Today, on the occasion of Steam Next Fest, we present the patch note 0.1.19 for Appearances.

We've worked on several things, including: a voice cast for Suzy, optimization to ensure better stability, new content, and more!

Paint by Cubes - Last Qubit
Steam Next Fest is live!

We're taking part in this month's edition of Steam Next Fest with our updated demo of Paint by Cubes! For this occasion we've updated our demo build with a new set of levels focused around a new chain painting mechanic.

Final preparations for our game's release

As we're getting closer to our game's full release, we're working on final updates and setting up the remaining levels for our final game setup!

Train Valley World - Vauban


Hello there @everyone !

We're currently deploying an update for our demo that:
  • Fixes low FPS and game crashing
  • Adds new railway track building system
  • Updates train pathfinding - now with 100% less manual restarts!
  • Introduces a macOS version, Save/Load buttons in the Pause menu, adjustable camera zoom sensitivity setting, new supply and demand hinting system
  • Contains more improvements and addresses the bugs

Sinners Landing - JohnnyLee[FM]
Description

Tristan Lamprey is a rogue, a cheat, an aspiring artist, and a failed magical apprentice... And he’s on the run from the dread Archmage Xargoth! The Archmage has vowed to hunt him down and punish him for deflowering his beautiful daughter, Princess Sumita. Luckily for Tristan, he has been magically teleported to the hinterlands of the kingdom: the tiny riverside mining village of Sinners Landing. There he's determined to make a new life for himself, ingratiate himself with the locals, and have a really, really good time.




Development

Flexible Media started the development of Sinners Landing in 2023. Hints and teasers of the game have been shared to the Paradise Lust community on Discord during early development, and an alpha version of the game is currently available to Flexible Media supporters on Patreons and Subscribestar. The team is updating this build near-monthly, much as they did with Paradise Lust.



Gameplay

Sinners Landing is a humorous and sexy 2D Card-Battler/RPG adventure. Playing as Tristan, a rogue magician's apprentice, the player romances the beautiful girls of the village, builds skills and abilities, and uses them to fight through a roguelike-style dungeon using a card-battling mechanic. Each crawl into the dungeon is different, with an ever-expanding world of choices, monsters, and combats.

Mage Rivals

The next major feature we are adding is the ability to fight mages, starting with rival mages. James and Tyler are working on this.

Zach and Nolan are working on better NPC reactions and greetings. Tech we developed and will use in the dynamic quest system on the way.

Update #3 Exploration



Last week I gave a rundown of this update’s features. Mark, Michel, Thomas, Jessi, Josh, and Phil are working on it.

Today I’d like to focus in on one of the big features: a new User Interface (UI).

As we build the game we get a better sense of how it should play, mainly from your feedback. We’re taking that knowledge to the interface.

HUD

Here is a WIP mockup of what we are thinking for the HUD.



  • Bottom left is your character portrait with gold and legacy score

    • Yes, you can customize the look of your char.
    • No, you can’t have more than 1 billion gold. 😆
  • Center is the spell schools, which will contextually hide/expand to show spells you know for the current situation (world/combat), as well as primary buttons like character sheet, relationships, quest log, inventory, etc.

  • Top left are buffs/debuffs affecting you

  • Middle right are notifications for events, like if an NPC sent you a letter and/or gift, or warning of some upcoming event like an NPC birthday. You know, game notifications!

QUEST SCREEN



We looked at a lot of game quest screens and generally like this layout. Showing a history of discussion from the quest is an important feature raised by players.

Priority Bug Fixes

We put out weekly patches. As I write this, we’re investigating a “black screen after combat” soft lock issue reported over the weekend. This is serious and if we can resolve it quickly, we’ll hotfix it.
