Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our January Devlog! Before we delve into the updates, we'd like to invite you to join our Discord! We have a vibrant community and we are always sharing new teasers there! ❤️

🎮 Development 🎮

In this month's hero teaser, we'll be showcasing the dwarf Orbryn, an Engineer from Garmorli! 🪨

- As mentioned on our previous devlog, we did a total of 160 active artifacts. This month, our focus has been on refining these artifacts by writing their descriptions, recording in-game GIFs, and conducting extensive balancing and internal testing. We have also modified them to use charges instead of cooldowns, with a limited number of charges per mission, boss fight and PvP (explanation below).

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
🧙‍♂️Dev Note: We think cooldowns are less effective because, if you want to optimize, you would need to use everything once the cooldown is up. This approach is not ideal for situational artifacts like shields or things that require strategic timing. So, with charges, you can control the best time to use them, and we can achieve more balance overall in all content. The artifacts still have a bit of a cooldown, but it's only 5-10 seconds.
- The Level Design team has finished the maps of the two biggest cities, Kasteron and Ereluna, for the open world. They have also remained dedicated to the ongoing revamp and review of older missions.

New version of the Ereluna Throne Room 🍃

- For the environment, we focused on the 'Demonic Cult Tower' sprites. You saw it in our last devlog, but this time we are working on its interior, including all rooms and decorations.

- About mounts, the concept we showed in a previous devlog, is now a reality! The system is 100% ready with the sprint, collection and other necessary things. 🔥

- Using some animals and creatures we already had in the game, along with a bunch of cool new saddles we made, we've got plenty of mounts ready to hit the road! If we consider different colors and saddles, we have around 65 variations for now, but we're far from finished. We plan to create many more mounts and also develop armors and more awesome content related to them!🐎

- We've also made a change on how the ultimate works. For those unfamiliar, they function similarly to Brawl Stars/Overwatch, where you charge your ultimate by landing hits with your regular abilities. Once it reaches 100% you have your ultimate ready to go. We've kept that system, but now we'll also allow players to accumulate 'energy' beyond 100%, up to 125%. So when you use your ultimate, you will spend 100% of your energy, but still have some remaining if you've gathered more than that amount.⚡

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
🧙‍♂️ Dev Note: We did this because some heroes' ultimates are easier to pull off, requiring less positioning and timing, so they had an advantage. They could use their ultimates as soon as they got them and start gathering energy very fast. On the other hand, heroes that needed more positioning were having a worse performance. With this change, you've got the option to wait a bit before using your ultimate since you can now stack up to 25% more energy before you decide to use it.
- As this is a Devlog showcasing Orbryn, we also wanted to give you a sneak peek of the Dwarven Kingdom. ⛏️

- We've returned to working on the bosses, finishing the balance and skills of the Undead Wyvern, and the Irhaal boss fight. Now, we're planning to do more! We have 15 ready but are aiming for at least 25!

- 17 adorable pets (including some color variations), were completed. This brings our total to 62!🐾

We are kicking off our "Create a Pet" contest! This is your chance to let your imagination run wild and dream up an amazing pet. Whether you’re sketching out your ideas with a pen or bringing them to life digitally, we’re eager to see your unique creations!

✍️ To participate, join our Discord and submit your creation in the event channel.

We would love to hear which part of this devlog captured your interest the most. Thank you once again for your time and continued support! ❤️

See you in the next devlog! 👋

Team Note: We've been watching your video responses to our devlogs and love seeing your feedback and reactions.😄

The latest addition to our merchandise store is four new pewter miniature sets from Brigador at 1:144 scale. They are:
These new models were made by one of our community members, who makes minis as part of their day job at Mindworm Games.

Like before, the miniatures are being sold at introductory prices for the first month, which are:

Introductory price
Price after introductory period
22.50 USD
27.50 USD
20.00 USD
25.00 USD
27.50 USD
32.50 USD
22.50 USD
27.50 USD
Prices are not the same for the four miniatures due to the different amounts of pewter required. In addition, you will receive 15 USD off when adding three of any miniature to your cart.

Please note that this introductory period will last until Thursday February 29th, after which they will go up to their intended value. The sums indicated above also do not account for shipping.

We learned a lot from the previous run and have taken precautions to deal with any potential influxes of demand or delays. If it so happens that you see a miniature to be out of stock on our store, it should be back in stock within about two weeks. In addition, the latest run of minis will come with new stickers on the blister packs.

Since the spincasting process was already detailed in this post from August last year, the rest of this article will detail the contents of each blister pack, along with a few pictures from the workshop. All models come unpainted and unassembled. The images of painted models we provide in this article and on our merchandise store are for demonstration purposes.

If you’d like to buy a pewter mini right now - head on over to our store. Otherwise, please enjoy the rest of the article.

Finally, Stellar Jockeys thanks everyone for the positive reception to (and patience waiting for) the initial run last summer. To both celebrate the response and in anticipation of the new models featured in this article, our community discord ran the Olive Drab Everything mini painting contest from September to October and received a wonderful set of responses. The winners of that competition have already received their pick of the new models. You can view a gallery of the various entrants and winning submissions here and we look forward to seeing what people do with the new store additions.

January has been a solid month for progress!

