Intruder - MitchyD

Greeting Agents,

Here at Superboss Games HQ, the leaves are turning, the snow is beginning to fall, and Thanksgiving is upon us. It's hard not to be grateful for another wonderful year with the Intruder community. To show our gratitude and appreciation, we aren't just cutting the turkey this weekend -- we've cut the price of Intruder by 50%, so grab it while it's discounted!

Additionally, seasonal items are available to unlock for the weekend. Play Intruder over the long weekend for a chance to unlock themed cosmetics like the stylish pilgrim's hat or the even more stylish turkey head.

We also want to put the giving in Thanksgiving, so we're giving you a 200% XP bonus for the duration of this Autumn event!

The Thanksgiving unlocks, XP bonus, and sale last until Tuesday, November 28 at 10am PST / 1pm EST.

We can't say it enough: We are so incredibly thankful for your support and enthusiasm this year. Without the Intruder community, we would never have been able to pull off the new maps and modes for Oceanside and Riverside, Cliffside's ground-up remake, and a litany of system updates to make playing Intruder (and making maps) even better.

So during this long weekend celebrating Thanksgiving, the Superboss Games team is overwhelmingly, sincerely grateful to you. Thank you for your love, support, feedback, and big ideas. When we get back from the break, and we've recovered from our mashed potato-induced couch comas, we'll be hard at work on some very exciting updates coming soon.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving, Agents.

Alien Colosseum - First Player Studios
To celebrate the first anniversary of my game's launch, I've introduced a debug mode along with fresh visual profiles.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the near future!
Midinous - Jae Nornec
1.1.7.0 Changelog - Fixes & New Things
General
• Manual has been updated to 1.1.7.0 - If you can't access the manual in the program, you can reach it here, or on Discord: https://github.com/Nornec/Midinous-Issues
 • A new MIDI port (Midinous Thru Port) will now take the input from whatever MIDI device you are using and send it out on this port. So if you are using a keyboard, the keyboard's MIDI will be mirrored on this port.
 • Added a point ID indicator to the Properties Pane
 • Tempo changes now correctly reflect traveler time in the program. Additionally, this changed logic means that moving points around in the program now also immediately updates all travelers along that path's time to live, meaning live editing is now even more accurate! I'm still working on how Midinous can sync externally to clock messages with tempo and not just transport controls. Expect this in a future update.
 • Logs have moved and will now be saved in <Midinous Data Folder>/log -- This is now the same relative location across all platforms.
 • Updated the EULA -- you may have to read then re-accept when you launch the next time, but only once.
 • As always, if you encounter issues with 1.1.7.0, roll back to a previous version until things are fixed. If you encounter bugs, please let me know!
 • The Feedback form now sends an email directly to help@midinous.com, the same email address you are always welcome to send feedback to the manual way too! I always love to hear your thoughts on the program.
Fixes
• Fixed a crash when trying to save a file with a '?' in it. '?' will now be converted to '_' if entered in the filename.
 • Fixed a crash when trying to copy or paste properties without a point being selected. Oops!
 • Fixed the issue of WAY too many autosaves being made. There should only ever be 12, not 12 per project!
 • The Logic Point color picker is now just like the other color pickers in the program. However this may break some saves. You will have to reconfigure the color to come from the point itself instead of the "Send Color" special color option. In my opinion this is much clearer to the user where colors are coming from.
 • Fixed an issue where using MIDI input at the same time as the note and octave selector in Point properties would not be setting properties correctly
 • Fixed an issue when copying and pasting points and properties -- color values would not carry over.
 • Fixed an annoyance with text input into spin buttons. The field will now accept both a '0' and a '.' as the first character typed.
 • Fixed an issue where you couldn't pan to groups using the mouse
 • Fixed bug causing the program to crash when using negative weights on random points. Now, when random points have paths leaving it which have a weight of -1, it correctly reflects the manual: these paths are not chosen.
 • Fixed a graphical inconsistency with the manual, where paths coming from Random points with a weight of -1 were not listed as disabled but the manual said they would be.
 • Fixed a bug where the feedback form short text field was not getting set properly in certain theme situations
New Stuff
• Theme chooser! Use the theme chooser from the appearance options menu and choose a theme to open, or save your current one. I have included a few themes for you to pick from. My favorite one is "crypt"! You cannot modify the 'default' theme, but you can save a new version of it if you wish. If you have lost or need access to the original supplied themes, they are in the Midinous install directory under user/themes
 • Separate autosave area: To reach your autosaves now, in the event of a crash, in the Open dialog, press the "Autosaves" button next to "Presets". They'll no longer clutter up the projects list.
 • There is now a set pallette of preset colors you can choose from in the various color pickers in the program! The last row of 10 colors are the colors that you've set for your UI and the various elements in the program. Change these by changing your appearance settings.
 • Added some easter eggs. Email me if you think you found them all :)
Life Updates
What would a Midinous update be without a life update? ^.^ -- I have been running around like crazy dealing with a legal name change and it has totally consumed the latter part of my year. Trying to change your name in the southern US is a wild beast, but I'm making the best of it, and I'm making a video to go along with my experience!
I also bought a Japanese Kei Truck (a Daihatsu Hijet) for several good reasons but the chief among them being I am incredibly irresponsible. But this should be a good addition to my home as it will allow me to do more projects around the property and I also plan to use it to help others with their neighborly issues.
Midinous had an absolutely stellar year. Thank you to everyone who supports me on Patreon and continues to spread the word about Midinous. I really do think I have something special here and I want to continue expounding upon it as long as people are interested, and they are definitely interested! I have some to-do items for the next update, such as getting external clock message sync working, and rewriting the logic system to be more accurate (you wouldn't believe how complex this is off paper). Happy to accept ideas, suggestions, and feature requests via Discord or email. I'm always listening to you, dear user.
I love seeing what people make with Midinous and love it even more when people send me their patches to test! Now you'll be able to share themes with each other which is even better. Send me your favorites in an email!
Anyway, all the best to you and yours. It's cold up here in the northern hemisphere right now, so I'm cozied up with a cup of hot cocoa and I've got my coding leggings on.
I hope you are doing well, and as always...

