This weekend only, Sombra is changing up the rules for Quick Play. Enjoy Quick Play: Hacked – Quicker Play - a fun, new way to play with faster capture speeds, payloads, and respawn times. Experience more team fights, more games, and new strategies. Here are the changes:
Respawning times are now 75% of their original time.
Payloads in Escort and Hybrid maps will move 60% faster.
Taking control of the Objective Point in Hybrid is 40% faster than normal.
Taking control of the objective point in Control is 40% faster than normal, and scoring the capture progress percentage is 80% faster.
Taking control of the objective point in Flashpoint is 20% faster than normal, and scoring the capture progress percentage is 40% faster.
When you play an Escort, Hybrid, or Push map, the initial match time has been reduced to 70% of the original time, and any time extensions are also reduced to 70% of the total time added.
These changes only apply to all players who play in Role Queue and Open Queue Quick Play modes during the duration of the event and will return to normal after January 14. Competitive Play and Arcade modes are not affected by these changes.
Quicker Play is the first Quick Play: Hacked. We want to explore new and fun ways to change core Quick Play gameplay. Changes will happen periodically and only for a limited time.
We know you may have some questions, so here is a short FAQ to help:
Q. Why change the rules of Quick Play for a weekend?
We want to learn what changes to Overwatch 2 you enjoy the most. Testing new ideas with you for a limited time allows us to quickly understand what you like and possibly implement changes to improve gameplay. This also gives players of all skill levels an opportunity to try out new playstyles and strategies that wouldn’t necessarily work as well in a traditional game of Overwatch.
Q. Why not create a separate play card in the Arcade?
The Arcade is meant for game modes that typically only play one specific map type (like Assault) or completely different ways to play Overwatch. The Quick Play: Hacked changes affect the core gameplay of our main mode, while still aiming to bring a more balanced play experience that is unique from the traditional ruleset.
Q. Why didn’t we bring back the Experimental Play card?
We want to encourage more players to join in on the fun. In addition, most of the experimental cards from Overwatch tested hero balance changes, whereas these changes affect the core gameplay rules of Quick Play.
Q. How can I play the regular Quick Play ruleset?
You can start up a custom game with the traditional Quick Play rules and invite other players. Quick Play matchmaking will return to the normal rules after January 14.
Be sure to log in starting tomorrow, January 12, through January 14, and see how fast you can keep up with Quicker Play. Let us know what you think and what new hacks to Quick Play you would like to see in the future.

Adjustments
Living Peak Stage
Reduced the amount of Frogolems in the Stage to speed up the battle towards the boss. Players will reach the boss at a lower level because of the amount of enemies.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue with damage increase to enemies caused by debuffs not resetting properly upon enemy death;
Fixed a bug with Chiselo's Self Portrait as it was not causing damage with its sculpt impacts;
Fixed a bug where Agriana would not be able to harvest crops due to empty skill slots on the skill bar;
Fixed an issue with the stage Living Peak where the game would freeze under certain circumstances;
Some damage increase buffs were granting permanent damage bonuses after being removed. The calculation has been changed to avoid these situations;
Fixed an issue with Hanvilton that let him have 0 durability cost in certain situations;
Adjusted the amount of gold needed to perform for the level 29 Fisherman’s Hut upgrade as it was requesting way more gold than intended.
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for playing the game! We are thrilled to see the game standing at the Very Positive rating, and we appreciate every bit of the feedback we received from you so far!
We have said this many times, but we are reading your feedback on all possible channels. This roadmap might not show every little detail we have in store for you, but we'll keep doing more of what you love and making some drastic but positive changes to the game.
I'm sure you have questions after going over this Roadmap, so I will go ahead and add some clarifications.
New Spell System
We watched a lot of streams and videos of Wizordum, and we've noticed that most players don't even use consumable items and spells. Lots of feedback was given about this issue as well. Because of that, we will introduce a Spell System that will make using spells more practical and fun. We will still have consumables, but they will be used for Potions, Torches, and other items. We will talk more about the system in the near future.