I've been heads down on finishing up the minigames, so sorry for the lack of updates on socials! I'm so excited to say that I'm really happy with the minigames. I think I prototyped ~6 different minigames and unfortunately some ended up not being very fun. But, now I’ve finalized 3 new minigames + 1 pseudo minigame that I'm happy with!

We’re planning on doing some internal playtesting soon, and I hope to share the new minigames once we’ve polished them up!

A lot of development time is currently being used for polishing and adding quality-of-life features! Unfortunately, that means I don’t have as much “fun” stuff to show off, but I know that all this polish time will help create a better experience overall. I’ve also gotten a lot better at designing UI over time, so I have been going back to older menus to fix those up! I know some of the menus in the current demo aren’t the best, but don’t worry - they’re fixed up now 🙂

I also plan to have an updated demo out before the release, so stay tuned for that!

Here's a sneak peek of Apollo’s room:

It also features decoration mode, if you haven’t seen it yet! It allows you to switch which items the residents put up in their room. You’ll also be able to decorate the common rooms with items from your inventory if you’d like.

Thanks for your patience and for all your support!

The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest - ryan.rasing
From zombies running around and goblins hopping everywhere, you’ll find there’s plenty to look forward to (and come across unexpectedly) within TASQ’s unique day and night cycle.

Zombies of Bram!
What else could set the tone for the first town you’ll enter than to have it be plagued with zombies at night? You can use your whip to destroy their degraded bodies!

Also in Bram, if you hang out just before the night arrives, you’ll see civilians running inside their homes and doors slamming shut! Don’t want any zombies breaking in to eat your brain? Shut the damn door!

Bela Goblins!
In the evening hours, the town of Bela will become overrun with goblins! This annoyingly boisterous lot will hop all over the place as they try to attack you, so be sure to WHIP them all into bloody pieces!

And you’ll want to stick around other places on your Transylvania adventure until nighttime to see what bizarre phenomena may occur!

Stay tuned for even more updates!

Tales of: Sena - CloudWork Studio

To start things off,
we want to apologize for the lack of communication in the past two months.
and because of that we decided to create this community post to clarify and talk about changes involving us and Tales of: Sena in general.
With that, we hope that questions, and rumors about the situation get answered.

We split this Community Post into three parts for better organization, those parts are:

  • Removal of Tales of: Sena
(Chapter 1 and the Steam page)

  • The future of Tales of: Sena

  • Personal words from Josh

We hope that these points answer all of your questions, and if that isn't the case, you can contact us via Discord or our support email.
(Both are linked below the post and on our socials via the Steam page)

Removal of Tales of: Sena

Chapter 1 and the Steam page

As many of you know, we removed the Steam page and the game from Steam, while still keeping the name "Tales of: Sena".
Let's talk about it, shall we?

We've decided to remove both things for two major reasons:
copyright and planned changes involving the full game and its story.
We won't be discussing the copyright side of it since most of it is internal information, but it made us not only cancel the planned big update but as said, the full Chapter 1.

Talking about the second part is relatively simple, we are all pretty much new developers and started this project with basically no knowledge, and after time you obviously get better at what you do.
Well, that happened to us, and we straight up didn't really like the product that we published anymore.
That doesn't mean we hated it, not at all, but we saw or rather see more in it than there was with the Chapter 1 release.

All that brought us to this moment where both the Steam page and the game are "vaulted" and removed from the servers.
Some of you also saw that the achievements are gone, which is on purpose for game testing reasons, but don't worry, there will be a lot more once we are done with the full release.

The future of Tales of: Sena

Plans and thoughts

The future is bright, that's for sure, and we as a team are more than excited about the future of the Tales of: Sena franchise.
We have a lot of cool things planned, and with our team being newly "rebranded" and set up, we are ready to make the best game we possibly can.
We can't say too much yet, for obvious reasons such as spoilers, but we can announce that the individual chapter releasing method of the first release is gone, and instead we will be focusing on delivering a full game/story experience in the Tales of: Sena universe.

Speaking of, we are happy to say that out of the people that actually read this message, almost ALL will get "Tales of: Sena" (the full game), for free since you've all supported us since day one.

Our socials will also soon be redone so we can share more new stuff with all of you, such as behind the scenes or sneak peeks.
(On our Discord server, we have already started doing that, so if you are interested, the link is down below)

Lastly, I want to talk about the Steam page coming back. Since we don't want to remove the game fully from Steam, we will keep the page we have right now which is empty at the moment.
We will re-activate the game and Steam page with the full launch.

Currently, we are just working on the story, maps, RPG system and a possible trailer (planned for the end of 2024, hopefully) so we are not on break.

Personal words from Josh

Thoughts and opinion about the situation

Hey,
I just wanted to add a quick word about my personal thoughts about the topic to this post and express what I am feeling.
Tales of: Sena has been in my head and my dream project since the end of 2020, and seeing it finally bloom now in 2022/23 fills me with joy I can't describe yet, but I am very thankful for everything so far.
Seeing people like what you create is cool on its own, but people actually still following you after such a big thing that happened,
speaking about the removal, is beyond my mind.

From my side, it couldn't be better at the moment. Obviously, I know for you, it's not the best at the moment since... well the game is gone, but I will personally make 100% sure to get this done and deliver an awesome experience that will pull your silly and sad strings. ;)

Thanks for the support and have a nice day, Josh.
