We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Grimhook on Steam!

We are super excited to announce that the game is complete after nine months of development! It took a team of over thirty insanely talented people to take Grimhook from a game jam to completion.

1. Newly added units: energy sword, shotgun launcher
2. Added 3 new level 1 chips: anti-shock, dodge recovery, and charging
3. Added in system settings: dynamic simulation (camera delay)
4. Optimize the tracking mechanism. The missile will not be tracked immediately after being launched, but will need to fly a short distance briefly before tracking.
5. Quantum lightning damage growth is modified to: 85% quantum damage + 35% remote damage
6. Fixed some bugs with incorrect descriptions and classifications
7. Slightly adjust the position of the initial unit

This patch note contains elements included in both 1 December 2023 and 8 December 2023 Playtest build updates.

Map Updates
  • TDM-Blitz, TDM-Sunset Yolandi, TDM-Nightward, CTF Bryn, CTF Elite, CTF Twilight Grove: Chromatic Aberration set at 30%, LUTs added for color grading, minor tweaks
  • TDM Sunset Yolandi: Radar collision model added
  • CTF Elite: Increased fog density 15%, other changes to fog draw distance
  • CTF Twilight Grove: Increased fog density by 20% overall
Music Updates
  • Added 2 new in-game tracks
  • Music now shuffles thru a playlist instead of a single song-per-map
  • Added music to TDM maps

Bugs & Crashes
Gnarlic Head Stalk:
  • Fixed issue where art was too far above the character's head.
Striker:
  • Fixed bug where the striker weapon would not be purchasable after Toot gave one to you.
Cannon:
  • Fix crash that occurs sometimes when a cannon projectile destroys itself.
Groak:
  • Increase groak swallow timeout ticks 300 -> 480. Fixes players from timing out & falling out when swallow killed by groak instead of being spat out.
Gourdo:
  • Gourdo now finishes its roar taunt, instead of cutting it halfway through.
Owlitzer:
  • Fixed charged attacks being able to kill owlitzer while it's flying in the air & being unable to collect its heartstone.
Automated Defense:
  • Temporarily disabled.
Misc:
  • Fixed issue where hair piece and ornament disappears for some animations.
  • Show ps5 button icons
  • Fixed various typos
  • Fixed crash that could happen if the player was spamming LB/ RB as the map screen opened.
  • Fixed crash that could happen when trying to forcefully spawn Flitt for a crash
  • Fix for a case where players can become zombies after reviving via mulligan or lucky revive.

Changes
Gourdo:
  • When choosing a spot to shoot its seed, try to favour areas away from the edge of the arena to reduce instances of crowded fights up against the wall.
  • Cooldown to create a new seed starts only after the current seed is destroyed.
  • Add variety to initial seed cooldown times for when there are multiple gourdos.
  • Adjust Elite Butt Slam FX timing and Hitbox timing to match each other, making it easier and more intuitive to dodge the attack.
Elite Gourdo Seed:
  • Health reduced slightly
  • Heal amount reduced
  • Heal period increased
  • Improve readability for when heal is applied, and on what it is applied.
  • Remove misleading AoE radius on elite heal seed, since the heal is global.
  • Increase physical size of seed.
