Adaptory - jevon
Alpha 7 is now live! You can download a copy on itch.io for free.

If you find any bugs, issues, balance problems or suggestions, please let us know on Discord or by email so we can keep improving the game! 🙂

The focus of this release has been technology, to try get the game as stable as possible before adding all of the systems and content for Early Access. This release has been heavily tested but there may be some bugs, so please let us know.

----

New art

We’ve replaced all of the raw resource pile art with brand new art, and it looks amazing. There’s different art for small and big piles, and whether the piles are falling through space or are settled on the ground. Explorers also show what they’re carrying – whether raw elements, or items such as oxygen candles.

Explorers carrying dirt to supply the coal generator building blueprint

There’s also new art and animations for the battery and light buildings.

Tools for streamers

We’re starting to add some tools for streamers to play the game with their community! To start off, you’re now able to rename your explorers. You can change their name at the start of the game, or in the middle of a game by clicking on their name:

You can now rename your explorers

Resource counting

Not sure if you’re running low on construction materials? Is your oxygen candle supply getting dangerously low? We’ve added a resource counter that automatically works out how many resources your crew is able to use. (It does not include resources that are buried, locked away behind doors, or otherwise inaccessible.)

The Resource Station shows all available items to your crew

Save and load

You can now save and load your game in Adaptory, allowing for longer play sessions. This also means you can share save games with your friends, and perhaps collaborate on a base together!

Autosave has also been added (by default every ten minutes). Occasional game crashes should no longer be the end of your game. Save/load is experimental so please let us know if your save game doesn’t load properly.

New audio and FMOD support

Alpha 7 marks our first release with sound design contributed by Mika! We have been adding lots of extra clicks and sounds and adaptive audio throughout the game. There’s also three new music tracks in the game, including a music loop played in the main menu – I recommend listening to the music with headphones, if possible!

This release also switches our audio engine from OpenAL to FMOD.

And a lot more

  • More descriptions added to items and elements
  • Animated dialogs for alerts and popup menus
  • Brand new scrollbars that feel better and are more accessible
  • A shiny new splash screen at the start of the game
  • Command-line switches
  • Windowed fullscreen mode
  • And of course, lots of bug fixes and performance improvements

Full patch notes below.

What’s next?

We will be participating in Steam Next Fest Feb 2024 so most of the next few weeks we will be focusing on getting our demo and Steam page polished.

Shortly after Steam Next Fest, the plan is to officially enter Steam Early Access! The EA version of Adaptory will include:

  • Oxygen generator and gas transfer buildings (these needed a bit of a simulation rewrite, which is why it’s not in A7)
  • Configurable explorer priorities and jobs
  • Storage for resources, artefacts, and explorers
  • A refreshed and modern user interface design
  • Plants and food production
  • A basic research tree

Nightmare Trek: The Next Level Challenge - osrattitechnologies
Before, Nightmare Trek was a 2.5D platformer, now we have updated it to be fully 3D.
The Jackbox Party Pack 10 - belia
Are you looking for ways to connect with a friend in a different city? Are you tired of only talking to your pet all day? Want to replace that weekly call home with The Jackbox Party Pack 10?

Congrats! You’ve found the perfect blog post. Jackbox Games are local multiplayer games, but with a few extra steps, it’s easy to get a game started with others in remote locations.

If you’re unfamiliar with our games, our general How To Play page is a great place to learn how to start a room and connect players to a game. After you’ve checked that out, hop on back to this page!

Playing with Friends and Family

If you feel confident about your internet connections, just jump onto a videoconferencing service (like Zoom, Discord, or Google Meet). Start a game on your laptop and use the screen sharing option so that your players can see the game. Everyone can play along on their own mobile devices by using a browser and going to Jackbox.tv. If you’re having difficulty getting back to your video conferencing screen from the game’s full screen mode, go to the settings in the main lobby and turn off “Full Screen Mode.”

If you’re a Steam fan, you can skip the videoconferencing step and use Steam Remote Play Together. This feature allows you to share your local co-op games online with friends. Using Remote Play Together, only one person needs to own a copy of a Jackbox Games title. Up to four players (or more with faster internet connections) can join.

Discord screen sharing can also be a great option if you’re playing on a laptop. You and up to nine of your Discord friends can connect and have both the game and video enabled. You’ll want to see your friends’ faces when they’re laughing at your responses in Tee K.O. 2.

Some consoles also have screen share or co-stream abilities as long as you’re playing with someone who also owns that platform. Instead of streaming, many people have set up an additional webcam in front of their TV as an easier option.

You can stream using many different platforms, but we generally recommend using a PC to stream over a video conferencing service such as Zoom or Discord.

When sharing these ways, we recommend wired internet connections when possible!

