Exoplanet: A Project Coreward Demo - GreggBzz
Hi everyone, tonight I'm pleased to release Exoplanet as the free demo for: Project Coreward.

Project Coreward, the completion of Exoplanet, is releasing in mid-January 2024. This is the real deal! Project Coreward is a 10 hour plus open-world RPG and the culmination of years of work. It is the full Exoplanet experience extended, rebranded and REBUILT.

One final note, this build will break all legacy Exoplanet save games. If you'd like the "old" Exoplanet game back, you can switch your branch in the game settings to the beta version:

Here it is, the version you've all been waiting for, Alpha 0.1.0...

Daring Academy Alpha 0.1.0 is divided into two versions: Original Version and Chapter 1 Demo.

Differences on the Chapter 1 Demo:
  • It's available on Steam Itch.io and Gamejolt for free, even when the main game is done (0.1.0 to 1.0.0 will only be available on Itch.io)
  • Achievements are removed, due to an issue on Steam's end
  • Backgrounds in UIs are changed to the apartment, indicating the moving in of the main character and Amelia
  • Anything regarding the full game has been changed to mention the demo, that includes logos, version numbers, etc

We strongly recommend you play the Chapter 1 Demo to get a feel of the game, as if you plan on getting all achievements in the game, saves from the Chapter 1 Demo won't give the achievements from Chapter 1 upon playing Chapter 2 and onward, due to issues with Steam demos and all.

Note: As with any alphas, there are a ton of internal code changes and file reorganizations, so saves might not be compatible between the old versions. Alpha 0.1.0 and onwards will try to keep as much support with Chapter 1 saves as possible, but may become incompatible in future updates, so beware.

For Steam Deck Users: While playtesting the game on Steam Deck, we encountered an issue in Desktop Mode where the keyboard wouldn't show up if it the game was in fullscreen mode, even when pressing Steam+X. If this issue appears to you, please connect a keyboard to your device. The keyboard works fully in gaming mode though.

If you have Decky Loader on your Steam Deck, you can change the artworks of the Chapter 1 demo build using SteamGridDB plugin​. See the official GitHub for SteamGridDB to learn how.

You can download and play 0.0.1, known as the Legacy Edition to see all the progress in 3 years of development. This edition of 0.0.1 doesn't change the story from said version but adds smaller things like a smaller cursor, Discord rich presence support, etc. Go to https://thediamondcryst.itch.io/daring-academy-chapter-1-demo or select the Legacy branch in the Steam build settings to play it. Note: Any issues in this version will not be fixed. Saves in that version of the game are also not compatible with the Chapter 1 Demo, 0.1.0, or the full game.

Sometimes when you press play it just loads the main menu level again, but if you press play again
the issue would be resolved and you would load a level correctly, but that is not the case for a user
called trungledorph, no matter how many times he presses the play he keeps coming back to the main menu, i've got no idea why or how this happens currently, so as a quick fix i added this continue run confirmation, the only way the issue i described will happen with this confirmation is if you press "Yes"
it will try to load level that is saved from save file and sometimes the issue would happen, if that happens
press "No" it will just open the hub level without getting any references and will work 100% of the time

Welcome, Park Testers!

This PTB release improves guest pathfinding and game stability with various crash fixes for what could be experienced in Update 9.

You should see guests making better use of their walkable space, especially when encountering multiple chokepoints throughout the park. Previously, they would almost exclusively form a single chokepoint. We have ideas on how to further improve guest pathfinding which will be implemented early next year.

How to Access the Public Testing Branch (Experimental!)

The Public Testing Branch (PTB) is a version of Prehistoric Kingdom that can be opted-into on Steam, containing experimental and potentially breaking changes. With the help of the community, we're able to hunt down various issues and gather feedback before pushing a an update to the public version of Prehistoric Kingdom.
  1. Right click Prehistoric Kingdom in your Steam Library
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Betas
  4. Select 'ptb_public_testing'
Please note that it is not recommended to play Public Testing Branch parks on earlier versions of the game. Please send feedback and bug reports to our Discord server's appropriate channel.
