Sounds of Her Love - ds-sans


Oh no... you scared her!

We have been continuing work developing Sounds of Her Love 2! Thank you all for the warm support on our previous update post. It's really a pleasure reading through supportive comments and we're happy to hear how much the original SOHL has meant to you, from being some of your first VNs to inspiring others to develop VNs themselves, it really means a lot.

It has been 3 months since our last update, so here are a few of the things we've been working on!

Firstly, I am happy to announce that SOHL 2 is getting an animated intro. As it would've been a shame to save this until release, given how cute Ceri is, we decided it would be best to dual purpose it as a 'teaser' trailer as well it's inclusion in the final game.

Huge thanks goes to 'Chloee_desu' for the animation and 'Red Robotix' for the music composition!



In addition to the above, we've also been continuing work on our in-game assets. Our artists, Kimiyoto and Kjkjmulo have been working hard on new CGs and BGs respectively!




Sounds of Her Love 2 is due to feature several new locations and settings in comparison to the original game, alongside reimaginings of memorable locations (because of course, who doesn't remember the first time Ceri let them into their house...). With fully original assets, we are hoping we can deliver something beautiful.

We will continue to develop the game throughout December, and hopefully deliver new previews and updates on our full cast of characters. Work never stops... not even for Christmas! But we do have something special planned, so keep an eye on our social feed come December 23rd... 👀

RAM: Random Access Mayhem - Xylem Studios
Hello RAM enthusiasts!

We wanted to share a short development update on the progress of the game as we move into December.

In case you missed it, Devlog 3 was released, all about a new bot, the Collider!

Collider is one of the bots that will be released when RAM enters early access next year, along with another saber-wielding member of the post Patch world.

We are hard at work creating new levels and encounters, here is a small tease of what is to come:



In the new year we will have more to share about the story and world as well as the scope of early access, and we will be updating the demo to include the overhauled level 1 art. Hey, our first patch is live! We've been listening carefully to every review and feedback and made some improvements to the game. Check them out!

Oh, and by the way, even more is coming soon: we're going to add more languages (German will be the first of them) and partial controller support.



The Muller-Powell Principle Update #1 Changelist:

General:
— Added an option for disabling the headbobbing effect while walking.
— Resetting settings to default ones now properly saves and overrides previous presets when launching next time.
— Added localization for some settings.
— After completing the game if you press the “CONTINUE” button the last game save before the player’s first choice is loaded.
— The “NEW GAME” button is now in the main menu.
— Adjusted the size of the backlog widget in the pause menu.

Reactor:
— Increased volume of the Shadow’s sound cue while in the quantum fog so the player can hear it better
— Nerfed Shadow’s patrol radius (now it won't get too close to the player)
— Fixed an issue with the wall appearing at the first encounter with the Shadow behind the player’s back.
— While escaping the Shadow for the second time after blinding the camera, the pathways leading not to the reactor are now unavailable to prevent disorienting the player

The Forest:
— Fixed an issue with Alex’s voice lines overlapping at the first encounter with a Stick creature.
— All dialogues are now triggering properly.

Lighthouse:
— Fixed an issue with Alex’s voice lines overlapping when entering the Lighthouse.
— Fixed an issue with the generator left at one map location falling under the ground after using the portal.
— Fixed an issue with losing the generator after going through the portal for the first time.

Shepherd’s House:
— Fixed an issue with the closed door between rooms in the apartment dimension.
— Fixed an issue with charging the generator while being behind the glass.

Escape from the Shepherd:
— Fixed an issue with duplicating the save after the escape beginning.
— Fixed a collision bug that was launching the player from the boss fight area.

Back to Facility 51:
— Disabled messing with the quantum entanglement mechanism when it’s on.
— Fixed an issue with an uncharged but connected generator while escaping from the Shadow.

Mushroom World intro:
— Fixed a minor issue with a terminal.

Mushroom World Part 1:
— Added a checkpoint after connecting the generator to the broken door.

Mushroom World Part 2:
— Added a clue for pink gravitons at the beginning.
— Fixed the main island collision.
— Crystals now can’t be covered by decals.

Caves:
— The Shadow is now certainly blocked after locking in the room with the crystals.

Photon Project Facility:
— Fixed an issue with an energy drainer targeting speed: it no longer depends on fps.
— Fixed minor issues with the energy siphon.

Hotel dimension:
— Fixed an issue when a player could get blocked in the room with the chairs.

Final Boss Fight:
— The save is happening after the fight starts, not before the opening cut-scene.
— Improved the boss's logic during the fight.
— Added some extra clues in the voice-over.

Happy Saturday all, we've already seen our highest concurrent users yet this weekend! A great way to start off December.

Regarding recent news, we are thrilled to see some much-needed attention being given to the FPS-Z genre. Perhaps 2024 will finally be the year that brings us the age of freedom of movement!

As for this weekend's playtest, we have just a few small items of note:

CTF-TwilightGrove art pass - new fog, atmosphere, skybox
CTF-Brynhildr - skybox fix, increased fog
League flag has been tweaked to be lighter and have a bigger hitbox - floatier and easier to grab!

Weekly updates will continue to be mostly small changes and improvements while we continue to work on the Unreal Engine upgrade. We are aware of the lingering and persistent crashing and sympathize with the frustration of that. To that end, we are hopeful this upgrade to UE 4.27 will alleviate a majority of the instability.

There will be a larger announcement later this weekend with regard to our next milestones and our plans for growth and expansion in the near future - stay tuned in our Discord!

Hi there!

We've noticed an increase in crash reports based on user feedback. Here are some examples:

Campaign runs for a few minutes then the game crashes without warning. It is not like getting stuck then closes but rather, you blink and it is gone.
The game suffers a large stutter and freezes, the freezes continue until eventually a crash happens. Can occur anywhere between the first 8 minutes to the latter 24.
The game closes when I open the story mode, both kenji and winter, just 5-10sec then it closes automatically.

Let us quickly sum this up:

  • We are looking into it, but it is a complicated matter that will take some time for us to solve.
  • This only happens for Windows 11 users.
  • This does not happen to every Windows 11 user (we have tried many times to reproduce this).
  • Some users provided crash reports in accordance with our instruction, which helped us get some ideas as to why this happens.

This issue seems to have come out of nowhere and may or may not be related to one of the Windows 11 updates. It's challenging to pinpoint the exact cause because the game works fine on all other OS (even Linux via Steam Proton), and it works for us (BR dev team members) on Windows 11 as well.

If we can't reproduce it, we will definitely have a tough time fixing it. We're closing in on the target; however, and let's be honest, nothing will ever be as hard as getting this game on Steam was.

Thanks to everybody who sends the crash dumps; that is very much appreciated. If you are struggling with crashes as well, please leave a comment here answering this short form and maybe provide a bit of background details:

  • Does your Battle Realms: Zen Edition crash?
  • When does it crash?
  • Version of your Windows (Name + Build)
  • Do you have a stationary PC or a laptop? If it's a laptop, does it have a hybrid GPU layout (multiple GPUs)?
  • What GPU does the game run on?