Merchant & Coins
Treasure in Wizordum was always meant for bonus points only so that you could climb up the online leaderboards. However, it turns out most of you would prefer to have a store in the game where you could exchange that treasure for something more practical. With this system, you will be able to spend your coins to upgrade your Spells and weapons and buy a few other things. Rest assured, score hunters, the classic score hunting, will stay as well.
Alternative attacks for all Weapons
Lots of you asked for alternative attacks to make weapons even more fun, and we're going to do just that. So far, only the Frostweaver has the alternative attack, and we are releasing an update soon with the Mace's alternative attack, but are already planning some great alternatives for the rest.
New Playable Character
With the new Spell System in place, we would like to introduce additional playable characters as well with a different spell arsenal, stats, and possibly even some weapons so you can re-play the game in a different way.
Last Update Before the Next Big Content Update
We want to stabilize the game with one final update so we can focus 100% on the next big update - Episode 2. There's a lot to do, and we would like to keep the focus there.
What about other stuff?
There are other minor and more significant changes we are planning to do over the course of the Early Access or for the v1.0. Here are some of them without a specific date or order.
Changing the Sewers level from Episode 1 to make it more fun
Possibly splitting the City of Ember from Episode 1 into two maps while adding something extra to both.
Adding Collectible Lore Scrolls to the levels, which will reveal bits of the story
Updating the AI to make enemy encounters more fun
Additional input support (e.g., consumable / weapon selection wheel)
Map Editor improvements
Animated Story Screens
Please remember that everything can change slightly, from features to dates, but this is the active plan we are following. That also means that any new feedback is still very valuable.
I hope you like what you're seeing on the Roadmap. Is there anything specific you are incredibly excited about? Let us know!

Current Known Issues
We've found that Mammon's Chains of Avarice isn't providing coins to the Big Boy... We've fixed this, but it's not polished enough to be implemented this weekend!
If a full lobby is abandoned by the Host, it will safely destroy the game, but other players won't be notified. They can safely exit the lobby. If a player gets in first and submits a turn, they will get an NMA, close the game and reopen to escape.
Amulets that boost and maintain your power to level 2 aren't currently working as intended. (The Amulets affected are the Amulet of Wrath, Amulet of Deceit, Amulet of Prophecy, Amulet of Destruction, Amulet of Charisma).
Queuing for a live game AND async matchmaking game simultaneously can get the game into a strange state -- preferably just do one, or the other!
Small potential, particularly in sessional games, for the client to get stuck on a previous turn, more common if a turn or turns are missed. Can usually be addressed by quitting the client and relaunching.
Attacking a legion that just spawned in the current turn can leave the battle UI on screen. Can remedy this by restarting the client.
Battle Report replays (via the View button) may not resolve correctly in all cases.
If eliminated from a sessional game, you may not be able to play another sessional (or async) MP game until that game ends. You'll likely continue to receive notifications each turn as well, and can continue to view the game, though you won't have turns to submit.
If a player joins a lobby before the host has selected an Archfiend, the lobby may have some info wrong (game name, etc).
If Diplomacy icons are missing from Diplomacy screen, causing the game state to refresh (add or remove an order, ie Demand Tribute) will make them appear.
We have experienced an issue where turns may pop a little sooner than the turn timer indicates. We don't have a reliable reproduction for this yet though. It usually progresses when there's a minute left on the turn timer.
Other Notes
If players have a sessional game active, your async games will be locked. You can return to your async games by forfeiting from your sessional games.
You can abandon your matches from the main front menu.
You can also abandon/forfeit matches in-game:
To leave an async game: Hit ESC and the Archfiend Trail of the Throne UI will come up, down the bottom left is the Abandon Game Button
To leave a sessional lobby: Hit ESC and there will be the Vertical Menu (there will be a Forfeit button nested in the middle there).
You can access this menu even in the End Game Screens by hitting ESC.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that this product will be withdrawn from Steam and no further updates will be published due to the failed health of the developer known as ApocalypseToday.