Successor - Wartile
Hi everyone

First off, we're sending warm winter wishes your way. Whether you're building a snowman or snuggling up with a good game, we hope your holiday season is as magical as a level-up!

Winter Sale Alert!
We've slashed the price of Wartile by an 80% discount, our unique strategy game that brings a miniature world to life. It's an easygoing yet engaging experience, where strategy unfolds in real-time with a nifty slowdown mechanic, in contrast to Successor's full pause approach.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/404200/WARTILE/

Speaking of Successor!
We've been enhancing each faction to deepen their tactical challenge for more intricate battles and strategic decisions. We are introducing prime Sites for each faction, enabling us to elevate the tactical aspects of every encounter.

Sites pose a strategic challenge or offer unique opportunities for the ongoing battle. Randomly placed yet faction and biome-specific, these sites can be tactically destroyed or activated, adding layers of depth to each encounter. Here are a few that we have been working on.

The graveyard
a forbidding domain of the Grimm Legion now harbors a sinister threat as they spawn new graves transformed into proximity mines. Unwary Heroes or Lords who venture too close will awaken the slumbering dead.

The priest's Holy Strike, imbued with divine power, can dispel the unholy magic that binds the undead to their graves.

The Raventree
Deep within the heart of the shadowy woods, a malevolent presence festers – The Raventree, a gnarled sentinel of darkness. Beneath its twisted branches, blood ravens gather in droves. Like a ravenous vortex, they circle the Raventree, their hunger insatiable for the flesh of any living soul that dares venture too close.

The Raventree's malevolent influence extends beyond its immediate surroundings, drawing the Darkmoon fanatics to its dark embrace, their devotion fueled by its power as they nourish its roots with the blood of their sacrifices.

Tower of arrows
A defensive wooden tower has become part of the Havengore arsenal. As it stands, it will rain arrows towards the enemy in range and be impossible to destroy unless you have access to fire.

End of the Demo
We've wrapped the Halloween Demo and tucked it away like the last piece of Halloween candy. But you should soon get the chance to try out Successor, as we expect to be running a few playtest sessions at the beginning of the new year, so please stay tuned!

Happy Holidays everyone

Warm regards
The Playwood Project Dev Team

Lords of the Fallen - Boti

Greetings Lampbearers,

The Season of Revelry continues this week! Following on from the Offerings of Orius - which included new Spells, Throwables, Boss Weapon Abilities, Holiday Decorations and more.

We hope you're prepared for the Trial of the Three Spirits! To unveil their secrets and access the hidden rewards, you must conquer three unique challenges. Each armor set and weapon in this test represents one of the three factions: Radiance, Rhogar, and Umbral.

Behold, the following riddles hold clues for each trial!

Illuminator Aubrey

A cell holds the weapon of one who would in light bask
And with radiant prayers uttered, carry out his grave task
A sculpture within a tower, two more where brothers dwell
And three among those who bid their old lives farewell
A stone barrier removed upon ending your bloody quest
A lambent shrine uncovered, a once-hidden place of rest
General Engstrom

In the aftermath of a battle fought within a ravine
Before a twisted tree, pledge yourself and be seen
Gather dousing ammunition from a frozen land
And extinguish the blazes of five infernal hands
Offer another sign, one expressed most fervently
And in victory feel no shame in unleashing your glee
Herald of the Maw

Upon an eerie idol, bestow a mother's embrace
And see that firelight is cast upon your face
Lonely notes ring out, refrains to be followed
Ensure the flames are no longer by darkness swallowed
A conductor in the shadows, a grim harmony achieved
A deep descent concluding with rewards received

And that’s not all, this update also includes:

Mirror of Distortion - A new questline is now available, offering the chance to unlock a mysterious mirror with the power to transform your very physiognomy. This will enable you to modify your body shape, gender, skin tone, hair color, facial features, and even your name.

New Grievous Attacks - Each weapon family now features two unique finishers: one for single-handed wielding and another for two-handed wielding.

Storage Box - In line with your top Christmas wishlist requests, we're excited to confirm that a Coffer has been added to Skyrest Bridge. This new feature enables you to store up to 2000 items, greatly alleviating your inventory space constraints.

Twisted Tree - In addition to our earlier introduced Christmas decoriations, we also added a twisted tree that players can find when exploring the new content.

SNOWBALLS! - The festive spirit is in full swing in Mournstead with this throwable item. Have fun tossing snowballs at enemies and invaders alike, and watch as they succumb to frostbite.

All content introduced in this update will remain in the game permanently, even after the season concludes. The only exception is the seasonal decorations on vestiges, which are temporary.

Gamepad Rebinding and New Game+ Modifiers are set to arrive in the new year, as we're dedicated to ensuring the highest quality possible. Stay tuned for these exciting updates.
