As Halloween descends upon us, we have finally left Early Access. The game is now feature and level complete with a new coat of polish. I couldn’t not have made the game this nice without all the feedback and testing from the Early Access players, thank you all so much!

There’s still bound to be more bug patches in the future, but mostly I’ll be working on localization in the future. There’s a prequel also in the works, on the old Sword of Moonlight engine, that I’ll give more details on later when it’s closer to completion.

Crop Rotation - Sprouting Potato
First of all, thanks everyone for the feedback and and playing the game. I hope everyone is enjoying the game so far.

Overview
After a month of working, 1.1 is finally ready.

The goal of this version is to fix some of the balance issues of the game. The current version has a few strategies that were really strong. Strong strategies aren't really a problem, but in this case they were too strong that they invalidated other strategies. This also make adding new cards irrelevant.

The first issue is permit/animals stacking of the same kind. This way of playing make it such that you can just stack one type of animals/permits and ignore the others. This discourage combining different cards and their effects, making the game very one dimensional.

The second issue is mono-cropping, which involve playing only 2-3 types of crops rather than building around set bonuses. The main problem is that set bonuses are generally weaker than permits and animals.

Changes
Here are the key changes in 1.1. There will be a detailed changelog at the end of the post but here are the main ones.

Unlimited and Rating mode
In the main rating mode, cards will be limited. This means there you can only get a copy of each card to the max level (except for Chicken).
This change creates a need to combine multiple passive abilities, instead of just stacking 1 single type of permits.

However, it is still fun to see how big numbers can be, so an unlimited mode is added where the old strategy can still work.

Custom Mode
The previous relaxed mode is removed. A new custom mode is added to allow you to customise some part of how you want to play the game.

Changes to cards and set bonuses
The set bonuses that give value are all buffed. Most permits/animals that were strong previously are nerfed to bring them down to the same level. Most crops are also changed so that they are stronger at tier 4 and 5 to incentivise upgrades.

In general, the max level set bonuses are now roughly around a T3.5 permit/animal.

The 16th Crop Type
Lastly, the last croptype is here - Invasive. This set comes with 10 additional cards, and also a new mutation.

Conclusion
With these changes, Crop Rotation is finally at where I wanted it to be. I will still continue to balance it, and when I have enough cards to consolidate to a new set, I will add them in. If you have ideas for cards, do suggest them in the discussion or discord.

Lastly, to allow people to enjoy the broken-ness of the previous version, I will be archiving the previous build in the 1.0 branch.

Changelog:

Ships made easier to get:
Ships now drop from normal enemies and bosses and their costs have been lowered significantly. They can now drop with quality (Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary) and up to +4.

EXP Runes + EXP Dust added:
EXP Dust can be gathered from crystals, just like repair dust.
It has 3 quality levels:
EXP Dust - Increases EXP by 10%. Lasts 5 minutes.
EXP Shards - Increases EXP by 15%. Lasts 10 minutes.
EXP Remants - Increases EXP by 25%. Lasts 15 minutes.

EXP Runes are a random drop from enemies, with bosses and Dvergr ships having higher rates.
They also have 3 tiers just like EXP dust:
Minor - Increases EXP by 10%.
Major - Increases EXP by 15%.
Superior - Increases EXP by 25%.

Misc Improvements:
Upgrade costs on some material processing upgrades lowered to make it easier for new players.
Ability to open a Controls guide added to the bottom of the Settings screen.
Chat Window Size selection added to preferences tab of the Settings screen.
Trade window improved to show chat while it's open.

Bugfixes:
Dropping an item in between slots of hte trade window dropping the item into space instead of adding it to the trade window fixed.
Ships still moving after entering a trade fixed.
Tooltip sometimes going offscreen fixed.
Backend recompile items bug fixed.
Typing in faction join text box triggering button actions fixed.
Runestone collectibles not adding stats fixed.

Spell Disk - Sunpeak Games
  • Improved the behavior of auto-casting spells. After the end of the battle, the auto-cast is disabled as usual. However, players can now self-cast the weapon spells even when the auto-cast spell is enabled. Auto-cast players can also attempt to self-cast to restart the auto casting if it gets stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where defeating the run with a staff unlocked almost all weapon classes in the survivor mode. They will unlock their respective weapons as intended.
  • Changed the behavior of warrior class's outfit. While we wanted to give a unique characteristic to the warrior class's identity, we felt that no dashing distance was somewhat frustrating on a lot of occasions. Now, the warrior will dash a slightly shorter distance and create a shockwave at the end of the dash.
