about the game
Veil of Shadows is an action-adventure game with roguelite elements. With a casual gameplay, you will control Sirène through forests and waste land in order to understand what's happening to her, why she's so confused and lost in a place that means nothing to her but fear, challenge and menace.
During her journey, you will be able to get different bows and arrows, shoot different types of monsters, complete some quest, get a companion and fight bosses (not on the DEMO, to not give spoilers).
When the DEMO is out, we gonna be receiving suggestions, comments and bug on Discord only, so, if you want to help and participate of this process, please access our Discord link above, we would so much appreciated it! For all those that will participate we will not forget you!
It's only been a few days, but I'm happy to see so many of you folks enjoying the game! :)
Your kind words and support have been absolutely motivating, and I'm working hard to smoothen out your experience with the game post launch and moving forward.
v2.5 brings several bugfixes to the table, as well as my initial push to rebalance boss fights. Here's what I've been up to:
Boss Fight Initial Changes
Starting things off with boss fights.
Many of you wished to see that Arts would deal more damage in relation of the investment they take to Charge. Starting with Patch 2.5, Arts now deal much greater damage. Judging by the feedback I received, this was probably the biggest gripe folks had.
Attack turns chances and random chances have also been revised, as well as a few bugs fixed related to all boss fights that I found through testing.
I will be working on boss fights frequently, and have a few ideas I'd like to explore on the first Dynamic Update, but details on that will come with our first Newsletter/Steam update in February.
Bug Fixes
The following bugs have been fixed with this update:
- In some cases, Mina would get stuck in the Fortress Ruins. Only downward movements were working.
- The ability to move during the Eidolon post battle cutscene.
- Boundary breaking in the Fortress Ruins.
- Cardinal loop lock - a message guiding the player to Mt. Kaboo was causing a loop lock of docking the Cardinal if they were attempting to exit in some areas.
- Several boundary breaking bugs in Mt. Kaboo have been fixed, along with Mina's frozen status (hit by a Frost Jelly) being revised.
- The game crashes suddenly in the basement in the Lofgren Mansion after a Mimic chest has been opened, or a player has returned after the chest had been opened.
- The ability to clip through gates and locked doors once being hit by an enemy.
- l input being released after exiting a room. Players can now continue in any direction they wish while walking through doors without being stopped when entering/exiting.

We’re back at it here and we’ve got a nice little update to discuss. Firstly, happy new year! The team hopes you had a great holiday. We’ve been working on some general gameplay improvements and adding some new features. Below is just a writeup along with a devlog on what we’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks.
RV Improvements
The RV has been a team favorite since the concept. We’ve always loved the idea of creating a “mobile home base." In 1.28 that vision becomes more of a reality. The RV is now fully functional. This includes the stove, sink, bed, rear ladder and a functioning/lockable side door.
These features have been a long time coming. Along with the working RV features, we are introducing a new RV variant. The player can now find a completely empty RV, allow you to place crates, new lockable storage and whatever else you’d like to store inside.

This has been probably one of the most requested features from the community. The ability to cook inside the RV allows for a true nomad experience. The player can also get dirty water from the sink, for the time being the supply is endless.

The RV door has always been kind of wonky, in 1.28 players can manually close and now lock the door. A well fortified RV locked up is a very secure and feasible survival vehicle.

In version 1.28 the bed can now be used to set home. This creates a genuine nomad experience and rounds the RV off nicely. You can live on the road and always respawn back at your fortified RV.

Another feature added to the RV in 1.28 is a working ladder mechanic for the rear ladder. 1.27 introduced placement mechanics for the RV. This allows players to place loot/fortifications or random items on most surfaces in and on the RV.
This feature also encompasses the RV’s roof. Players can now easily access and use the roof for storage or some kind of insane rolling fortress…

Empty RV and Prison Bus
Placement mode inside vehicles has opened up some new possibilities. We realized with this mechanics introduction in 1.27 that empty/cleaned out versions of both the RV and Police Bus were absolutely needed, allowing players to retrofit their vehicles as they see fit.

Performance
Various server improvements to bring the RAM usage down significantly. 1.27 introduced a bug which caused the server to use 6gb. That should now be down to 2gb.
