Evolings - SuperRare
Hello lil guy enthusiasts!

There's been a lot of work behind the scenes to update the game in this new version. We've addressed some changes that were brought up at launch, but weren't able to be fixed right away. As well as this, we have brought back the "Snake Oil" and "Sacrifce" spaces with some pretty major changes. Tell us what you think!

Bug Fixes
Fixed: Hellfire now properly resets after each fight.
Fixed: Better gamepad support for a variety of gamepads.
Fixed: Fixed some issues with Steam Achievements.

Balancing Updates
Rework: Added the item "Snake Oil" back into the game. "Snake Oil" can now be used to heal all poison from allies, but using it will destroy the item.
Rework: Added Sacrifice back into the game with the following changes:
  • Sacrifices will not occur in Act 1 anymore.
  • Sacrificing an Evoling grants you the item "Mark Of Sacrifice", passively buffing all Evolings of the sacrificed element by 80% of the stats of the sacrificed Evoling. Stat gain is reduced to 40% if the sacrifice does not directly kill the Evoling (Urn, Evade, Snake Oil, etc...)
  • Highly reduced buy-out cost (66 -> 13).
Updated: Evolings with evasion can evade the sacrifice.
Updated: Item "Lucky Charm" sets the payout cost of the sacrifice to 0.
Added: Item "Lucky Charm" has a 20% chance to mitigate lethal damage (Evoling will survive with 1 hp).
Updated: Sloom base stats increased (Pow: 5 -> 11)
Updated: Slerp base stats increased (HP:8->10, Def:1->2, Pow:2->3)
Updated: Derp base stats increased (HP:30->32)
Updated: New Evolings found later in a run have ~20% more live.
Updated: When fusion several shiny Evolings, the shinyness will be added (instead of just taking the maximum).
Updated: "Reading" does not roll Corruption anymore.
Updated: "Tarot" also has the move "Sting" now.
Updated: "Consume" stat gain is now capped at 5 per stat.
Updated: Shuriken does not multiply self inflicted damage anymore.
Updated: The item "Prism" can now be unfocused when used on the already focused Evoling.
Updated: Lizard's Flask level order changed: Level 1: Shield To Power, Level 2: Money To Power, Level 3: Missing Life To Power
Updated: Tetrahedron level order changed: Level 1: Magic Enemies, Level 2: Demon Enemies, Level 3: Fire Enemies. Other levels stay the same.
Updated: Alea guarantees to roll at least one damage move.
Updated: Alea only rolls previously found Evolings in the "Random Evoling" mode.

Other
Updated: "Evade" and "Miss" text color is now slightly brighter.
Updated: Minor updates and fixes.

Our Adventurer Guild - TheGreenGuy
- Fixed a bug where the "Dark Devotion"-Skill of generic cultists encounters could trigger indefinitely.
- Changed wording of the Height-Text to "Visible Height" which hopefully makes it more clear that the buttons around it change the visibility of tiles
Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear - Nhitori
- Modified 'thank you for playing' text at the end of the game to reflect more info on the upcoming EF2 Kickstarter! 11/11/2023 ~
- Added a few lines to the GUI dialogue when replaying the Miracle Route
- Fixed the issue where Kanatsun's 'secret note' could not be viewed on his profile
- Finally replaced the placeholder CG in Madeline's Third Memory-Seeking Segment
- Fixed a few more small errors in the text, including one where I implied Shinjiro was born in 2003 because I can't do math. A 19-year-old in 2024 who has a January birthday is born in 2005, not 2003... I'm pretty sure
- Something that used to function perfectly broke because I've updated ren'py since the last update. It seems video files no longer automatically pull from the images folder. I fixed this by moving the videos to the base game folder.

Mortars' Range
Have you ever been pinned down by mortars from really far away from a Vessel? Yeah, it annoyed us too, so we finally got around to figure out the issue with this seemingly unlimited range and fixed it. Now, you need to be from a reasonable distance from the Vessel for them to launch mortars at you.


Fire Ring Self-Damage
Have you ever felt like the Sun Tower combo was... wrong? In the midst of action, it was hard to pin point the issue, but after a bit of focused trial and error, it became obvious that the problem arose when you activated that power: the hitbox, which allows enemies to hit the character, expanded significantly. As big as the Fire Ring itself actually! If an enemy was attacking a tower or anything like that, but the ring happened to be in the area, the player would take damage too.


Dynamic Combo Prompts
If you're about to launch a combo, be it for a normal or a super tower, you have other options while in that mode. You can cancel to take back full control of your character, or you can move to select another tower. But what if there are no towers? Or if you're in a tutorial and that we want you to focus on a specific task? Well these prompts needed to get dynamic to adapt to the different use cases, which we are happy to include in this update.


Smokespawn Hit Animation
Ever noticed that the Smokespawns would glide on the ground sometimes? Yeah that was an animation bug. It's taken care of now.


Corruption No Longer Slows You Down
This one is more a game design change than something broken. Long story short, we're changing somewhat our approach with the combat system in a few subtle ways. To put it simply, we now believe that the character should be mobile. We improved the teleport ability in a past update, we added an experimental dash in another one and this change goes hand in the same vein.


Win/Lose Inconsistencies
Before this update, when we lost the enemies were automatically killed. This was odd, since they just won and we lost. So now, they stay around to enjoy their victory.

We also had a few other changes in this department including a minor animation fix on the core for when we lost. In a few rare occasions, it was also possible to win a round and kill the last Vessel, but still get hit by an enemy at the same time. The outcome of such a scenario was mostly a coin flip: did you win or did you lose? You'd find out after a 5sec animation where you have no control. Now, the outcome should be more clear and immediate.

Speaking of the 5sec win/lose animation, the lose one had a bug in it that made it somewhat static and unnecessarily long, which we of course fixed.


Introduction Mission Nodes
In the World Map, a mission node will tell the player if the mission should be expected to be easy, normal or hard. But what about the nodes for the introduction? They used to display "Very Easy" or "Easy", but we think that these statements are misleading at best. These custom missions do not represent the difficulty of the nodes shown in the campaign. So we decided to display "Introduction" for both of these missions instead to avoid confusion.