Keep creating,
Jae ♥
Star Sonata 2 - jey123456
Good evening Sonatians. The contest to take the Emperor’s Throne has gone through a few iterations over the past few years, from a game of “escort the payload” to the battleground oriented fights we have seen more recently. We have carefully monitored the experience of the Emperor mechanic since its inception and plan to continue iterating on the design as we learn more about player patterns and preferences.. In this blog, we will describe every aspect of the current system! It will be detail oriented and should answer any questions you may have about how engaging with it works.
The Anatolian Expanse

First, let’s talk about the Anatolian Expanse. The Anatolian Expanse is a layer of space found by traveling to Anatolia (which can be found off of Earthforce Perilous Outpost), then heading past King Midas into his domain. Here you can find Midas’ soldiers waiting to engage whoever comes to challenge them. The soldiers come in a few forms: Midas’ mining crew, his foot soldiers and his champions. All of these soldiers drop Anatolian Crests, a currency that can be used to get rewards for participating in the Anatolian Expanse and provide your team influence. I will elaborate on that later.

This layer has a few other rules that make it a PvP battleground. You cannot transwarp in or out of this layer. You must go in through one of the entrances, and there are no other ways out. Logging out of this layer will also cause you to be kicked out of the layer, which means no hiding large fleets logged out in deep space. Every galaxy within the expanse also has a set arena size. There is a 24,000 radius asteroid belt in every galaxy, and each galaxy emits a deadly aura past that point! This allows for plenty of room for large fights, while also preventing some extreme cases of kiting Midas’ Champions. (The early fights in the expanse took place tens of thousands of distance away from the center of the galaxy)

Midas’ Soldiers

Midas’ miners and foot soldiers aren’t too interesting. They will fight anyone that engages them, but they don’t give much influence. However, they are a good source of Anatolia Crests. You can find them at all times in the expanse, but compared to the champions they are significantly weaker.

Midas’ champions are where his might is truly on display. They are capable of fending off entire squads of players. They also provide large numbers of Anatolian Crests and a large amount of influence. These champions come in three different ranks that drastically increase in strength and rewards. There can only be one of each champion in the Expanse at a time, and they spawn on timers that can be seen in notifications next to the chat. If you do not see a notification there when you log in regarding these bosses, they are either already alive or not respawning soon. The ranks and champions are as follows:

 • The lowest rank champion, Taxiarhos, is worth 30,000 Influence.
 • In the middle is Strategos at 180,000 influence.
 • And, finally, the strongest and most legendary champion is Polemarchos worth 900,000 influence.

Anatolian Crests

Anatolian Crests are one of the two things that are obtained by defeating Midas’ soldiers. Their concept is relatively simple: you kill soldiers, they drop crests. Gather lots of crests and take them to any of the AI bases in the Anatolian Expanse to turn them in for lots of wonderful rewards! Be careful, if you are killed while transporting these crests you will drop them to whoever killed you! These PvP items have a few other attributes that go along with them.

 • Crests drop on death.
 • Crests drop when you leave the layer. This can happen due to logout kick or just warping out.
 • Crests prevent undocking while they are in your inventory. You will have to sell them back to the base for credits if you are unable to get other rewards for them.
 • Crests stick around longer than other debris.
 • They provide visibility to a ship that holds them.

With 100 crests you can purchase an Anatolian Trove. These are loot boxes that contain a bunch of very useful items, including a low chance at a Tarnished  Imperial Seal! Crests and troves can be obtained before, during, and after the Throne is claimed, so come on in and fight for some crests!

