Virtual Touch Screen 2 - Yahm0n
Valiant users of Virtual Touch Screen 2, a monumental announcement graces thy realm! Behold, for a dual triumph hath descended upon our domain, marking a momentous chapter in the saga of our software.

Our noble quest to fortify the integrity of Virtual Touch Screen 2 hath borne fruit with the vanquishing of two vexing adversaries. The omission of MSVC, which erstwhile thwarted the aspirations of some valiant users, has been rectified. Furthermore, the unintentional alteration of the camera gain, which marred the visual experience, has been vanquished from our code.

This momentous update not only restores the missing MSVC, allowing all valiant users to partake in the wondrous touch of their virtual screen but also guarantees a steadfast visual journey, free from inadvertent alterations that once vexed the noble voyagers through our software.

Embrace this virtuoso update, where the combined victories pave the path to an unparalleled experience within the realms of Virtual Touch Screen 2. Your virtuous endeavors through hand gestures and webcam sorcery shall now be met with a smoother, visually resplendent, and vastly improved interface.

Take hold of this update, dear users, and revel in the glory of a software reborn—Viva la Virtual Touch Screen 2, now more vibrant, valiant, and victorious than ever before!

(It is the 5th of November so I had to add some pizzazz. If you don't get it, watch the movie V for Vendetta.)

More plainly:
  1. The MSVC redistributable is required for the program to run, but was not included. For users who did not already have the MSVC 2022 redistributable installed for another program, it would fail to start the Virtual Touch Screen. With this update, MSVC will now be automatically installed if missing.
  2. The program was erroneously changing the camera gain even when set to leave the camera exposure settings alone. If you were effected by this, you may need to correct your camera exposure compensation, either by manually changing it in the camera settings or by setting the tool to automatically manage it with the settings in the Camera section, under Camera Exposure Settings Override and Camera Automatic Camera Brightness Override.

    To get the latest version of the program, you may need to completely exit and reopen Steam, or more simply restart your computer.

Hello everyone. Today, we'll be here for a serious talk this time around.
The following will be about the nature of our team and this project, recent internal events and struggles, and a future outlook on this project. For the ease of structure, we'll be splitting this into three sections, the current, the past, and the future. We apologize that this update isn't the most lighthearted, and we understand if it makes you feel uncertain about the future of Aftermath. We ask you all to please hold open minds.



Some of you may have noticed that the Demo Soundtrack has been removed from Bandcamp and YouTube, as well as a few other videos from the channel.
This is due to us having to cut ties with a member of our team. While we can't get into specifics due to privacy concerns and potential legal reasons, it's a very sensitive topic that we have to take incredibly seriously, and this individual is no longer associated nor affiliated with Eternabyte.
We ask for our community to not speculate, nor seek out this individual. This is a very painful and sensitive time for all of us, especially due to the nature of what makes up our team. We are a friend group first and foremost. "Friends before Company."

This situation has lead us to rescope the project in it's near entirety. This includes rewriting story beats, characters, and most of the written soundtrack. Due to this, we are uncertain if Aftermath will have its final public demo out by this year. However, we stand by our past statements that what we have, we are incredibly proud of, and we cannot wait to show you what we all have made.




It's grown unavoidably obvious that we have struggled with communication with our community and followers, as well as it being obvious that there have been many unannounced hiatuses and pauses in development.
This, truthfully, stems from the fact this project wasn't expected to get as large and ambitious as it has become. When our lead Vixia began working on Aftermath back in 2018, it was to see the internals of the original OneShot and to make original maps, not to make a project more expansive and in-depth than the original game. Since then the project has been taken more seriously, and we are incredibly proud of the direction that it has since taken. There is nothing but love and passion that is involved in the creation of this project, though of course, this comes with their own issues, especially when this is the first undertaking of your studio and it's members.
The vast majority of this team were kids when we were making Aftermath, myself included. We were inexperienced, way in over our heads, and incredibly ambitious for people who didn't know what we were doing. Now we're having to take those concepts and write them into something that's coherent, enjoyable, and leaves a lasting impact on par with the original game.

In the time since our last devlog (which in retrospect is terrifyingly long ago), we have rewritten the game's engine from the ground up, as well as the text engine. This was then followed by an even more in-depth visual upgrade, and further dialog tweaks to better suit character frameworks. Due to the nature of those tweaks, and us actively avoiding giving out spoilers, we were unable to make a substantial devlog, further pushing time between public updates. This wasn't helped by the fact that, unsurprisingly, rewriting the code for your entire game takes a long time. This perpetuated our struggle with radio silence. Hopefully, the programming aspects will be done soon, and development on the game will resume as normal, and devlogs will properly return again.




Rest assured, despite the radio silence, we have reevaluated our approach to managing the game as a whole in order to better aid our team in working together and knowing what steps need to be taken in order to continue development on the project, as well as steps to take care of ourselves as well.
Despite the stress and pushbacks, we aren't giving up on this project, and we hope you all won't either. We want to make this the best it can be, and we hope we are able to offer a game that will just as fondly remembered and received as the original. We want to make something of our own, in tribute to the original, not copying the same thing that it did. It takes time, and hopefully you all will continue to give us more. We'll continue to update you all on development on our socials like Tumblr & Discord as usual.

Season 7 has been RELEASED!
Remember how fantastic Season 5 and Season 6 were? Well they sucked. They just bought us time to create Season 7. The only thing better than Season 7, is this video I created showcasing Season 7.

Over on TubeYube, the charming and effortlessly cool Bleachpie8 has been playing Endlight. If you want someone to play Endlight for you, complete with massive spoilers, you best watch the king. He's averaging about an hour a season, which is both amazing and concerning.

Moonring - Fluttermind
Hi... folks...

...I'm... so... tired.

This was meant to be a fun-filled, watch-horror-movies-and-overeat weekend.
Instead, I discovered that the new save system had some... interesting quirks.

As such, I ripped apart the entire thing again and rebuilt the bits I'd not rebuilt before.
The good news is that the code is far more understandable.
The better news is that:
- You no longer teleport all over the place
- You can save wherever you want by quitting the game
- Checkpoints are different from saving. A checkpoint sets where you respawn after death. A save is where you reappear when you load the game.


If you are not in a Relic Dungeon, any changes you make to yourself or the world will REMAIN AFTER DEATH.

If you ARE in a Relic Dungeon, any changes you make to yourself or the world will RESET AFTER DEATH.

So, you can now plunder a cave, but can't just die in it to respawn the stuff in there. If you want that to happen you'll need the new magic item. :-)

Anyway, I hope this solves some of the buggy nasties. I'm gonna go sleep...
