For the first devlog, I wanted to highlight the most important building in the game... your inn!
When we first see it, it's a dilapidated farmhouse that really doesn't look very promising. I wanted to incorporate more visual changes into this game compared to the prequel, The Lost Art of Innkeeping, so you'll see both the exterior and interior of the inn transform over time, as you discover new items, meet new people, and buy upgrades.
So after some (very expensive) renovation...
I wanted the renovated inn to look like a definite improvement over the old farmhouse, but still retain some features of the original building. As a result, you can see above that the roof is still made from palm fronds and the walls have a "wooden" look (as opposed to being constructed from brick, stone, or concrete). I also spent some time designing the windows so that they look a little more unique.
And of course, this being a hotel by the beach, the more expensive guest rooms have a balcony from which you can enjoy the view!
I'm still working on adding more stuff in the garden. You'll also get the chance to customize a few things about the inn, if you have (in-game) money to spare. :)
Also, if you're interested in learning more about me and what inspired The Hidden Art of Innkeeping, I was interviewed recently by The Cozy Conservatory, a website that features cozy games! You can find the interview here: https://thecozyconservatory.com/.

Chess for idiots - a discipline of intellectual sport, invented and initiated by Ozjasz Goldberg. Seemingly chess for idiots resembles regular chess. The game is played on the same board using the same pieces. However, this is where the similarities end, because everything that would discriminate intellectually against players was eliminated from the rules. Therefore, there are practically no rules, and players can make any move with any pieces and capture any number of opponent's pieces. The victory is determined by the IQ (the lower, the greater the chances of winning) and the decision of Ozjasz Goldberg.
