Our Life On Water - krzmaster
We are Different Tales, an indie studio and publisher based in Warsaw, Poland. You might know us from games like Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Heart of the Forest and Wanderlust: Travel Stories, or the ones we're publishing: Backpack Hero and Havendock.

Now we want to invite you to the unexplored and vivid world of Our Life On Water – a magical life-sim RPG. An idea for the game appeared, when we stumbled upon a “New York Times” article by Ben Mauk about floating villages in Cambodia and Vietnam, with extraordinarily beautiful photos taken by Andrea Frazetta. We couldn’t get the words and images out of our minds. We decided to use this admiration and create a fictional world drawing inspiration from these floating communities and with advice of cultural consultants living in the area.

Sahakom and its Habitants
Entering this world, you will find yourself in a fictional country of Sahakom, stretching on both banks of the River Mekong. Our game, like this region of the world, has its own brand of magical realism. You will embody the role of the Rivertalker, a figure who acts as a dispatch between the material and spiritual world of the Karavaru tribe. Rivertalker's role is to remind its people - and us all - that we are connected to nature and spirituality.

The life of Karavaru is full of daily dose of magic and paced serenely, as days and seasons guide. You will get to become a part of a bustling village life. You will perform rituals, participate in communal activities and spend time in nature. You will learn how to fish, cook delicious meals for your neighbors, take care of your plants and animals and row your boat across enchanting archipelagos, with surprising places to explore. Our goal was to create a living and breathing village, with its own customs, value system, traditions and lifestyle that would be both entertaining and intriguing.

Who is Rivertalker?
As Rivertalker you will cultivate bonds of your tribe and confront moral dilemmas that will influence the narrative. What makes a community thrive? How to make do and mend when times are tough? What does it mean to be a friend? You will have to answer the age-old questions especially interesting in our modern world: How do we all connect? What is worth fighting for? What can you sacrifice? You will get to know a fascinating spectrum of characters, who will become your crushes, obstacles or allies. You will get to resolve social issues but also simple daily feuds. You will build, gather, restore - not only on the material, but also emotional level. You will nourish, renew, forage - both literally and figuratively. You will laugh and cry.

Beauty and significance
Our choice of this setting was motivated not only by the beauty of Southeast Asia, but also by complex challenges that people living in the Mekong Delta face. While these river communities boast a rich history, their present reality is fraught with various threats. They are facing issues such as ecological disasters, modernization, and capitalism, all of which have implications for their way of life. Tackling a range of challenges including climate change, political chaos, mass tourism, and migration, the game showcases the genuine struggles of these local communities - and also mirrors global problems of the modern world.

Faced by growing external dangers and internal divisions among the townspeople, you will be driven to seek guidance and energy from the River Spirits, aided by a talkative otter companion and by the River itself.

Immerse yourself in a bittersweet story of a beautiful world in the throes of decline, where each decision you make leaves an indelible mark. Come to live your own life on water with us.

And remember: You must always trust the flow.

The PC version of Our Life on Water is slated for Early Access release in 2024. We hope you will join us on this journey.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon - a.zasadny

Hey everyone,

We’ve got 2 things to share with you today. The first one is a good bunch of fixes in the newest 0.6a patch. It fixes quite a lot of stuff that you’ve reported since Judgement of the Excalibur was released, so be sure to read what’s been fixed in the bottom part of the post.

The second thing we wanted to share with you - and we’d like to start off with that - is our gratitude. The 0.6 patch was released to great reception and we’re super happy about that. We wanted to say “Thank you!” from the whole team engaged in the development of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Right now, our recent reviews are 91% positive and we're rocking an impressive 81% positive reviews overall. Today, as a way of thanks, we would like to share some interesting statistics from the game in form of a video:

For those of you who prefer to just look at the raw data, here it is, along with some extra numbers for some things you might expect, and some real out of the box ones. Grab your sword, pop a potion, mount that horse of yours and take a look:

Hopefully this was as fun and interesting for you to look at these numbers as it was for us to discover how you’ve been playing the game. This is not all fun and games (although it kinda is), though - we’ll be using the data to change the game for the better, as well, so one more final time - thank you! Oh, almost forgot…

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is now 20% off, too!

Moving on to the patch notes. The feedback you’ve been giving us helped us a ton and we’ve managed to make some improvements that should improve your journeys through Avalon. As we plan and work on the next area we have worked on this patch at the same time, and it comes with various fixes of issues that have been reported by you along with improvements and some QoL changes.

Here’s what’s been fixed, improved and added:

Breaking issue fixes
  • Fixed case of corrupted saves caused by npc death while unloaded.
  • Fixed case of loading stuck on black screen when re-entering building with an active guard due to a crime committed
  • Fixed freeze after loading save inside Wyrdness
  • Fixed issue with in game buttons and levers not responding
  • Added file verification on game start
  • A lot of issues were happening due to steam corrupting game files. The game will now warn you if a corruption is detected

Performance
  • Limited number of CPU threads for better performance (high thread count CPUs) from our tests cpus with higher thread count had a very heavy hit to fps without this

Story
  • Necromancer gives correct spell to the player
  • Quest One Percent - quest markers should now display correctly
  • Morris and Rhosyn should be at correct positions during the "branded and exiled" quest
  • Some villagers should now run away during combat
  • Added missing localization for equipped items during dialogue

QoL
  • In controls settings player can now choose between "Hold" and "Toggle" input type for Sprint, Walk and Crouch actions
  • Arrows now auto-equip to loadouts when picked up
  • Stolen ingredients are correctly taken into consideration when crafting
  • Extended range of Camera Sensitivity setting slider
  • Added auto selecting currently tracked quest in the quest log