Claiming the Throne

As mentioned before, killing Midas’ soldiers provides influence to the killers team for killing them. Influence is what is used to determine which team will be crowned Emperor. However, you cannot just go and get influence in the Anatolian Expanse at any point in the universe. The Emperor’s contest is a timed event. At exactly 720 hours (30 days) after a new universe is formed, killing soldiers inside the Anatolian Expanse provides any teams that took part in killing any given soldier with  influence. This influence is provided proportionally based on how much damage each team did to the soldier. 20% of a soldier’s influence is also provided to the team that landed the killing blow on a soldier. At any given moment you can see the total amount of influence a team has by looking at the bulletin board in any AI station.

The contest itself lasts 3 weeks (21 days). When this time period ends, the leading team will be crowned Emperor, with a few conditions. After 3 weeks, if no teams are eligible to claim the throne, the contest continues until the moment a team becomes eligible. For a team to be eligible they must have at least 1,000,000 influence and they must also have a 900,000 point lead ahead of the team in second place. If a team is not crowned by the universe reset, all influence is wiped and an Emperor will not be crowned for that universe. Since the contest is a one time event, once an Emperor is crowned that Emperor will hold their throne for the rest of the universe.

The Contest’s Spoils

The current rewards for the Emperor contest take 4 major forms. Three of which are only provided for the Emperor and their team:

 1. A 5% tithe is applied to scooped credits and colony sales to players not on the Emperor's team.
 2. The Emperor can dock at the palace in Anatolia and receive three augmenter reset modules and three ship dry dock modules
 3. A galaxy in wild space will forever be named after the Emperor.

Additionally, there is another reward that is distributed amongst the top 10 participating teams who have  accrued at least 100,000 influence. A pool of 250 Imperial Chests are proportionally provided to these eligible teams based on their teams percentage of the total influence earned by all teams. The greatest amount of these will always be provided to the winning team, but there’s still chests to be earned by whoever can snag a spot in the top ten!

Round up

The Anatolian Expanse and associated Emperor Contest is a labor of love by us to support an active PvP event that breaks up the day to day activities in Star Sonata. We appreciate the many rounds of feedback the community has given about this experience. We are committed to continuing to support this activity and monitoring its success and failures. This blog post includes all information on the current system used to ascend to the throne to become Emperor, but like with many things in Star Sonata, it changes often. This system will likely be iterated into the future to bring an experience that promotes competition. You can stay up to date on what is involved in the contest to become Emperor by visiting our wiki page on the topic. https://www.starsonata.com/wiki/index.php/Emperor

Don't Die, Collect Loot - Dan
Hi everyone, and thanks again for participating in the Don't Die, Collect Loot playtest! I've been over the moon thanks to the outpouring of support and feedback from all of you.

The current playtest has gone really well! That being said, the testing phase will be ending relatively soon. The current build will continue to be playable, but will be converted to a demo (yes, your saves will still be there!) for easier access. I'll still fix bugs on the demo, but major new content won't always make it over to that build.

There will be future playtest builds, likely focused on specific characters and content added over time as I prepare the game to become a more fully-featured release. Players who have actively engaged with the playtest will also receive keys for the Alpha build of the game, where they can continue to play the latest builds even after the testing phase ends. I'll be reaching out to folks directly, but if you're interested drop me a line!

Additionally, there will still be two content patches for the current playtest before it ends, and you're about to read about the first one now! The next patch will focus on the third character, the Arcanist.

Nightmare Items

The main focus of this patch is to add more fun endgame progression in the Nightmare difficulty. While it can be fun to push your character to the limits in the infinite scaling dungeon, it'll be even more exciting if there are actual rewards!

Those rewards have landed in the form of Nightmare items. These items are special rare drops that only appear on Nightmare, and are more likely to appear on higher Nightmare levels, so start farming those boss keys!

Nightmare items always have the maximum amount of modifiers the item can support, usually 5-6 depending on the item. These modifiers have extremely lucky rolls, heavily biasing towards being tier 7-10. They also always include one special modifier unique to Nightmare items, and the base itself is also extremely powerful and unique!

Here are two randomly rolled Nightmare items:

More Nightmare bases and modifiers will be added in the coming days

Chaos Bound

When these memories were originally sealed and the growth of the world as we know it halted, three incredibly powerful people sealed themselves away within them to ensure nobody would undo their efforts.

Unfortunately for you, they've taken notice of what you're up to and are once again awake. Provoke their ire and you may not live to regret it.

Other Changes
 • Added a handful of new unique items
 • Increased the base scroll speed of the game noticeably
 • Added a new type of treasure chest only on Nightmare
 • Made source of "final" damage multiplier more distinct and clear
 • Nerfed Frozen Slime damage scaling
 • Buffed the damage of all ranged pets substantially
 • Added the ability for multiple entities to make up a single boss
 • Removed the debug menu from the production build
 • Fixed a bug where not all treasure chest opens were counting for certain achievements
