In our last post, we delved into the fleet building mechanics of Republic of Pirates, a crucial aspect of which being the recruitment and management of captains. Well, today we’ll be elaborating on these systems further! Discover why captains are so important, learn more about the Captain’s Inn building, how to choose and assign your captains, and more.

Your ships can’t navigate the archipelago without a trustworthy captain at the helm, and your fleet won’t grow unless you have enough captains waiting in the wings to lead a new crew. In gameplay terms, this means that the total number of captains you can recruit at any one time will determine the number of ships you can field in your fleet. Captains can also learn unique passive abilities that will allow them to develop interesting combat strategies and fleet compositions.


To maximise the effectiveness of your fleet and successfully expand your pirate utopia, you’ll therefore need to recruit a wide variety of captains, pair them up with their ideal ship classes, and deploy them in the most advantageous conditions.




Unlock the Shipbuilding category in the construction toolbar and look out for Captain’s meeting places scattered across your conquered islands. These ruins hark back to the glory days of the former Republic of Pirates, and are the only places where you can build a new Captain’s Inn. It's always worth scouting ahead to see which islands look interesting when planning your expansion, make sure to pay attention to rare resources and sites such as these!


Once constructed, interact with the Captain’s Inn to find a selection of four random captains to recruit.


With four captains staying at the inn at a time you’ll need to decide which is the most suitable for your needs and budget. Each captain will have a hiring fee which will differ based on their starting level as well as three level milestones and associated skills.


Captains will hit their milestones at levels 20, 30, and 40 with each milestone unlocking a permanent skill or passive buff. These skills can include a random chance to fire twice or increased performance when leading or attacking certain ship classes.


Ready to set sail? After you have hired your pirate captain, head to the shipyard and start building a new vessel. As the final step of shipbuilding, you’ll be prompted to assign an available captain to command your newly constructed ship, simple as!



Your captains will gain experience and expertise at sea and level up automatically in naval combat. This means that the higher their initial level, the faster they will reach their skill milestones at levels 20, 30, and 40.



Captain Sophia Delgado, for example, upon reaching level 20, will be rewarded with increased performance when leading a cog, ketch, or barque. At level 30, she’ll get a bonus for attacking rival ships of the same classes while her final skill will increase her performance when attacking any ship class.



Ultimately you’ll need to think ahead as to how you want to build out your fleet and what you’ll be using it for! Is there a particular target you have in mind, or do you need a reliable local force to defend your shores?

There are several festivities in Nanraas that have similar customs and traditions. All of them are celebrated in Naaikos (spring), for it’s hard to find a more romantic time than the season of the awakening of nature and the first warm rays of Eorin that touch the hearts of every living creature around. The first holiday is called Tio’Rish – the great festivity of family and family life. This festival is usually celebrated by those who have already tied the knot and spent at least one chio’tai in peace and harmony. “Love not only your partner, but your family as a whole” – that’s what wise om’veri say about this holiday. There’s no place for selfishness and egoism in this day – even the most dedicated workaholics take a brake and spend time with their loved ones, children, and the closest relatives. Moreover, all the enterprises and even government institutions give their employees an official holiday.

Parents take their hatchlings and teenlings to amusement parks, camping sites, flight stations and sandy beaches to have as much fun as they can. Also, some special events such as concerts, fire shows, figure flights are held by local authorities and members of different families-oriented organizations. However, single om’veri without families and any intentions to have one in future are allowed to work during Tio’Rish. People call them “Sol’ma’verai” – “lonely souls”. These individuals idolize their careers and put their jobs above all. Sandy, most of them are destined to spend the rest of their lives alone, without any hope to find a partner and start a family.




The second grand holiday is called Tar’Tarish – the festivity of love and friendship. All those who are in love or active seeking a partner prepare small gifts for their loved ones. This holiday is similar to the Saint Valentine’s Day in many ways and its patron is the Aegis of Love – Lan’kir. Despite not being a part of the Great Triumvirate of the Aegises, Lan’kir is worshiped by many young om’veri as the goddess of love, fertility, and family happiness. Tar’Tarish is the ideal day for a declaration of love, love confession and even marriage proposal. The most appreciated gift in this day is the special kind of candy that is made in the shape of egg and filled with a tasty liquor. But remember: such a candy can be given to person with whom you’re good friends or lovers. Otherwise, egg-shaped candy can be considered as mocking, gesture of disrespect and even sign of hostility and bulling. However, the color of such a candy has a very special mean. Thus, white color means friendship, red color is the sign of deep love and appreciation, but black color means that your partner is willing to break up with you.



Will Azaries find her true love during her adventures? Well, it’s all up to you! Our game features several possible romance options and each of them leads whether to a happy-ever-after ending or a total disaster, depending on Azaries’ choices, preferences, and participation in special events. Each character Azaries can enter relationship with has a sequence of special events and personal quests. Also, Azaries’ moral paradigm and attitude towards some particular character impacts her possible romance options. For example, some characters appreciate sentiments and zeal for justice, as well as a number of good deeds done in each city, while the others prefer cold-bloodedness, calculative nature and intentions to gain as much power and wealth as possible. Just remember: pay attention to your party mates and newly encountered characters. They always have something to share with you!

Another amazing feature of our game is the possibility to help some of your party mates to find love and happiness or turn their lives into the disaster. Each character that joins Azaries and her team is a personality with their own stories, desires, intentions and plans for future. From time to time, they will be interacting with each other and Azaries can help them get along well or stimulate the flames of their mutual hatred – everything is up to the player! Each decision made and each dialog option selected brings certain advantages and disadvantages – and always being “a knight in shining armor” is not always the best option.

Today, we'll take a first look at Erannorth Renaissance. Erannorth Renaissance is a Choose Your Own Adventure game with combat and exploration taking place on a hex grid. Aside from being a story-rich experience, it also offers a sandbox environment where you can pursue your own agendas and explore its vast world.

This is a very early alpha build of the game (version 0.4.43), and there's still much work ahead. Many elements, such as art and items, are currently placeholders. Therefore, everything we're going to see today may change by the time you get the game in your hands later this year. However, it will provide you with a good idea of what the game is about.

Please note that the video contains minor spoilers from the beginning of the story. While these are details you'll likely discover early on, they are spoilers nonetheless.

I want to thank you all for trying the Frogun Encore demo this Steam Next Fest. I hope you had fun!



I've been following the various feedback very closely, and it even helped hunt down a couple issues to improve the game. I've tweaked camera angles, fixed a couple of bugs and tightened a few spots in the levels the demo featured. I have to thank you all again for the chance to do this.

I want to bring some extra news, too! The game will also be appearing in the Remote Play Together fest as well! The whole game will be possible to play with a friend, so feel free to tag along and race each other to the finish line of each level, or whack the bosses with teamwork. 🐸🐍
