Endure The Swarm - Admiral Angst
Welcome to patch 1.2.2!

This patch has some QOL improvements, and a couple bug fixes.

First big feature is achievements! Simply load the game and it should pop all the achievements you've earned up to that point.

Next is Cloud saves! They should work. I've found cloud saves can be finicky on steam deck, enabling and disabling cloud saves can help. if you're having issues, please visit the discussions.

Now for bug fixes:
- Made the animation for spinning into a grab less stretchy/awkward.
- Fixed the final animation so all guns are present
- Fixed the text to say "Until" instead of "Unitl"

Please let me know if you encounter any more issues in the discussions. I've got some more QOL changes which I plan to implement in the coming days, and intend to do a content update before EOY.

  • Changed so that auto-save does not occur inside the castle.
*If the auto-save time has passed, the game will auto-save as soon as you leave the castle.

Bug fix
  • Fixed an error where players would become trapped inside the castle in certain situations.
  • Fixed an error where the region name was displayed abnormally when moving to another region through the fishing village boat.

Five weeks of game development!

Time just flew by 😵 But we did smashed out heaps of stuff from our todo list 😊

We have a more polished character animation from walking, sword attack, pickup and carry item, and hacking animation. And more to come like harvesting animation, pull and push animation, and magic animations.

We can also interact now with items and the environment.

We have slime variation and environment animations like swaying trees!

I did more stuff with Godot for the past 3 months versus a year of doing Mahika development in Unity! 😱

I’m personally excited on the development tasks ahead as this will define Mahika’s unique gameplay.

Strawhart’s Enter the Mindsquall update brings with it a much-anticipated content update for the Valecrest area including a completely new finale path, gunpowder-packed naval vessels, and a sunrise system.

Valecrest
  • Added a brand-new alternate finale encounter: The Mindsquall
  • Revamped the Winged Abomination finale to play fairly. Increased readability of visual effects.
  • Added an opportunity to rescue a stranded critter (should you fail to do so in Westharrow)
  • Warships now carry gunpowder. Please do not operate an open flame within their vicinity.
  • The sun will now rise over Valecrest depending on your progression
  • You can now be haunted by a ghost
Homestead
  • The homestead will now save your progress at critical points instead of saving only when you move to the next zone
  • Your mother will now warn you not to cross the crow infested bridge in the prologue
Westharrow
  • Fixed an issue that caused the guardian to fly at an incorrect rotation
  • Fixed issue where ritual gourds would not break after falling into the abyss
  • Increased time gourd ritual is allowed to be dropped
The Factorium
  • Overhauled the finale sequence to improve navigability
  • More misfires now occur during the finale; serbots can short-circuit
The Ruins
  • Improved postal system
  • The finale is now better telegraphed, normalized event timers
Accessibility
  • Phase panels will now acknowledge colorblind mode settings regardless of if they are rotated horizontally or vertically
  • Air Sigils will now always acknowledge colorblind mode settings
Controls
  • Abilities that have not yet been encountered will be hidden in the command menu.
  • Optimization
  • Significant CPU and draw call optimization across the entire game
  • Improved audio during the third cultist ritual
Fixes: General
  • Corrected many spelling and grammatical errors in apocrypha and dialogue text
  • Fixed rare issue where the screen would turn black after a ritual
  • Fixed an issue where bomb pumpkins would not respawn

Gameplay:
  • Improved the french translation of "Chronicles of a demon hunter".
  • Improved the Combat UI / Combat tips.
  • Added different sounds when hit/get hit.
  • Added a "Restart" button once you are defeated or the game is over.
  • Fixed a few missing translation.
  • The stats modification from entering a story point now appears after the description instead of before
  • Corrected an issue with constant stats modification not applying correctly

  • Improved/corrected the help section.

While I had backups in place, the challenge arose when I discovered that Unreal Engine 5.0 was no longer available for download after the reinstall.

Adapting to the situation, I promptly transitioned the game version to UE5.3, hoping for a seamless continuation. However, despite my efforts, I encountered obstacles in opening the game. Rest assured, I'm diligently exploring various workarounds to ensure that the game is fully operational before delivering it to you.

I truly appreciate your patience and support during this time. Your enthusiasm and encouragement mean the world to me, especially as an indie developer navigating the intricacies of game development. It's humbling to have such an incredible community standing by my side.

Should my attempts to rectify the issue fall short, regrettably, I may need to rebuild the game from scratch. This could potentially result in alterations to the map layout and foliage, impacting the current gameplay experience. Updates may be temporarily suspended until I can restore the game to its original state or reimagine a completely new map design.
