It's been a wild ride in the fantastical world of our game, where Mrs. McGregor and her quirky companions, the wee beasties, have been burning the midnight oil to inch closer to the coveted early access stage. We're thrilled to spill the beans that we're gearing up for an early access launch in the next couple of months. Hold on to your kilts, because we've got a lot on our plate, but we're convinced we're on the brink of unveiling something truly worth your gaming hours.
Let's break it down for you in a way that even Bigfoot could understand:
Game Systems:
Quest System: Almost there, just needs a bit of polishing—like giving a Highland cow a good brushing. Dialogue System: Almost ready to shine, just needs a few tweaks to make the characters' banter as delightful as a Scottish sunset. Combat System: Basics are in place, but there's still some heavy lifting ahead—think of it as lifting bagpipes. Act One Storyline: Done and dusted! We've crafted a tale more gripping than a Loch Ness monster sighting. Voice Overs: Almost there, just a few touch-ups and reworkings to ensure you hear Mrs. McG's wisdom loud and clear. Quest Lines: Written and planned—like looking for werewolf poo-filled adventures. Foliage and Grass System, River and Water System: We're landscaping experts now, with separate post-processing to make the environment as picturesque as a rolling Highland meadow.
Characters that are ready to rumble:
Mrs. McG (of course), Ann, Bigfoot Early, Bigfoot Hammer, Robbie the Barman, Cpt Lack.
Areas that are polished and ready for your virtual footsteps:
The Black Kirk, Bigfoot Camp, The Castle, Rusty Badger, Scottish Flemish Houses and Harbour Area, Village One and Village Two, The Murder House, The Rectory, The Church of Bigfoot, Mrs. McGregor's Front Room.
Now, let's talk about our grand plans for the game's future:
Game Scope Redefined:
As time has marched on, and we've gotten closer to our early access release, we've had to put on our big-boy kilts and make some tough decisions. Some features we originally planned just need more time than a bagpipe solo at a ceilidh or simply didn't quite fit the story we're weaving.
Features Out (for now, at least):
Multiplayer (Might make a grand entrance later, like a mythical creature in the mist). Co-op (Could join the party fashionably late). Pre-game Character Customization (Sorry, but we're sticking to the storyline script). Companion System (It's complete and functional, but it's like trying to fit a caber into a kilt—it just doesn't work with our theme).
Coming Soon After Early Access:
Loot drops with different weapons (because who doesn't love an upgrade?). Clothing drops and Character Customization (Time to give your character a makeover). Multi Skill Trees (Get ready for some serious character growth). Companion Haggis (Yes, you read that right—ride on your shoulder and conquer the Highlands together). We're aiming to deliver a gaming experience that's more thrilling than a Highland fling and more satisfying than a plate of haggis, tatties and neaps. As we approach the finish line of our almost 4-year journey, we want to assure you that we're not promising the moon but a gaming experience that'll leave you smiling.
Have a fantastic holiday, share the game with your mates, and any thoughts or feedback you have will be cherished more than a bottle of fine Scotch. Cheers to you, our fellow adventurers!
Hi everyone! Small patch today, bringing a requested change by increasing maximum game speed a bit, and some changes to improve performance in long survival runs! (in the Celestial Dawn DLC)
Highlights
The maximum game speed is now x4 instead of x3.
[Celestial Dawn DLC] Survival Mode Difficulty Scalings
Up until this patch, the way difficulty increased while playing survival was by steadily ramping up the number of spawned enemies as time progressed, especially after minute 18, since up until that point the scaling is mainly done through the enemies leveling up.
In hindsight, I now see that was a mistake. The reasons are obvious, an infinitely scaling game mode with an infinitely increasing number of enemies spawning means worse performance as minutes go on, until the game can't handle that many enemies anymore and crashes. Rookie mistake, but let's fix that!
From this patch onwards the amount of enemies still increases over time, but once it reaches a limit (about 30-40 enemies at the same time on the screen, depending on the map), incoming enemy flow stabilizes and the scaling is now done mainly by increasing their health and resistances.
This change should drastically improve performance on deep, long survival games. I believe that it should no longer crash, no matter how long the game lasts.
We're thrilled to announce the release of Patch 7, bringing a slew of fixes and improvements to enhance your hotel renovation experience. Thank you for your valuable feedback, and we hope these changes make your renovation journey even more enjoyable. Without further ado, here are the patch notes:
