Preferred snacks, a bottle of Game Fuel (aka Citrus Cherry Mountain Dew™️), and a controller in hand, I’m ready to play Halo like it’s 2007.



Halo 3 Refueled has landed and it’s full of your old favorites… or at least the maps which might have left the biggest impact from the Halo 3 era. Now, it is 2023 so things have evolved a bit. These maps may visually resemble these old favorites but it’s important to note that they have been refreshed and adapted for Halo Infinite’s sandbox so they may play slightly differently.



Oh, and did we mention there’s one more bonus map created specifically for this celebration?

Ask anyone what their favorite Halo 3 map is and odds are good that “Guardian” is up there, so it’s no surprise that we’ve got a great reimagining of it here for you to explore. Another map with some great Slayer action, famous for Oddball, and just a great all-arounder that feels like coming home.

The Pit is another usual answer to the “Name your favorite Halo 3 map!” question. This map excels at CTF thanks to its symmetrical nature and equal chance for teams to exert control. Grab your crew and let the muscle memory flow straight to your thumbs.

Lockout Blackout returns as Cliffside! First seen in Halo 2, then Halo 3, and now Halo Infinite, this fan-favorite will have you reminiscing over LANs of days past. Play some Slayer, Oddball, or KOTH and revel in the familiarity.

One of the more vertical maps in Halo, Construct returns as Domicile! Pretty fitting considering people often grab a part of the map to hang out in. From straight-up Slayer to KOTH, this map has a wide variety of experiences to offer.

Keep your head on a swivel and watch for flying Spartans! Narrows returns with a new coat of paint. How you get from end-to-end is up to you, but each option has a risk—take the lift and be exposed in mid-air, dare crossing top-middle, or try your luck below? Narrows is an excellent CTF map but also plays well with other modes.

If one-sided objective modes like 1 Flag CTF are your jam, then High Ground is the map for you. Storm up the beach, breach the gates, grab the flag, and make a dash back for the score. KOTH and Slayer are also favorites on this map.

You either love it or hate it, but Isolation returns. Famous for its location on the Installation 00 Flood containment facility, Isolation is ripe for Mongoose shenanigans, crazy CTF runs, and sneaky Slayer plays.

If you’ve played Athlon in MCC, then Critical Dewpoint will be familiar to you. This re-imagining of the map is perfect for some high-octane gameplay so get your squad and practice those callouts.

8-Bit Invaders! - Petroglyph Games
Kick the tires and light the fires!

We are excited to announce a new set of updates for our 8-Bit series of RTS games (8-Bit Armies, 8-Bit Hordes, 8-Bit Invaders) out now. With feedback from the community we have hunted down bugs, tuned things up and even the virtuoso Frank Klepacki has provided three new music tracks which you can experience in-game as well as in the soundtrack DLC.

Some of the standout changes we have made include fixing up the exploit that allowed players to see when a resource node was being used. Some changes to the Gremlin and Heavy Drone. As well as several fixes that should smooth out the remaining hiccups some players were experiencing.

- "Sorcerer's Ambush" - (Hordes)

UI
- Replaced News Cranioid with more current news about new game (9-Bit Armies!) coming out.
- Updated leaderboard links to include only those that are actively supported.

Balance
- Gremlin (Marines):
- Area-effect radius of heal doubled to 100 (was 50).

- Heavy Drone (Guardians):
- MG weapon casting seconds reduced to 0 (was 0.3)
- Reduced damage per shot to 2 (was 3)
- These changes together increase base DPS for MG weapon to 10 (was 6)
- Rocket weapon cooldown reduced to 2.2 seconds (was 2.7)
- Rocket base damage increased to 6 (was 5)
- These changes together increase base DPS for Rocket weapon to 7.27 (was 5.26)

Bug/Exploit Fixes
- Improved/Fixed very long startup and load times that could occur randomly.
- Fixed a bug that automatically selected the Intel integrated graphics over an Nvidia device on some laptops.
- Fixed a rendering slowdown related to particles.
- Fixed a crash that could happen following a large number of weapon impacts on terrain.
- Fixing issue in which Hordes harvester was misnamed in German and was also using French translation.
- Fixed bug in which the Orbital Cannon superweapon alarm is repeated continuously if destroyed just before firing.
- Fixed hard-coded text in the tooltips for Units and Structures which appeared in English no matter which language was selected.
- Fixed animation issue around resource nodes. Resource nodes will no longer animate (giving away harvester locations) when under fog of war.

Golfing in Aether - Vetron
The fourth free expansion to Golfing in Aether is here, bringing ten new levels for all modes and themes as well as introducing the new "Dustbowl" level theme.

Free DLC - "Dustbowl" theme + 10 new levels
Above is a link to the free DLC (it should be downloaded automatically). The levels will work with all previous themes and in all game modes.


The level breakdown is as follows, one large late game level, one mid-game, and eight early. This brings the total number of levels to 70, with 10 being late, 30 mid-game, and 30 early, overall balancing out the random level selection more evenly.

Remember via custom sessions you can individually pick levels you want to play, as well as preset playlists such as 'early only' or 'mid and late' only depending on how you wish the play the game. All levels work with all existing themes so if you wanted to check out all these new levels in the winter level theme instead (with the seasonal holidays soon approaching) then its perfectly possible to do so!

As an additional note the new level theme will be made available to the demo version of the game but the same demo limitations such as only 18 levels and only able to reach XP level 3 are in place.

Unreal Engine 5 updated
With this expansion release the game engine has also been move forwards to the latest version of Unreal Engine 5 so please let me know if you encounter any issues as I'll be doing hotfixes to any issues over the coming weeks. The primary reason for this engine version change is to keep overall support with newer devices and latest versions of SDK's. This includes the latest DLSS3, and FSR2 versions made available.
