Horticular: Build a Garden, Attract Wildlife - DanPos
Hello everyone!

We've been very busy this year showing off Horticular around the world! From WASD in London, to Gamescom in Germany as well as in Kyoto and Tokyo at Bitsummit and Tokyo Game Show respectively!

You'd think now would be the time to relax and unwind, but we're heading straight into our next marketing drive with our inclusion in the upcoming October edition of Steam Next Fest!

To celebrate our inclusion in Steam Next Fest we have a brand new, updated, game play trailer to debut.

YouTuber KatherineOfSky has kindly agreed to debut it on their channel before NextFest starts on Monday 9th October. Take a look at the trailer below!

As well as the new trailer, we're going to be doing some livestreams this week on the Slug Disco channel showing off the latest version of the game.

And last but not least, to celebrate the new trailer we commissioned two piece of key art for the game from artist Ella Frehtman. It would be great to know which your favourite is below!

Don't Shit On My #!$@& Roof - Biggs
Pigeon killers and rooftop defenders, hello,

First of all, I'd like to apologize for all the bad things that have happened to the game since March.

To put it simply, we were working on the follow-up to Update 0.4. Our focus was on revamping the UI and the diffuculty system, as well as adding classic content.
Unfortunately, in April, a piece of news put a stop to our plans.

The Moon Pirates company went bankrupt, and we were forced to enter legal proceedings.

During this initial period, we were not allowed to comment on the matter, and had to halt all our production plans.
Yesterday, the trial took place and the verdict obliges us to withdraw all our games from sale, including "Don't Shit On My #!$@& Roof".

The procedure can take up to a year.

What we hope now is that the intellectual property of our games is not taken away from us. If it isn't, we'll be able to reactivate the Steam page and resume work on it.
If this happens, the game will have to remain in this state.

Unfortunately, the news doesn't please anyone. We had set up The Moon Pirates because we love making video games: inventing systems, playing games, making music, graphics, coding, ...

We hope to be able to resume our creative activity on our games, in whatever form that may take.

I hope you'll understand the situation we're in and bear with us.

Once again, on behalf of The Moon Pirates team, I apologize for the silence and for the difficult months ahead.

Biggs
Open Mod 2024.2 - Hyper Gamey
-quick hotfix to an error in the shooting range target switcher scripts. It was pretty much harmless because the functionality wasn't broken but it would collect a lot of garbage

-quick hotfix to the default weapon positioning offset. The previous default position had the weapon block the view of the player. If you're still not happy with it you can always change it from Settings>Gameplay>Custom weapon positioning

Glorious news, commander.

The latest milestone for WARNO has hit the digital shores, with BRUNE being available now!

Teased in last week’s DevBlog, we bring a couple of exciting new features with milestone BRUNE, first and foremost two new divisions and two new maps (variants).

But first, a little historical recap about the milestone’s namesake: Guillaume Brune.

A little bit of history

Eager beavers not interested in Napoleonic military history can skip this section. For you keen to read on Eugen’s tradition of naming major milestones after military commanders from the Napoleonic wars - you found yourself in the right spot! You have been warned. Let’s dive in!

Guillaume Brune might be one of the least known marshals, as he was mostly left unemployed by Napoléon. Morbidly enough, his death seems to be most well-remembered (and documented).

His reputation as a staunch Republican, much like his fellow marshal Macdonald, brought him into conflict several times during his career, resulting in Brune being employed as an ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. If we rewind a bit, it should be noted that Brune served with distinction under Bonaparte in Italy, and while Napoleon was campaigning in Egypt, Brune successfully took command in Switzerland and the Netherlands, where he repelled a British-Russian invasion.

A checkered career
After Napoleon’s return from Egypt and during the subsequent coup, Brune was one of his closest advisors. However, even though he was a capable military commander, administrator, and diplomat, he seemed to keep on getting in the Emperor’s way. He, for instance, signed important documents with the “French Army” instead of the required “His Imperial Majesty’s Army.” Napoleon took this as a personal affront and sacked Brune.