Misc
  • Rested and Well Rested statuses are no longer able to be applied at the same time
  • Fixed wrong items being dismantle results
  • Changed combat arena in Blood Lake
  • Healing potions now display correct values in Polish
  • Changed summon compass markers
  • Fixed not disappearing loot ui in some cases
  • Handled displaying failed quests
  • Fixed not disappearing custom marker on the map ui
  • Fixed not clickable Close prompt in save/load ui
  • Fixed italic font in bug reports window
  • Added additional info about generic food "+X" in the inventory
  • Fixed overlap of item titles in relic results tooltip
  • Fixed and improved UI hero rendering on Character Sheet
  • Updated background of items in containers
  • Updated Hero Storage UI layout
  • Fixed issue with NPCs performing the same animation in the Village
  • Fixed displaying effects gained from talents (mysterious hand symbol)
  • Fixed game speed bug after repeatedly using Temporal Hold
  • Fixed enemy weapon duplication

An issue that we are still working on is the freeze that randomly happens upon returning to the open world from dungeons. We are rewriting the rendering of the game's vegetation that is causing the issue. The rewrite will allow us a larger variety of vegetation for the new region, possibly improving performance along the way, and fix the issue. Unfortunately, due to the size of the rewrites we still need some more time.

That's it for today. Cheers!

RESISTOR - aaron.raw
Hi all, how have you been?

Today we are excited to reveal our First Look Gameplay Trailer as seen at the 41st Golden Joystick Awards!

In this new trailer we demonstrate how RESISTOR blends cinematic, character-driven storytelling with high-speed, stunt-infused racing as rising star Aster comes face to face with a dangerous pair of adversaries…

We also introduce character and vehicle customisation, with an alternative look Aster, voiced by Thomas G Burt, jumping behind the wheel of several heavily modified refits of the R180 'STAGNUM' as it blazes across busy desert highways, threads the needle through a sprawling industrial complex, and navigates twisting subterranean tunnels.

A LEGEND IN THE MAKING

Utilise the character creator to design your own racing prodigy, Aster. In true RPG fashion choose from a wide selection of body shapes, facial features, hairstyles, skin tones, and accessories, with MILLIONS of different combinations possible! Once you’ve settled on your look, pick out an appropriate voice type, with feminine and masculine vocal talents courtesy of Rhiannon Moushall (Warframe, CrisTales, Cloudpunk) and Thomas G Burt (SMITE, The Prince of Tennis, Phoenix Point).

CUSTOM RIDE

Retrofitted with a finely tuned, high-performance (and slightly unstable), Star Point Motors GT1200 plasma engine, Aster’s iconic red and white first-generation R180 was inherited from their father, the legendary racer Eugene Aster. While this powerful machine provides the perfect entry point for fledgling racers participating in the early stages of Dekker’s tournament, later challenges may require more ‘specialised’ hardware. Collect new body kits and engine parts to modify the appearance and handling of your ride before hitting the track to dominate your rivals.

RACING ON THE EDGE

Aster’s road to victory begins in The Northern Wastes, a sparsely populated desert expanse littered with remnants of the old world and characterised by dusty highways, monolithic mesas, and treacherous gulleys. At the centre of these badlands stands ‘The Rig’, a decommissioned oil platform home to a small community of outcasts and traders. Here you will accept your first missions allowing you to get to grips with the basics of stunt-racing and open-world exploration, while simultaneously making a name for yourself and building up your rep. As Aster progresses through Dekker’s tournament new areas of the world will become available to explore, with increasingly more technical environments and tracks to tame!

We hope you enjoy this first look, and we'll be back for another update soon!

Guild Wars 2 - Anet Richie
Hi, folks. My name is Cal Cohen, and I'm the lead skills and balance designer at ArenaNet.

Expanded weapon proficiencies are coming in 2024 during the second major update for Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure™, bringing a new weapon and skills for each profession. Today we're taking a look at warrior's new weapon proficiency: the staff. Warrior has been lacking a strong weapon to use in its support builds, and staff serves to fill out some of the tools that warriors need to support their allies. Staff will be playable alongside the new weapons for every profession as part of the Expanded Weapon Proficiency beta event starting on November 28 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (UTC-8).

Jumping in to Help

One of the key goals for staff skills was granting warriors the ability to charge to the front lines of battle to empower and support their allies, and for that we have the slot 2 skill, Valiant Leap. Valiant Leap causes the warrior to leap to the target location, healing and granting offensive boons to nearby allies upon arrival.

As a frontline support, we also wanted staff warriors to bring some personal survivability to the table, which is found in slot 5 with Bullet Catcher. Bullet Catcher starts off as a channeled block skill but also grants access to a secondary skill, Defiant Roar. Defiant Roar heals nearby allies, with the amount increasing for each attack blocked by Bullet Catcher (up to a reasonable amount, of course).

We're excited to see how warrior support builds come together with the introduction of staff. There are obviously a few more skills to cover, but we'll hold on to those until our new Expanded Weapon Proficiency preview livestream on November 27 at noon Pacific Time (UTC-8), where we'll give an in-depth introduction to each profession's weapon.

The day after that, the new weapons will be usable during the beta event that runs from November 28 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (UTC-8) through 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time (UTC-8) on December 3. Keep in mind that during this beta test there will be temporary UI, art, and audio assets for some of the weapon skills.

We'll see you in the Mists!
