We’re excited to be featured alongside many other fine narrative games in The Storyteller’s Festival!
The Storyteller’s Festival begins on January 29th 18:00pm (GMT)/10:00am (PST), and we’ll be live streaming Mask of the Rose on the 30th at 10:00pm (GMT)/14:00pm (PST). Hope to see some of you there!
Update: Daffodil
We've also just released Daffodil: the latest update for Mask of the Rose, and one which will be the last for now.
Bugfixes Galore
Daffodil is mostly about bugfixing: bringing Mask of the Rose to a nice, tidy state so we can commence work proper on the console ports for PlayStation and Xbox.
Taught Griz to use the correct pronouns for Mr Fires.
Convinced David to stop playing gooseberry during other people's sentimental conversations at the Feast.
Revised what it means when the player selects that they dislike a person, so that it now means "I don't like them" and also "I'm not attracted": an improvement to clarity, if perhaps a disappointment to enemies-to-lovers tropers.
Discouraged Harjit from bolting immediately after the player's confession of feelings, no matter how overwhelmed Harjit might be.
Stopped Horatia from thanking the player for fulfilling her request when she never made such a request in the first place; gratitude can be carried to excess.
Prevented Reginald from teleporting into the player's bedchamber during a personal conversation with Moss.
Stopped Harjit from growling too many times in a row, no matter how fetching he finds the player.
Prevented Archie from initiating a second seduction immediately after the first, though it pained us to correct this.
Many typos and grammatical errors have been fixed.
Thanks so much for playing, your feedback has been so helpful! We've been hard at work fixing the bugs you have spotted.

General Gameplay Adjustments
- 'Attack All' abilities (Rainfall, Frosmol) will no longer incorrectly deal bonus damage. - 'Hyper' Gameplay Speed is now even faster. - Changing the gameplay speed during battles will now trigger the next action – allowing battles that previously soft locked to be resolved.
Misc.
- Locked off additional regions on the Map Screen. - Corrected Howlder's sprite appearing incorrectly on their card. - Toned down scrolling pattern movement on loading screens to address motion sickness concerns. - Allowed tooltips to be hidden in the shop, preventing items from being obstructed. - Sound Effects can now be muted in the Settings screen. - Corrected numerous grammatical errors.
Bug Fixes
- Bonus XP items in the Shop now correctly charge the player on purchase. - Kadomon will now reset their position correctly following an attack. - Kadomon will no longer attempt to use their 'On Start' passive before correctly taking their place in the queue. - Kadomon Cards can no longer stack in the same slot on the Setup screen. - Purchasing Kadomon in the shop will no longer prevent their Kadodex entries from being unlocked. - Releasing Kadomon for Bonus XP should no longer create gameplay issues or duplicates. - Purchasing Kadomon in the shop should no longer result in duplicates. - Kadomon now sync correctly when using the Bag in Rest Areas. - Addressed only one Misprint form being saved when banking at a Rest Area. - Misprints will now correctly unlock on Run Completion. - Fixed repeated inputs allowing for easy Item/Field Effect duplication.
As we're getting closer to our release we're planning to move focus from Prologue updates to the full game, hopefully sharing more about the new content that's being worked on in Act II. We'll try to cover all the development news by posting new devlogs on the full game page instead, so make sure to follow us there and wishlist it! 😇
A smaller update that fixes some of the performance issues, crashes and bugs is also here. Hopefully this patch should finalize our work on Prologue, making it more stable. Once again, we're always happy to hear about your feedback, impressions and ideas!
Be sure to follow us on Twitter for updates and join our community on Discord for sneak peeks and share your feedback!

The main purpose of 0.2.X updates will be bringing new content into the game. Update 0.2.1 is the first stepping stone towards that goal.
Shop Construction Process Streamlined
Before adding new shops into the game, I wanted to address the construction process first, as it was confusing at times. The main reason for that was mostly separate building menus for shop layout construction and products construction. Once you had your shop constructed and you hired your cashiers, you then had to navigate to a separate product building menu.
Fixing this issue was fairly straightforward - the shop construction menu and product construction menu are now merged into one.
For already built shops, you can access this menu in 2 ways - through shop's entrance (the same way as products build menu in previous versions) or through shop's dashboard (this remains the same). Products are not required to be build in order to finish shop construction, meaning that you can still build layout for all your shops first, and then come back to them and build products later.
New Decoration
3 New Floor Designs
The next couple of updates will be more packed with these, but I wanted to sprinkle some new decoration for this update as well. For this, I've added 3 new floor designs. In combination, these allow you to creatively decorate floor with various shapes.
3 New Decoration Objects
Oak Tree
Big Palm Tree
Decorative Cactus
Changes from Hotfix 0.2.0.1 & 0.2.0.2
These two hotfixes focused on smaller bug fixes after 0.2.0 launch, but I wanted to highlight one thing in this update as well. Mall Craze now has support for DirectX 11. From received crash reports (Thank you for them and please continue sending them!), the main problem with random periodic crashes for some people seems to be DirectX 12 related. I've written various possible fixes in this new Crash Troubleshooting Guide.
Coming in 0.2.2
New shops are right around the corner, with 0.2.2 being the first update that will feature a new shop! It is Tuesday today, so I should start with the creation process right away.
Thank you for your support, and take care! - Milan, developer