Brune returned only in the end stages of Napoleon’s career, in the Hundred Days in 1815. Left unemployed and ignored by the new monarch, during Napleon’s last hooray, Brune rallied to him, gaining the command of the Armée du Var, defending Southern France against Austrian-Sicilian troops. With Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo, Brune surrendered before being forced to return to Paris.

Going down fighting
During this ill-fated final trip, Brune was recognized by a royalist mob, who caught up with him at the gates of Avignon. Despite interventions from the mayor and local prefect, the monarchist population was intent on blood and followed the once-Republican military commander from house to house. Brune’s fate was doomed; not once losing his calm and even asking for weapons to fight back, the lynching mob at last cornered him in a hotel. As ladders were placed against the windows and the first rioters entered his room, Brune put ink on paper and wrote a last letter to his wife.

What happened next has been well documented. Pushing away a pistol with his bare hands, another one misfires before a third is pushed against the back of his neck and kills him. Brune’s body is snatched and dumped in the river, where it is used as target practice. Only two days later, the marshal’s corpse is recovered and buried. An inglorious but battling-to-end finish to a Napoleonic marshal.

Milestone BRUNE

Back to WARNO. What can you expect from the next milestone?

Two New Divisions
  • The U.S. 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized) with its contingent of National Guard units and vehicles.
  • The Soviet 27-ya Gv. Motostrelk. Div. (or in English, the 27th Guards Motor Rifle Division) brimming with the latest Soviet Army equipment.
  • Read more about the two new divisions coming with BRUNE in this dedicated DevBlog.

New Airport Variants
  • The first of the new maps will be a new 1vs1 variant of the popular Airport map.
  • The second will be a massive 10vs10 version of Airport.
  • Check out more details about these new variants in the dedicated DevBlog here.

Until next week

Idle Space Navy - Arynnia
This is the first ISN Devnote posted to Steam, but it is the 30th in the sequence of devnotes.

So, the Steam launch of Idle Space Navy 0.07.4 has been a much larger success than I expected. Over 3,000 people have added the game to their library, and over 500 have given it a try over the past two days. I'm blown away by the number of people who have taken a chance on a first-time indie developer's early access game, and I really appreciate it.

I'm not stopping here, though, because ISN has a long way to go. ISN 0.08.0 is the next major version of the game, and among new features (such as the Artifact System - the second prestige layer - and new items and upgrades) are a large chunk of quality of life improvements.

Ship/weapon purchase woes. One of the issues I've seen people bumping into is that they're buying ships and weapons before they really have a use for them. I've added an item to the tutorial, but I've also gated ship and weapon purchases and upgrades behind map square purchases in 0.08.0. This means that you'll have to buy a map square in order to buy more ships or weapons.

Decimals decimal-ing decimal-ly. The standard in ISN has been 3 decimals for everything, simply because 3 decimals were and are being used for notations for over 1 million (1,000,000) of resources (most obvious for credits). Evidently, though, this has caused some confusion, so values below 1 million will have their decimals trimmed to 2 places. Beyond 1 million (so, in the realm of notations), values shall continue to keep 3 decimal places.

More info in the Lab. The Calibrator has more information about how your earnings for Calibration Chips are calculated in a new toggle, and the level requirements have been placed into a toggle as well to declutter the Calibrator's display.

More info about saves. The main menu has received a bit of a rework, not only including the new manual save as a selectable option but also including some information about the saves in question - telling you what version the save was made on, the save's save number, and the time the save was made. It gives you more information about your saves!

Quality of life bugfixes. There have been a few quality of life bugs zapped, such as automates' toggles and upgrades being weird, the Lab reset tutorial not displaying right (probably part of the first issue I listed here), and module values not being displayed quite right.

Either way, there's a lot coming in 0.08.0, and I think it will solve a lot of the issues people have had with 0.07.4, as well as bringing a bunch of new features to the table. ISN 0.08.0 is targeted for mid-October, so stay tuned!
