incorrect animations, when the Ready for Action multiball's super jackpot and the Eat Shit and Die! mode's targets are shot after each other.

Forever Skies - FFH_Greg
Greetings scientists!

We have quite a few bits of news to share with you today, so buckle up!

1. EARLY ACCESS PLANNED TO COMPLETE IN 2024

Today we announced that our team is on-track to release the full version of Forever Skies in late 2024.

We don’t have an exact day and month for you yet because we ourselves will only know that closer to the end of development. We also need to see how the work and feedback on our next big updates go. But rest assured, once we know and feel the date works for our team we will announce it.

And yes, co-op is still planned to be added before the release of the final version. Our work there is progressing well but we are still adamant that it will be released once we feel it is ready.

2. WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH SONY

Our next big news is that we have partnered with Sony! We have actually been quietly working with them for a few years but today we can make it official.

With their help we have been able to focus on making Forever Skies the best it can be for its console debut. So, at the end of PC Early Access when we're ready to release the full game, we'll be launching it exclusively on PlayStation 5 for consoles and Steam on the same day.

We released a new trailer and got a cool story on PS Blog about the inspiration behind the game. You can check out both here:

3. 20% SALE + RIFTBREAKER BUNDLE

Along with the news and new patch (see the bulk below) we’ve got a 20% sale on Steam right now. We also have our ongoing bundle with The Riftbreaker live still.

The Riftbreaker is what would happen if Diablo and Starcraft had a baby. Mechs, base-building, survival, and hack-and-slash combat all in one. You are an elite scientist/commando inside an advanced Mecha-Suit sent to terraform a hostile alien planet. Hack & slash swarms of enemies, build up your base, collect samples, and research new inventions to survive.

If you already own Forever Skies you can use the bundle to get an additional 15% off from The Riftbreaker

4. NEW QUALITY OF LIFE PATCH IS LIVE!

The Quality-Of-Life patch - EA.1.4.2 ha arrived and includes QOL improvements, bug fixes and gives much-needed love to the forgotten tool of Forever Skies, The Flashlight!

New(ish) Item: The Flashlight

Finally, after 7 months in Early Access all players will know that they can use a Flashlight in game!

The blueprint for this tool can be acquired early on after visiting your first Radio Tower and collecting some Electrical Parts. This will prompt the blueprint to unlock, at which point the player can research it.

Players don’t need to worry about another item taking up valuable inventory space as The Flashlight gets its own dedicated slot, in the same way as your Oxygen Tank. It now runs on batteries and will need to be charged like most tools.

QOL Improvement: Airship Base Adjustments

If you’re replacing any normal wall module with a Door, then any attachments you had on the wall will simply drop into your inventory, unless you’re inventory is full. And with Patch 1.4.2, that just got easier too!

QOL Improvement: Inventory Management

Your inventory, storage boxes, and freezers have had a couple of new functions added to make moving items around easier than ever.

Store All - This will remove all items currently in your inventory and move them into the storage box/freezer that you’re interacting with.

Take All - This will move all items in that Storage Box or Freezer into your Inventory.

Sort - This one is self-explanatory, it will sort all of your items so slots are more organized and will group stacks of the same item together.

Store Similar - This function is useful when you have a Storage Box for a specific resource. It will remove the item or resource out of your inventory that matches the item or resource that’s already in the Storage Box, meaning you don’t have to comb through your inventory to find that stack of Machine Parts you want to store. It can be done at the click of a button once you interact with your Machine Parts Storage Box.
