We’ve been hard at work on Roots of Yggdrasil in the last few months, and your feedback on our monthly playtests has been INVALUABLE. Today, we have some VERY exciting news to share in this update. So, without further ado…
ROOTS OF YGGDRASIL WILL LAUNCH ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS ON JANUARY 24TH 2024!!!
While we initially wanted to cross that threshold over the summer, we realized that we needed a bit more time to make sure that the experience would be as engaging, balanced and fun as possible before bringing the game to the public.
The team at ManaVoid is incredibly excited to finally launch the game, which will also be our first major self-published title! As you may know, self-publishing is a way for indies to keep total creative control, and we’re so glad to be able to do it with Roots of Yggdrasil.
Here’s a couple of things you can expect at Early Access launch:
- Visual Update : In preparation for the public release, we’ve put a lot of effort into improving the look of the game. One big thing you’ll notice is how each biome feels more unique and alive. Here’s an example of a map in Vanaheim.
- UI Update : Now that the core mechanics of the game are more defined, we’ve also taken time to polish the Interface. We’ve made it smaller, clearer and also more consistent throughout the game. We also added some quality of life improvements into it, like your overall map progress that’s always visible at the top right! Here’s a peek:
- Content : We’ve been hard at work on adding content for the game. That means more buildings, artifacts, upgrades… and threats! There’s also a new Warden to meet in Nidavellir. Meeting Vidarr will allow you to draft a reusable action card to add to your deck permanently!
- End Game : The big addition you’ll see at the launch of Early Access are Hoenir’s Trials. These trials will allow you to customize your game, challenge yourself and earn more rewards. They should challenge even the most hardened Scions!
We’ll be sharing a complete roadmap for the first few months of Early Access as soon as we launch in late January!
Finally, we want to thank you so, SO much for your support. Roots of Yggdrasil is a game we’ve been wanting to make for years, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your help and unwavering hype for the project.
Welcome to our first official blog post! It's been a while since Gamescom and our Gameplay reveal! *
Bye Sweet Carole is part of Steam Screamfest 2023!
On this occasion, Bye Sweet Carole has partnered with artist Omri Koresh (known for his work on American McGee’s Alice: Asylum) to create a chilling artwork.
Here is a version without logo if you want to use it as a wallpaper! :) We also added it into Wallpaper Engine in case you're using it!
The rottens rabbits
We wanted to start introducing to players the different characters that are part of Bye Sweet Carole's story. Halloween is full of terrifying creatures. The rottens are black rabbits made of tar. The origins of these creatures are unknown, but they are closely related to Mr. Kyn. In fact, by opening portals, he can summon them.
Look at our gentle Mr.Baesie fighting against the Rotten while Lana is finding the way to escape this dismal well...
It's Halloween after all!
It's the spookiest season of the year, and it's the best time to watch your favorite horror movies or play your favorite horror games? What is your favorite horror game?

*ICYMI : Watch the Gameplay Trailer from Gamescom:
-Added an FOV slider in the video settings tab -Added the ability to hold down the "Action" button to continuously swing tools and weapons -Fixed various AI issues -Fixed various balancing issues -Optimization
Battle Hammer-Axe Alternate Form: Down-Air attack has slightly more bounce on hit and hitboxes are slightly bigger.
Sisterhood Gauntlets Alternate Form: Launcher grab damage increased from 30 to 40.
Link Blades: Awakened Form Enchantment damage increased from 50% to 100%
Icicle Rain: Icicles spawn slightly higher (if not blocked by a wall).
Bug Fixes:
If you clear a room on top of a chest, you now don’t have to move away and come back to trigger the interact prompt.
Fixed a bug that allowed you to constantly initiate new launchers while in the air using the Sisterhood Gauntlets Alternate Form.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Capacity interface from updating after obtaining the Magic Quiver Enchantment.
Fixed an error upon reloading a save with the Magic Quiver enchantment which reduces the Capacity bonus.
Fixed a hitbox issue that caused the Up-Air attack of the Battle Hammer-Axe Alternate Form to sometimes register two hits during the final blow.
Fixed an issue related to the spawning of Icicle Rain projectiles in some instances.
Fixed an issue that caused the interact prompt to appear over the blessings menu in some cases.
Fixed a bug that could cause exit portals to generate on top of Yara when there is a Relic Chest in the room.
Fixed an error that could prevent the weapon moveset checklist from appearing when Dashing into the training area. This should hopefully also resolve a similar issue upon dashing into areas that switch between in-game cameras.
Battle Hammer-Axe Alternate Form: Fixed a hitbox using the wrong damage value during the Neutral-Air Attack.
Fixed an animation bug in the Regional Shrine room that caused the Shrinekeeper to play an animation when closing multiple menus.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Tools of Destruction achievement from unlocking. If you meet the requirements, re-open the weapons menu to refresh this Achievement check.
The runesmith now correctly comments when you awaken each weapon.
First off we have released a patch which addresses the Eagle Eye Cherub achievement on the Golf Stage. I thought I'd squashed this bug already but it seems I'd missed some conditions. Pretty sure it's fixed now!
So, now that the majority of bugs are fixed we can begin looking at new content. Yay!
After talking with Whisper Games I can confirm that the content drop will be FREE! Which is totally the best price! I'm aiming for it to be a significant update too, with a good amount of new fun things to do in the game along with some surprises.
The soundtrack will be released alongside an upcoming price discount to try to attract more new users to SUPER 56, this will happen before the end of the year.
Finally, SUPER 56 is now STEAM DECK VERIFIED! Which is pretty awesome news too.
Lastly, as of 16:10 GMT I am the current top player on the Daily Challenge, so please come and beat my score heh heh heh
