1. Added line traced bullets for better registration
2. Reduced physics speed by 5x since bullets are no longer tied to physics

Bullets still occasionally miss due to the targeting being slightly off. Still looking for a solution for this, so if you're still missing occasional shots its expected. However, this will make the actual hit registration much more accurate, as the physics engine is no longer needed to do damage to enemies. You may notice the game isn't as "smooth" as before, this is because of the reduced physics. This should greatly help on lower end systems.

If you absolutely hate the reduced physics speed let me know, I can revert it or perhaps make it an adjustable gameplay/graphics setting.

The passage of the three salt shakers has been slightly modified. Some hitboxes have been revised to prevent the sausage from getting stuck. The kitchen has been stocked with fresh products. 🖱️ Input Changes
  • Hit Window mechanics has been reworked! Shorter base hit windows but similar timings for Perfect.
  • Added three new Input Calibration parameters to reduce double hits: Slow Speed Input Stabiliser, Fast Speed Input Stabiliser, and Turning Input Stabiliser.
  • For all three, higher values will lower sensitivity but lower values will increase sensitivity
  • Minimum turn cooldown has been lowered to 20ms to allow you to play fast maps with the stabilisers.
  • If you want to revert to the old settings, set
    • Turning input stabiliser to 0 seconds
    • Fast speed input stabiliser to 0.01 seconds
    • Slow speed input stabiliser to 0.05 seconds
    • … And other settings same as before
⚙️ Input preset changes
  • Added an Extreme default preset for super fast maps and four default presets for tablet.
  • Input presets are automatically changed depending on the difficulty of the song if a default preset is selected. You can disable this in options.
✉️ Multiplayer Additions
  • Multiplayer lobby owners can send an “Open Invite” to their game in the in-game chat.
  • Players can send personal invites to other players to join the multiplayer lobby they are in. You can do this by clicking on a member’s name in the in-game chat and clicking the invite action.
  • Added 4 new achievements and 1 hidden achievement related to multiplayer.
📢 Steam Rich Presence
  • When playing/editing a map, watching a replay, browsing for maps, or playing in a multiplayer lobby, Steam's rich presence will be updated to reflect that.
✨ Miscellaneous
  • Locked avatars are now also shown in the avatar selection panel but cannot be selected. Hovering over each avatar will show you the unlock condition.
  • Added ability to change volume by holding ALT and scrolling with the mouse wheel
  • Achievement descriptions have been localised. Texts beginning with (A) have been automatically translated.
🛠️ Bug Fixes
  • Fix lag spike when players join/leave a lobby with many players and there is an open invite in the chat.
  • Made it so that you cannot change the volume of the game while the cursor is not within the game

Here is my first video for the 2024 development logs I will be doing every week regarding the project.

I have abandoned using unity because of the new pricing model, and to be honest because of limitations using unity. I have really been enjoying learning the unreal engine, and how powerful is is compared to using unity for developing games.

I am re writing the game entirely in the blueprint system, and will be using no code from any third party asset purchased.


Currently developed :

- first person character controller with custom arms model
- third person view model
- the project IS programmed entirely for multiplayer, and IS working using a server and client setup rather than using a cheap pier to pier setup.
- player inventory system and player hotbar are implemented
- testing of a player weapon in 1st person and networked view is fully working

In the next video I will be showing the harvesting system (chopping trees, and harvesting ore), animations for the hatchet, and beginning work on the crafting system.



I have not given up on what I wanted the project to be from the beginning, and I am spending the time to work on making that happen for everyone who has supported the project.

YoloMouse - Game Cursor Changer - Dragonrise Games
Finally an update! xD

Had hoped I left YM in perfect shape while I went off to work on another project, but alas software can never be perfect. These are items that crept up over time...

One in particular is based on reported issues I couldn't reproduce. But I knew these must be related to the hooking system (where YM jumps into a game and tweaks its cursor). So I ended up rewriting the whole thing to fix a lot of performance and stability issues. One caveat is you may be nagged with an admin popup for old 32bit games that run as admin - like DAOC.

The other important update finally fixes the wierd input issues some may have noticed in certain anticheat protected games like Lost Ark.

Also some new cursors! :)

Btw, that project I mentioned is a new crosshair app called YoloX. It uses much of YM's tech and some improvements of its own that I rolled back into YM.

UPDATES
  • 1.8.3: Fix: Error popup if opening YM quickly multiple times.
  • 1.8.3: Fix: Subscribed workshop cursors disappearing if starting YM while steam already running while "sync with steam" is OFF.

  • new: cursors: anvil, bag, balance, book, bow, chest, flame, heart, mail, satchel, skull
  • buff: improve performance by disabling rendering for the cursor and settings menus when theyre not in focus.
  • buff: improve performance and anticheat security by only hooking into intended apps.
  • buff: improve hooking safety against crashing the target app
  • buff: block other overlays from hooking into YM. this prevents various known or potential problems.
  • remove: old 32bit injector. replaced by above changes.

We have re-patched and updated the critical and minor bugs found in this update.

- A bug where the wave monster could not recognize the player after the player died.
- A bug where the start sequence kept repeating after loading the game.
- Incorrect starting position
- Modification of monster tracking distance
- A bug where the UI did not disappear when the fishing rod was brought into the inventory.

We will continue to quickly fix bugs.

We have been awfully quiet this year, we know! 😓 Several unexpected life situations have hit the development of the game hard as the pouring rain hits our characters in-game.

Despite these unforeseen troubles, and contrary to some shady sources online (do not trust these), we´re glad to inform you that the development of Noir Storm continues, slowly but steadily. 😎

What´s in store for next year, you wonder? The release of the official DEMO is imminent; we want players to get to know the prologue of the story while we work on Act One development, which is scheduled for release sometime next year on Steam.

The migration of the the entire Act One build, which was already playable on a custom-made system, to the robust Adventure Creator plugin for Unity has proven to be quite an odyssey, but the result is much better than our previous iteration; we could not be happier! 🤟🙂
