Let's wrap up the year with the largest content update to date.
New Mechanics
Some monsters now can web cards. Webbed cards can be played which removes the web, and discards the card but doesn't trigger any normal card effects. Monsters can now also freeze players. Frozen influence distributes its counter value among the player's hand next turn, increasing the costs of random cards by 1 mana per counter tick.
New Monsters
Today we welcome on board spiders, ice skeletons, scorpions, and more. Most with new mechanics. This almost doubles the number of monsters in the game and should contribute to much more run variety.
These changes come with a new improved way of adventure generation, where monster types encountered between floors are more cohesive. Once you start meeting zombies, chances to meet more zombies increase. If you encounter spiders, chances are there will be more spiders during this run. This will allow you to prepare and contribute to a more cohesive experience.
Other noteworthy changes
Launcher is now skippable in options. If skipped it will load only after updates that contain new changelogs.
Fanny Pack will now display an icon on affected cards.
The save system was reworked to write in a background thread. This is an experimental feature that should fix the stutter on the Summary Screen.
What's next?
We are now working full throttle gearing up for the 1.0 launch early next year. Before that happens there will be an Artifacts Update introducing a slew of new artifacts (including starters!). For 1.0 a new class will be added. Before that, we will organize a closed smaller-scale beta. Sign-ups for it will be posted on the community Discord, which will be the main feedback and comms channel for the playtest.
We are also reworking Endless Mode to give players more agency when it comes to picking how the run will shape. Particularly which modifiers will affect it and when. We still have to see how our idea will play, but this also should be ready for 1.0.

Today we wanted to drop a quick hotfix, that apart from fixes, will increase the overall size of the font (to make it easier for the Steam Deck players) and also to delete the Dll files that are causing some crashes.
Overall increased the size of the fonts throughout the game Don’t forget, you can change the UI scale in the game options if you feel like you need to
Disabled a dll file for the project. This should help players having infinite loadings when going back to the saloon
You might need to verify the integrity of the files on Steam to remove that dll. (it seems it is removed without doing it but we leave you a quick image of where to find it)
Fix a softlock where the floor was missing in a seed of Security Vault
Fixed an issue in multiplayer where the quest display in the Station maps for clients after returning from a run was incorrect
Fixed an issue in multiplayer games where the current quest is not being displayed as in progress in the Album for clients
Fixed an issue in multiplayer games where clients could not get any progress towards achievements after rejoining the game
It's a small hotfix today, Anglers! Let's get right into it.
We've fixed an issue with the scrollbar in the Storage menu. You can now fully access your storage again.
The Daily and Weekly challenge rewards are being reverted back to XP. Daily challenges have XP rewards and the weekly challenge for next week will award XP too.
Yo! So, I know we said the Volume 5 update was our final one for the year, and honestly, it is in terms of full updates. What’s this then you ask?! Merely a few much asked-for additions from the NFS Unbound community. We're working in a slightly different way now, looking at improving Unbound by adding new features and enhancing existing ones. Going forward, we want to try out some things with you all and see what you think. Want to help us? Then please {LINK REMOVED}give us feedback! Let us know what you think, what you want to see added, more of, or less of? and we will let you know what we are doing. You can expect to hear more from us in the new year. So for now, check out the updates below; see you on the streets!

PATCH 5.1.0
Added realistic driving effects tag - “Original”
‘Original’ driving effect, has now been added to the tags menu, bringing a more authentic and realistic feel to tire smoke. We know that many people have requested this feature, but this version of smoke couldn’t possibly work like other tags whilst remaining realistic. Ultimately this is about you expressing what you want, realistic or stylistic. We feel it’s important you now have that choice! Please note that equipping ‘Original’ smoke can impact the game experience. For example, you won’t get visual feedback on the vehicle for perfect starts or for signature boost earning as you will with other tags.
Added sorting for All My Rides
We have now added sort orders to the All My Rides screen in the garage for those of you committed to larger car collections. We salute all car collectors, and we hope this small improvement helps you to organize your collections. We have further ideas on ways to make it clear which vehicles you already own on other screens, but we aren’t quite ready yet and really wanted to give you the ability to sort your vehicles first
Added Open Playlists
Open Playlists have now been added to Freedrive. These are playlists that don’t come from other players. In the downtime between other freedrive events (linkups, boosted events), the server will send out invites to playlists. Our hope is that you all find the action keeps rolling and playlists become fuller. We have more thoughts around this too, and hope to share soon.
